My experience with The Lobby was exceptional. I couldn't ask for a more perfect night for my partner and I's anniversary dinner. They sat us right by the window with a beautiful view of the outside courtyard. The service was on par. Very professional. You don't see this type of service so much anymore.
Beautiful view and setting!
Always a great place to go for a meal or a cup of tea. Elegant, refined and wonderful food
Lovely as always! It's always fun seeing new items on their lunch menu.
We were in Chicago visiting from Michigan and went to The Lobby to celebrate our second anniversary. It was a very upscale place. Its was a slower night for the restaurant, but that just made it all the more romantic. From the moment we walked in till the moment we left the service was outstanding. I will definitely be back next time we are in Chicago
Great afternoon tea, great food and very flexible with options for re-fills/extra items. Very accommodating with special dietary restrictions.
Our server Ruben was amazing, very professional and also very friendly.
Best afternoon tea in the city!
I took my niece and two visiting colleagues from Tokyo for Sunday brunch. While my niece and I have been here many times before, it was a first time treat for my friends. Our outing exceeded our expectations in every way. The selection of food was impressive, even for me as a vegetarian. We all agree that the waffles are the best we've ever had, and we do appreciate the small size. The service was impeccable, the live music from the quartet was enjoyable but never interfering, and the dining room is oh so pretty. My niece and I will continue to visit The Lobby for brunch, but you now have two people who would gladly travel from Tokyo to eat here again. Thank you for helping me create a lovely and lasting memory.
Afternoon tea is an annual birthday event for my Daughter. We always have a pleasant experience.
A top class restaurant and hotel. Always a pleasure to dine or stay there.
Great dinner. Live music so a bit difficult for conversation. But very lively and beautiful restaurant. Meal was excellent! Worth the visit!
Let's face it, afternoon tea is expensive (hence the lower value rating). But they are a very nice treat. We have been to 4 or 5 of these now in Chicago, and the Peninsula Lobby is the best we have been to. The service is exquisite, the sandwiches and pastries unique, excellent, and enough to take home and have your own afternoon tea in your house the next day.
We've had brunch elsewhere that well surpassed this brunch, and for far less money. Unfortunately, we were disappointed to see what was offered for $85 a person. The hotel / ambiance was very nice, but the food offered was not worth the price. We would not return for this reason.
Noise set to moderate only because of the live band (which was excellent)
Food and service was great. The desert buffet was some of the best deserts we have ever ate, highly recommended!
We had a wonderful time attending the High Tea at the Peninsula’s Lobby! The food was wonderful and the service was superb. The live light music from the string quartet was the perfect touch to a superb setting and afternoon tea. I highly recommend this excellent place to enjoy a special occasion with family and friends.
The Lobby in the Peninsula is a wonderful place for a Sunday brunch. It's such a pretty room, good food and lots of it. The service was just a bit not up to what it usually is yesterday. I had to ask for coffee and the check and it was just a bit slower than normal. It wasn't overly crowded either. Will go again as it could have just been a slightly off day.
We had dinner at the Lobby as a party of four adults. We loved the live music - jazzy versions of pop songs and not too loud (could have been a bit softer) so you could still converse. The ambiance of the Lobby is great with its high ceilings and the feeling of being in a classy traditional restaurant.
But the quality of the food was not what it should be, especially given the price. The octopus and Greek salad starters had little flavor. Our dishes were presented well but were bland and uneven. Two in our party had medium rare steaks - one was on the raw side (purple meat) and the other was medium (pink meat). The barrimundi was overcooked on top and had little flavor. While the side of corn was delicious, the side of mac and cheese was a disgrace, dry and without any taste and hardly any cheese sauce.
The service was uneven. The wait staff were friendly enough but they seemed distracted and were not to be found for several long periods during our meal. We had sparkling water for the table and someone later filled our water glasses with regular tap and when told replaced only one glass with a fresh glass of sparkling water. Our starters were served promptly and the plates cleared and then our entrees took 15 minutes to arrive. After being presented with dessert menus, we had to flag down our waiter to get an explanation of the chocolate bar, a signature feature of the restaurant! We were really rooting for this restaurant. It has the potential be fantastic but needs to improve the food substantially and the service as well.
