Mamasita has a focus on modern Mexican dishes, showcasing traditional and regional techniques, enhanced by a sensational variety of artisanal agave spirits.
Coupled with friendly and personable service, Mamasita is a true reflection of the best food and beverage that Mexico has to offer.
The food was outstanding, the service was bit slow.
Thanks for a great day with Mamasita and Cheek. Loved the food, and the vibe. The musicians were also a brilliant and unexpected addition to the day.
Good drinks but the food is more expensive bar food to accompany drinks.
The food was excellent! the atmosphere was buzzing and myself and my friends loved the grapefruit margarita.
Great food, service and atmosphere,
We'll be back!
The food and the atmosphere were great. Unfortunately the service was poor. We had booked a table and ordered entree and main course and thought we would order more if we wanted more. After 1 hour and having had 2 cobs of corn, the waiter said they need the table in 30 minutes. We said we haven’t had our main course yet. He said sorry the table was re-booked. At no time did they tell us there was a limit on the table. Not when we booked, when we arrived or when we placed the order. Being pushed out of the restaurant really did spoil, what could have been a good night. We won’t return.
Food was amazing.. venue could be bigger, very busy so makes it hard for staff to be attentive
Maybe i was missing something, but the food seemed really meagre, the service was messy and then the bill for 4 was nearly $400. I just didn't think any of it was worth the effort.
Overrated, slow service and uncomfortable seats.
Food was pretty awesome though to be fair
Expensive - $60 per head for tapas type stuff. But delicious & good service. They must be doing something right- it was packed & there were people waiting on a Wed night.
The waitresses were amazing and provided incredible service. The constant try for upselling was noticeable though. The quesadilla hardly had any toppings in it and was small so there was no value for money. The corn in the starter was delicious which was a win but overall I wasn’t blown away, particularly given what I had been told
I came here for a casual anniversary dinner with my wife and I during a weekend trip to Melbourne. The food was excellent; tasty, great selection, whilst being fresh and made with quality ingredients. The ambiance was great, low lit and moody.
I must say though, our service experience was really sub par. I had a 8.15 booking and we were made to feel rushed and unwelcome by a bearded male waiter. There were no other people lining up or waiting towards the end of our meal and by 9.00 when we still had food on our plates he was asking to clear them, then hovered around until we paid the bill that was brought along. We would have easily stayed for a few drinks and perhaps dessert but ended up going somewhere where we actually felt welcome.
This really was a shame because the rest of our experience was actually really good.
We went not knowing anything, my husband chose it for my friend and I, and we loved it.
Drinks choice is varied and I surprisingly loved my Mexican mojito.
We decided on the Staff Choices set menu and it didn't disappoint. No gluten FOMO!
Service was relaxed but on point.
Would definitely go back next time I am in town
The bar staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. The food was great and they know there Mezcal!
Best Mexican food in Melbourne, can’t wait o return!
Great food, great service, a little dark inside, hard to read the menu. Would definitely go back 🙂
Hard to find but once you do it’s worth it. The staff are very accommodating. The food is incredibly flavorful and fresh!
The food was sensational, the service was great, the drinks great, and the overall satisfaction was quite high. I'd highly recommend Mamasita to friends
Amazing food. Well priced menu. Friendly staff. Good drink selection.
Excellent service and delicious food. Would highly recommend.
Great food and value for money with different levels of dining choices
We had a set menu 'Feed me up'. It was absolutely outstanding! Fabulous food, fantastic service. Will definitely come back and recommend to anyone.
Incredible night ! With an impeccable service from all the waiters. And a wonderful food!! We ordered the closed menu indicated by the waitress and surprised us on every dish! It is a great choice!
Firstly, the entire menu is GLUTEN FREE!
We chose the lunch set which was an excellent way to sample various dishes. The Mamma Margarita was sensational. The ambiance was chilled, however, our wait staff on the day could have been more polite. Overall, highly recommend and I will go back again.
