Ambiance is great, restaurant is very comfortable, bar looked appealing but didn’t use it. Menu and specials were creative and enticing. Delivery great and food was superlative.
Staff was very attentive and helpful without being intrusive.
The food was delicious but we had to wait a long time for it because the service was terrible. Waited more than 20 minutes for a menu and then only got it by practically pouncing on a serving person.
What a gem! Beautifully decorated, great style, lovely service. It is deceptively large inside and there's pockets of tables you can partition off for a private dinner party. Seems like a perfect spot for a date, dinner with friends, or a family night out. I immediately thought "my mom would love this place."
I had a Puls'd deal and went with an appetite (2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, & a bottle of wine for 2). We split the burrata and Caesar Lacinato (kale), both delicious and the waiter brought us some crusty bread which was wonderful. I have to recommend the pasta, the tagliatelle bolognese was out of this world. Cooked perfectly and evenly dressed with savory, sumptuous veal/beef ragout. All other pasta's that passed by onto other patrons looked equally as delectable. My partner ordered the pollo, juicy inside with crispy skin outside. It came on a perfect bed of Brussel sprouts and turnips.
We were stuffed, but opted for the sorbet and a special orange cake with gelato for dessert. Sorbet is always a delight, but the orange cake was the star - tasted like a creamsicle dreamsicle! I don't recall the wine, it was the waiter's recommendation. A lovely Sangiovese blend, fruit forward with savory and earthy tones to round it out.
Fantastic experience and would definitely return to try more pasta!
"Cesca is always a go-to place when on the Upper West Side. It was first time there on a Sunday Night Football night, though, and it was quite raucous. Would recommend retreating to the back dining area rather the bar, which is a fave people watching area. It quieted down soon enough for dinner conversation, which followed our decision to forego salad and order some of 'Cesca's delish apps: Cauliflower Fritti and the artichoke hearts. The Tortelli al Funghi is a favorite. I have to branch our further, but it's so good, I just have to have it. Generous pours for wine and mixed drinks alike, friendly staff and you never feel rushed, even when they are busy. Love this place.
We very much enjoyed our dinner experience at Cesca. Carefully prepared dishes (pasta, chicken, branzino) with a nice red wine from Northern Italy. Friendly staff.
It was horrible! We sat at our table for 20 minutes before we had to ask a busboy for a waiter to help us. Then they didn’t have anyone assigned to our table. After ordering, it took awhile to get our food and the restaurant was not at all crowded. The food was fair at best. We were very disappointed!
So delighted to have such an amazing little gem on the upper west side. Always looking for an elegant yet simple place for Sunday brunch and Cesca fits the bill. The food is delicious. Ambiance warm and inviting. Service on point. And the absolute BEST Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. Seriously! Cesca is my new “go to” place for Brunch!!
Great....especially since the interiors were refreshed a year ago!
Warm service accompanies tasty but unexceptional food. Prices suggest a more original approach to the menu. The noise level is beyond energetic, although the front tables by the windows allow for a bit more conversation at normal voice levels.
Excellent place for a nice dinner if you’re looking for a lovely ambience. The setting looks more appropriate for a group date/dinner than a romantic date. Service was good and food was good!
Even as Cesca is under new management it still is a go to for fine dining. All was very very good.
I was very disappointed. The branzino was weakly spiced and over cooked. The presentation was poor and the service indifferent. I won’t be going back.
We went with friends and had marvelous food. They know how to do that here. Very noisy at the time we reserved, even on a tuesday, so they put us in the quieter side room, alone. It was actually fine as we were more interested in talking than in people watching. A really wonderful restaurant.
Definitely recommended, have been there a few times prior to shows at the Beacon. Service and food were great, and close to the Theater.
Food was great and we would return to try something else. Had the salad with the pistachios and mustard dressing, very fresh and simple, the pasta bolognese and the scallops, all delicious. The warm apple crisp with gelato was too sweet and not a typical apple crisp, more like a tart. Service was just ok, but didn't expect much based on the reviews. Go for the food!
Every course is prepared to perfection, from appetizer, main course and dessert. Friendly service. Will return.
We have been fans of Cesca for many years. However, we had our 2nd bad service night. Too bad because the food is absolutely delicious and nice varied menu.
We were a party of 7. We arrived early & enjoyed drinks at the bar.
Wonderful staff. Everyone was friendly & professional. The menu was varied & everyone’s food was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Very busy, not enough staff, loud and packed in the large dinning room. Service timing was off -- apps and first course came at same time. Otherwise excellent.
Best restaurant on UWS
Good food, pleasant room, but very inattentive service.
I live in the neighborhood. Cesca has been popular since it opened
Always good food. Sometimes (when really full) a little noisy.
Overall a lovely restaurant.
Drinks were served warm instead of chilled. Waiter promptly corrected the problem. Noise level was uncomfortable. Food was fabulous, especially the Branzino.
Service was a little slow, but there was a large crown of pre-theatre diners arriving at the same time. Food was very good.
Good food; noisy and chaotic; friendly service; credible wine list.
They went out of their way to accommodate us.
We were disappointed. The food was mediocre and the service was rather anemic. All in all, well overpriced
Our waiter was extremely solicitous and recommended a terrific bottle of wine as well as great appetizers The mahi-mahi special was spectacular and the octopus appetizer was tasty and generous. Followed by a dessert of apple tart with ice cream the perfect cap to a lovely evening. It was an early Saturday evening and the entire place is hopping.
Overall it was great! Food presentation to preparation. Great meal , very good service and great atmosphere
So incredibly, unbearably noisy we left without eating. The tables for two are all (or mostly) in the bar area and the noise there is extraordinary. Larger tables are in the main dining room and are probably quieter. This used to be a neighborhood favorite for us but something has changed recently. We have given it two chances since then and were seated in the front area both times. The first time we stayed unhappily. This time we just walked out!
Its just a great place - can’t go wrong. I am crazy about the wait staff - every time its the best experience
Celebrated my birthday with my wife and another couple prior to attending a show at the Beacon. Servers, hosts were all very accommodating. Will return.
Good Food, service, ambiance & moderate pricing. Nice for small parties. Convenient location near subway, bus.
Poor and frankly rude service override an otherwise delicious menu
Great neighborhood staple for Italian. Excellent mahi mahi and very opinionated waiter (on wines).
I made a dinner reservation at 11 pm, but when I arrived they told me the kitchen was closed.
Food was great as always, so is the atmosphere. Love eating at the bar, bar tender was awesome
Visited 'Cesca last night and was blown away! The attention to detail in the presentation of their dishes and the flavors were just out of this world delicious. My friend and I ordered off the Chef's menu which was a fantastic price fixed dinner and the server offered to pair wines for us. A total win!
The guys enjoyed the Pork Chop and Steak dishes they ordered. Sides of veggies and fries were a bonus!
Dessert wines followed by the creamiest orange pie (can't remember the name) that had vanilla ice cream and salted caramel. Yum!!!
Can't wait to visit again!
OUTSTANDING! HAD FRIENDS IN FROM OUT OF TOWN... IT WAS ABOVE AND BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS. DELISH IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD.
Although we’ve eaten dinner at Cesca quite a bit over the years, this was the first time we had brunch there. Obviously not cheap but not over the top. Omelettes were excellent. Ambiance: bright: since brunch is served at the front of the restaurant, rather than at the rear and some renovations appear to have been made, the atmosphere was more convivial for a daylight meal.