Went for afternoon tea. Was amazing from start to finish. Beautiful room, live musicians playing, lovely flowers and china/table setting. I was with kids ages 15 to 4. Kids under 12 were given coloring book and crayons at the start. Kid’s tea menu was perfect (gummy bears, mini slider, pb&j, ham and cheese shaped like a bear!...) and the adult tea was outstanding. Bombay chai was delicious!!! Every item served was scrumptious. Kids were presented with a small teddy bear to take home too! My 15 year old got to have one too :) Everyone was very courteous and were so kind to the children, never making them feel out of place. Pricey, but worth every penny for the memorable experience. Can’t wait to return!!!
Afternoon tea was lovely. The selection was great and service impeccable. Our server Ubaldo was so attentive and really took it over the top for us.
First-time afternoon tea was a delight and made my 30th birthday special. I was very impressed with the service and ambiance. Gorgeous space. The tea and scones were fantastic. The quiche was great. The sandwiches were good, the pastries were ok. I’ve wanted to come here for a long time and I’ll be back soon cause it felt so special and was certainly worth the money in my opinion
Lovely tea. It would be so much better if you had proper tea cups and saucers to match your lovely plates.
The plain white coffee cups were rather dreadful.
It was so wonderful how the waiters came around with hot water and filled our tea pots.
Awesome! The delicacies met expectations and the service was quite attentive.
I didn’t get 100 points.
I LOVE this place. The Friday night live music trio selection on September 21st was AMAZING.
The services is always impeccable and food is always very good. My mom and I share a birthday month, I brought her last year for her birthday. It was my birthday, I celebrate here often for myself and with friends. This time I brought a friend that had never been, and she LOVED it!!1 She's already planning a date with her husband.
This place is very very expensive....but the food .....service and ambiance was incredible.
The food is like Iron chef material....and the deserts....you got to see it all to appreciate it .
You go here for dinner for a special occasion cause your going to drop a load of money but so worth it
Don't waste on kids more a couples place .
Wonderful all around! The tea, the food, and especially the service were all incredible!
Everything was as expected. Service was good! The tea selection was good. The food was good but it wasn't anything special. However, it is afternoon tea, so it was to be expected. It was quiet and pleasant on a Sunday afternoon.
Possibly the best Sunday brunch in Chicago. The ambiance is wonderful, the service is exceptional and the buffet selection is broad and everything is fresh and delicious.
Well prepared meal
Magnifique endroit calme et spacieux. La cuisine est bonne et le service attentif. Les vins sont un peu cher.
Excellent in every way
We went for afternoon tea and our server Jan was exceptional! He was attentive and friendly, made sure all of our needs were met and more! That’s how you define true hospitality. He made our anniversary celebration even more perfect.
Excellent Saturday lunch pre-show 2pm Hamilton performance. A wonderful day all around!
It was pretty delicious and good service. We spent wonderful time.
Very nice place for afternoon tea and breakfast. Has a very upscale feel to it.
My wife’s birthday weekend. We first got sat next to the waiters bar so all we heard was the
We loved the afternoon tea at the Lobby! It is such a beautiful setting in the Pennisula hotel. The food and tea were delicious and the table service was great! They also asked about any allergies and accommodated my husband’s.
High Tea service is so much fun. The food is classic high tea: finger sandwiches and sweets that look perfect and beautiful. The array of teas is a lot of fun. You can also upgrade to a champagne as well. Service is impeccable, decor is classic, ambiance is relaxed and chic, and the experience is one of a kind.
Wonderful experience (as expected). We have enjoyed fine afternoon tea around the world but none better than that served by the Pen in Chicago. What was also pleasing was that the portions of sandwiches, cake etc were not overwhelming. However replenishments were readily available as needed at no additional cost. The staff could not do enough to help us - all in all, magnificent !
High tea just for vegans!!! Win!!!
New chef. Awful food. I go here often and this is the first time I’ve been very disappointed. The bread is loaded with pepper as is the amuse. I ordered the Filet. Overcooked. Came with a “wine sauce” that is literally demi right from Cisco out of the package. The filet also came with about a teaspoons worth of mashed potato and 4-5 small undercooked sour root veggies. The worst part is that all I got was an apology. No one offered to make it right - that was the manager’s fault; the server was excellent.
