45 for a petit filet over cooked with cold sauce and rushed through the meal.
Food was fabulous , great service. Reservations were for 6:00 pm we arrived and were seated right on time .This is our second time and we will defenitley be back. Awesome
Food was cool to cold. Long gap between appetizers to delivery of dinner suggests the food was ready but not served. The manager was willing to address the issue, unfortunately we were attending a performance that made further delays impossible. In the end they comped the entrees, which was quite nice. My guess is that they need s bit better coordination between the back end and front end operators. Personally, I won’t be returning.
Incredibly noisy, over priced, good food, friendly and helpful staff. Not sure I'd go back.
Food was great. My biggest issue was the hostess could have seated us the 15 mins early when we got there, with reservations. She said come back to the hostess stand in 15 and we will seat you meanwhile we stood in the bar and watched a table for two go empty until 6 when she said we can seat you now and it was that table.
Ready for our reservations quick service. Attention to details. Excellent food.
My problem isn’t so much with Nick and Stef’s as it is with Open Table. We made a 6:30 pm reservation there months ago to dine prior to an 8:00 pm concert. But we were not seated until 7:15 and had to rush through dinner. The friendly and professional staff had to explain that Open Table has overbooked the restaurant. This is on you guys - they had no incentive to dig themselves into such an embarrassing joke. The terrific staff saved the day with a positive attitude and by doing everything possible to get us out on time. Food was great and we made the concert by the skin of our teeth. But I wouldn’t blame Nick and Stef’s if they ditched Open Table for another reservation app.
Terrible! I had a 6:30p reservation n wasn’t seated till 7:15p after having to stand at the desk asking numerous times when will I be seated as I was going to a concert! No apology but kept complaining about Opentable over booking them! Manager came by later asked how things were. He sent us a round a drinks which was nice that at least someone was somewhat apologetic! Won’t be going back bc this is the second time this has happened.
I had the bone in NY steak. Worst piece of meat I’ve ever had. I should have sent it back. This restaurant is in MSG which is the only thing about it I can recommend. There have to be better places to eat near there.
Food was excellent a great spot to enjoy an evening at MSG very good steak and drinks good service and a staff who now show to get you out in time
Disappointed this time around. Ordered the 28 day dry aged prime NY strip medium well and it arrived beyond well done. Dried out, not juicy, tough and not at all what you'd expect for $63.
Awful food. Shrimp cocktail was wet and soggy
The porterhouse tastes like it was precooked. It had a disgusting flavor and asparagus was ice cold!!
We had a great meal at Nick and Stef's before a concert at MSG. The food and service were great.
it was a bit pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
Our St. Vincent's nurses reunion was great at Nick and Stefs. Planning another in Jan. and the ease of location was great for all. Next time I would ask for a round table for 10 just for ease of talking to all.
Great location, right at Madison Square Garden. Excellent steak, food.
Ordered the steak salad and was blown away by the steak and the greens in the salad. Awesome meal for a business lunch
My party and I were seated immediately for our reservation, however one of the hostesses was a bit rude, she took the menus and just began walking very fast to the table. The other hostess had to prompt us to follow her, which at that point she was half way to the table, she then dropped the menus on the table and proceeded to walk back to the front without even confirming if we were ok with the table.
Fortunately our waiter was 100% more nicer and immediately made the rest of our experience satisfactory.
The food was good, my favorite was the slab bacon appetizer, the porterhouses for two was a bit on the smaller side but tasty.
Our waitress was even kind enough to get our tickets for the Knicks game printed out in the office, which I thought was a very nice gesture.
It's amazing how a steak restaurant in the center of Manhattan can't deliver a steak at the desired temperature (ordered my steak at Medium with the hope of getting Medium Rare and got something between Rare and Medium Rare). Add a complimentary Béarnaise sauce that was much closer to a watered down Hollandaise and you end up with a disappointing meal served in the overabundant energy of fans on their way to Knick game.
Frankly, I'll pass.
Walked in and was seated immediately only to wait about 20-25 minutes to have an actual order taken. It made what was suppose to be special mediocre and i wish we would’ve gotten service as great as their food. Waiter had too many tables which made the dining experience poor.
Food is definitely some of the best I’ve tried in a while considering price point but definitely worth it.
Cocktail list could be better but the wine list is superb.
Dessert was okay nothing to rave about but never the less it was good.
Overlooked by wait staff
Good food always
Great spot for pre-MSG event with easy access to the garden from the restaurant. Steak was perfect and side dishes delicious. Wait staff attentive and very friendly. We were late for our reservation due to traffic and they were so nice and able to accommodate us. Will definitely go back! Worth the drive.
I have been to Nick & Steff's many times over the years and was always entirely satisfied until last night.