It is a lovely place with great food and atmosphere. One thing I didn't like was that the guy with long pony tail who showed us to our table approached us and asked us to leave at 7.45pm when my booking was supposed to be from 6pm to 8pm ! We found the waitress was also a bit pushy with asking about our order too many times when we first go there and nosy at times listening in on our conversation and commenting on our private discussion which we all found a bit odd. She knew her menu and delivered everything else well.
Great service and atmosphere, the banquets are the way to go
Food was great! Our wait staff were really helpful and polite and we really enjoyed our evening
Fabulous!! The staff were excellent-kept our surprise 4th guest quiet by only setting the table for 3...guest 4 late due to plane delayed...staff were happy for us to have a few drinks before ordering. Everything was delicious and we had a wonderful family reunion. Such a wonderful happy restaurant. Highly recommend. Thank You
The food is amazing and lots of GF options. Tequila starter was delicious and the Margarita are fabulous. Get a seat on the bench overlooking Collins Street for great view. Service was excellent. Great night out.
Really friendly and efficient service. Fresh, tasty, delicious food. Will be back! Thanks!
The food is by far some of the best I've eaten. Didn't want the meal to end. 11/10
Great spot for an authentic style Mexican feed. Wonderful attentive staff. Food was reasonably priced, just be mindful that some of the drinks can be expensive and ours made up over half the total cost of the final bill.
We arrived early to our booking and were seated immediately however our booking was requested for a table we were sat at a bench along the window overlooking the tram stop and street light directly outside. Staff offered us chips and guac (already in hand when asked if we'd like them and later charged $15 for what was presented as complimentary ) before leaving us to look over the menu. drinks were fabulous and food was even better, courses cane a bit fast which left us feeling like we were on a time line. Service could have been a little more personable however it was prompt given how busy the reaturant was. Staff were familiar with the menu and happy to make recommendations.
Cannot fault Mamasita. We tried about 9 things from the menu and every dish was rich in flavour and beautifully presented. They were happy to let us order slowly and savour the food and the bar staff were kind and attentive.
Was really good except our tiny high table meant we struggled with space and often had to be moving out of the way of other customers or staff. Food struggled to fit on our table and I would have been accepting of this if we hadn't asked for lower seating at a regular table. For $250 would have been nicer for the three of us to not of been squeezed onto such a small space. Luckily the staff were so welcoming and kind and the food was incredible, many thanks.
Even though we had a booking we still had to wait in line for our table.
I asked for corn on the cob to start, they brought out corn chips, salsa and guac instead. The presentation was appalling. Fonda's is cheaper and nicely presented.
We asked for 3 glasses of wine, they poured one and then didn't pour the other 2 for about 10minutes. It was odd.
The ceviche came out very quick and then we were waiting ages for the remaining dishes.
The music is far too loud. It is quite funny because numerous friends and family told me this before I booked. And its so true! The restaurant seems to have a reputation for terrible ambiance. Could not agree more.
The wait staff were lovely but the whole wrong start dish and weird way they only poured one glass of wine meant there was no way I was tipping.
Will not be back :)
I thought the food was quite pricey and very small in portion size. The high table got the cold wind from the stairwell which made the experience less comfortable. The waiter was great though. Very friendly and totally across everything going on. I wouldn’t recommend this place nor would I go back in a hurry as I think there are plenty options that are much better and offer a better ambiance and food at a lesser price.
Great food very close to authentic Mexican food, considering we are in Australia and Mexican ingredients are not easy to get. Great and friendly service.
High Chair seating at the back on the restaurant looking onto Collins was great for two people! Food was delicious. Margaritas a little expensive for what they were. Definitely will be back!
Great service experience and great food. However, the table booking system took our booking without checking with availability of seats. It was a overbooked Friday evening. Staff were proactive though, and took our drink orders while we waited for 20 mins. Opentable sucks as a booking platform. Maybe Mamasita can lose it for booking.
