    Charlie Palmers is a great restaurant in a great neighborhood. The space is amazing and the food is fantastic. The wait staff is attentive and the service is very good. The only challenge our party experienced was that some of the requests of the diners didn’t come out as f the kitchen exactly as specified. The wait staff however was very helpful in addressing the concerns.

    Gustavo and Kaila were outstanding and gave us one of the best dining experiences ever. The evening started with being greeted by Mike Irving who is most hospitable and fun people to speak to. The service overall was truly memorable and a birthday celebration for my fiancé she will never forget.

    This restaurant would have gotten a better rating however the steaks we had were severely undercooked. Ordered medium and received 4 very rare Dark Redsteaks. Quality was average at best since even a good rare steak should be somewhat tender. Should have returned them.

    The best Service and some of the best food I’ve ever had. I didn’t think it could get any better attending some other great restaurants in DC. We were greeted with amazing smiles wishing my Fiancé and I a Happy Anniversary and complimentary champagne from Issac who provided top notch service the whole night with recommendations, checking on us and having a very warm spirit. The drinks, food, ambiance, service was the best I’ve ever encountered and to top it off an amazing dessert with sparklers shooting out wishing us Happy anniversary, then leading us to the rooftop to see the beautiful view of the Capitol to take pictures. I will NEVER forget this night and again thank you Charlie Palmer/Issac (Server) for this unforgettable night 🙏🏾❤️

    Absolutely delicious. The peach salad, mushroom toast, and lobster corn dogs were each phenomenal. The ribeye was extremely well cooked and seasoned. I look forward to eating here again!

    Great meal! They were busy so it took longer than expected to get through dinner (reservation was at 6:45, finished at 9:15) but it was our 37th wedding anniversary so we enjoyed spending the time together.

    Food was great. Service needs improvement. Restaurant was not full or busy. Plenty of staff and still took 5+ minutes to be acknowledged by wait staff. Wait time for first drink, menu, appetizers were extremely long.

    Charlie Palmer was a great restaurant, not anymore. We went this week for my friend’s 40th birthday. The mac and cheese was cold, the baked potato was blend and no black truffles flavor was in them as they should have, while the steak was tough, chewy and had a weird flavor. At the end of our dinner, we asked our server if we can have the words “happy birthday “ written on my friend’s plate and a dessert. We were told they do not know how to write that. We left the restaurant very disappointed.

    After years of hearing about this place was SEVERELY underwhelmed. The ambiance for dinner was more like a table in a concert hall/wedding reception. The steak (dry aged bone on strip) was fine-ish, but not even as good as Capital Grille (hell, Ruth’s Chris). Service was S…L…O….especially for drinks…W. No engagement with or by service staff but also no rush to turn tables-which was odd. We passed a half dozen steakhouses to get here…we should’ve stopped. With CG, R’sC, BLT, Rare, Bourbon Steak, The Grill, and STK in town, don’t see myself returning to Charlie Palmer absent a need (and not on my dime).

    This is my fourth time visiting Charlie Palmer in DC in the past 2 years. It was by far my favorite restaurant. The first three visits, the ribeye steak was phenomenal and worth the value. I insisted to all my friends that they had to try Charlie Palmer ribeye. Unfortunately, in this last visit, my date and I both ordered a ribeye steak and the flavor and tenderness of the steak was not at all to par from my previous experiences at Charlie Palmer. Regrettably, due to my level of disappointment, I am no longer able to recommend Charlie Palmer steak platters because of the lack of consistency in taste and quality of meat. Our waiter was kind, and he brought some free desserts, because I communicated my experience. On another note, we were seated slightly removed from others, and when initially asked to be seated by a window, I was told they were unable to change my table due to reservations. Of note, I too had a reservation. No other party was sat near us. While the quiet was nice, it felt as though our table was somewhat off their radar. For example, our water was not refilled consistently, and the attention to service was not the usual. The restaurant was certainly busier than it had been in any of my other visits. Unfortunately, the attention and exceptional food quality I had previously experienced was significantly decreased in this last visit. Perhaps this last experience was an exception; however, I was celebrating an important evening of personal significance, therefore the let down was felt all the more.

    Amazing service! We were celebrating my son’s birthday and the service team could not have been more gracious. One of our servers even walked us to a great vantage point of the U.S. capitol! The food was excellent and the ambiance lovely. I highly recommend it.

    This Restaurant made us feel special on our special day! Right frok the greeting at the reception to the complimentary champagne and cake at the end they ticked all the boxes! Fantastic steak and appetizers, gustavo was brilliant! Definitely coming back!!! 5 star all the way!!!!

    I had been to the restaurant on numerous occasions, but always in a private room. This time, we were in the main open area and the ambiance resembled that of a restaurant attached to a hotel. The other two people in my party had never been there before and noted the same. The food was good. We had two different steaks and a crabcake and everyone was generally pleased with the choices. My small annoyance was that I had asked for medium rare and was given a medium, while my husband's "medium" was medium rare. We didn't bother sending them back, but just a note for the waitstaff to be more attentive when taking orders. The one thing that bothered us a bit was that we felt the waitstaff was trying to rush us out of the restaurant. We were still enjoying our wine and were nibbling on some left over fries, and the waitstaff tried to clear our food (which we were still eating) on two separate occasions - and once we very loudly said "please leave it" and they still insisted on picking it up off the table. While I would not write the restaurant off for any future visits, I hope not to have a similar experience in the future.

    We had high hopes for our for Charlie Palmer to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday. Unfortunately, it was a pretty disappointing experience. Even though we had a reservation, and arrived within 10 minutes of that, our table had been given away and Hostess was a little off-hand - like it was our privilege to be there. After a 10 minute wait, a table turned up and we were seated. Drinks were served quickly but it took another 20 minutes to see a waiter to take our food order. Starter took 30 minutes, entree 40 minutes and dessert 25 minutes to arrive. Entrees we’re going cold by the time they were dumped on the table. No bread, no drink refills, including the fizzy water we’d already paid for. Food just OK. Not worth $100/head for service this bad. Ambience of the restaurant was not thrilling either with loud music and a seedy looking reception area near the door. There are much better places steps from here that treat you better and have great food. Won’t ever return. Note to management, don’t make your wait staff work 8 tables at a time at this price point. Your first time customers won’t return!

    First, my reservation was for BAR seating, and to them, bar seating is.... a table in the bar area. Never experienced that before. Steak was cold and tough... 75 bucks. Lead bartender was clearly more interested in the last sitting alone than taking my drink order. I would not go again.

    Certainly decent, but a few bumps along the way. First, our party arrived as two groups - one group got seated which was fine, but when the second group arrived using the same name, we were told no one had arrived and were seated at a new table. In any case, we solved that one. While we appreciate the leaves in the table to expand the table was a plus, given the amount of wine and apps we ordered, it made hearing someone across the table a challenge - it was an energetic evening. But, the steak was just OK, the mushroom medley were clumsily served with a fork, and no spoon, and the raw oysters were only served with large forks! All a bit odd. Plus, the wait person lost track of which glass was for which red wine - why not have two different glasses for those who want to enjoy two reds? Or some way to notate which is which? In any case, decent, but not at the level I'd expect from a name brand Chef.