This time was a total disappointment. The food was poor, a $60 NY Steak perhaps as good as Outback...perhaps. Side dish was delivered nowhere near the way I asked for it (requested well-done if not burned potatoes. They arrived under cooked but the waiter never bothered to ask.) Filthy glassware replaced on request without so much as an apology. Waiter disappeared after taking order and never once asked if things were all right. Apart from the fellow who kept our water glasses filled this might as well have been a one off buffet.
We were on the way to a Knick game. My guest had also eaten here many times. Next time, he said, lets just eat at the food court in the arena. I agreed.
Great bar, food and service. The dinning room is large enough so you are not sitting on top of each other. It's a little noisy but overall a great place!
the reason to recommend is location. next to the garden, can't be beat
Birthday dinner and concert
Great for anniversary dinner before Billy Joel. The wait for a table with a reservation was terrible though. We had a 6:30 reservation and were not seated until 7pm. The waiting area was cramped and cold as it was near the door.
My husband and I had 6pm reservations at Nick & Stef’s Steakhouse prior to a concert at MSG. We were brought to a table after about 15 minutes that we should have refused right from the start but we were worried that if we turned down the table, we would be late for the concert. The table was sticking out in the very fastpaced thoroughfare where there should never have been a table. The table was arm’s distance from the servers’ computer station. We were bumped and hovered over while trying to enjoy our dining experience. We complained to a gentleman in a suit who proceeded to tell us that we will have a wonderful waitress. Well, he wasn’t wrong. Deanna was absolutely lovely and attentive but the gentleman should have moved us when he saw our displeasure. At the very least, an offer to comp dessert or a drink would have been appropriate but no such offer was made.
My husband started with French onion soup that he enjoyed thoroughly, saying it was not too salty and the cheese was perfect. He had the braised short ribs over risotto for his main entree which he said was absolutely delicious. I chose the fish special which was sea bass with pineapple salsa and an arugula salad. It was prepared well, very tasty but a rather small serving for the $40 price tag.
We declined coffee or dessert because the table location was really getting on our nerves. My suggestion is to stand up and say something when brought to a table that is not satisfactory. I will next time!
Food was excellent
Access to garden incredible
Noise level only negative
Great location if you are going to Madison Square Garden! Overall, the meal was very good. Complaints: tables are SO close together that you essentially end up sharing your meal with strangers (which I guess is expected in a restaurant this size in NYC); lamb chops were overcooked and a little dry; and prices are very high for size of portions. $190 plus tip for party of 2 with a single glass of wine for one guest.
Went here for a romantic pre-concert dinner and to celebrate a birthday! PERFECT location right next to MSG and we made early dinner reservations at 4:30 so it was quiet and fairly empty when we arrived and got to enjoy some quiet time before it really started to fill up around 5:30. Food was delicious and the price was to be expected for the convenient location! Would definitely go to Nick and Stef’s again before a concert!!
Had a great dining experience. Sal the manager, and the waiter were fantastic!!
Our server was very attentive and gave us the time we needed to discuss business, but never made us feel neglected. Steak was cooked perfectly
Very nice meal. As long as they are open, there eager to please but the bar tender end of night and after we spent thousands of dollars with 14 people, made us feel unwelcome. We were simply finishing our wine after dinner at the bar and he rudely said, we are closed. We weren’t even asking for a drink and it was a business meeting. Other than that, our wait staff was excellent and food very good. Just that bar tender at the end.
Great food! 5 of us had the filet mignon, and one had the salmon. All were cooked to specifications. Side dishes were delicious. New York Cheesecake for dessert was perfect! Wait staff were fabulous, friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend before a show at Madison Square Gardens.
Great for pre-concert dinner and pre-sports dinner. Wait staff was great. Lively atmosphere. Gets a bit loud. Great steak!
Great steak and excellent service our waiter John was terrific
Filer was overdone and lacked spices
We always eat at Nick & Steph's prior to attending concerts at MSG. The food is consistently good. Our waiter was excellent - not overbearing, but attentive and made sure to get us out in plenty of time to get to the show even though the restaurant was packed. The easy access to the Garden is a plus!! We had a great time!
THE WORST TABLE LOCATION EVER. Our table was located in a way that EVERY Time a waiter/waitress walked by, they hit the back of my chair. After about 25 times (I am not exaggerating) we began to slide the table over, so I would not get bumped, when a manager came rushing over to tell us we CANNOT move the table or their servers won't be able to get by. I told him I was getting bumped every time and he said he was sorry, BUT he repeated himself and said we CANNOT move the table. My mistake as we should have left, but instead I slid my chair over and sat on the corner of a 4 person square table.
SOOOO FRUSTRATING for a high priced restaurant.
I ordered the petite filet with mushroom sauce. Probably the best steak I’ve ever had. Amazing.
