Took 10 minutes just for someone to come to our table and acknowledge our presence after being seated. Waitress could not of been any less interested in being there and was practically inconvenienced by our presence there. Drinks were slow, waitress never brought our check and had to ask the hostess to get our bill, waitress pretty much ignored her. Had to go up front just to pay. One of our worst dining experiences service wise.
The service could be better and it did not feel as luxurious & premium as I would like the food was excellent but could have a better atmosphere
I've always enjoyed Macaroni Grill but not this location (Kingstowne Center, Alexandria, Virginia). Service was very slow, several orders where incorrect. It's not often that I have the desire to put 0.00 on the tip line but this was one of those nights but I held back the urge.
It took some time for our waiter to arrive... our wine orders took a very long time to arrive and were wrong. The tomato basil soup was actually mariana sauce, and out signature bread was undercooked. Not the Mac Grill we’re used to
Disinterested and extremely slow service. We will not be returning.
Great experience, outstanding service by the waitress, excellent food, great parking. My only negative is the seating could have been distance from the cooking area, too noisy! Overall great experience. Will vist again.
We really, really wanted this to be a positive experience. We’ve always enjoyed Macaroni Grill, both this one in years past and others when we travel. It’s especially frustrating that this one is just a mile from our home. Sadly, this visit, like our two previous, was disappointing, particularly the service.
When we checked in with the hostess, she gave the impression she was annoyed we were there. No one else was waiting, and there were empty tables available, but she said it would be a few minutes. No big deal. When I explained we had a reservation with Open Table, however, she replied, “Oh, we don’t really do that.” I insisted she log us in anyway so we didn’t appear as a no-show (we had that problem once before at another restaurant - got a curt note from Open Table and had to send a copy of our receipt to prove we’d actually dined there).
Our server was okay but unremarkable, and the food was predictably good - generous portions, served hot, decent overall.
So disappointed Macaroni Grill (this one, anyway) discontinued their Family Meal Deal. They’re no longer as good a value as Maggiano’s down the road (who, for the same price, would give us additional pasta dinners to take home). We have lots of other options in the area, so we won’t be returning here.
Service was pretty good. They had new staff that was honest about it, so we could understand them doing things a little differently. New stuffed mushrooms were delicious
Incredibly disappointed in our visit. We needed to ask several staff just to be recognized to be seated. When we finally were, our waiter disappeared for 15 minutes and was very rude when we returned. I demanded to speak with a manager and this did not occur. Luckily, one waiter stepped up to serve our family. Despite his efforts, drinks were slow to be served, service was slow, and the food was hotel like moderate at best. What a waste of restaurant to spend a family night. Worst. Macaroni Grill. Ever.
BEWARE! Swiped our credit card and charged us an extra $95 for services we did not receive! We held a party there with over 30 people, so we gave them honest business and a generous tip...only to find that they charged us and “cashed out $95 EXTRA dollars!” Went to management when we saw the charge and they stated that they have had issues with this happening before. In addition there were mysterious charges to QVC the day after as well
On the same card. Coincidence? I think not. Had to cancel the credit card and report fraud. If you already know you have an issue with an employee, then WHY on earth would you continue to let them work there and do this?!? NEVER recommending this place to anyone. Food was good, extra serving of fraud was not!
I eat often at The Macaroni Grill. This likely is the poorest of overall experience to date. Great location. Attractive appearance. But seriously understaffed and very poor quality of food. The crispy artichokes antipasti was much too oily and my favorite entree (shrimp portofino) was too “wet”. Sorry to say this was a great overall disappointment for an evening meal with my family.
We went here once before, and the front desk service was so poor we left before being seated. We decided to try again last night, and immediately was disappointed.
The front desk people were arguing about who was working what tables. The girl that sat us, rolled her eyes and was annoyed she had to seat us.
The booth seats were FILLED with bread crumbs and food.
The server decided to sit at the bar and play on his phone most of the time, and forgot our appetizer. He didn’t check on us very often, and also seemed annoyed he had to do his job.
The floors and counter tops were sticky from a lack of cleaning. I saw a fruit fly, indicative of more messes somewhere long unattended.
This place goes on my top 5 list of worst customer service restaurants I have ever seen. I will not return.
Lack of staff on a prime Friday night meant very slow service. Several tables around us never got cleaned up during the 2 hour visit. I wouldn’t go back.
My family made a reservation at the Kingstowne Alexandria Macaroni Grill through Open Table for a Mother’s Day lunch at 2pm. I received confirmation that my reservation was received. On Mother’s Day my huge family arrives and there is nothing but chaos at Macaroni Grill. We’re told they never received our reservation and that they do not work with Open Table. We showed them our confirmation and the managers on duty refused to honor it. It was the worst customer service experience that I’ve ever seen and they really put a damper on the Mother’s Day celebration for the four Mother’s that were being celebrated in our group. My recommendation is if you are truly celebrating a special occasion don’t let the poor customer service at this restaurant ruin it for you!!
For some reason, everyone who made an appointment via Open Table here no longer had an appointment for today - Mother’s Day- leading to overcrowding of patrons and understaffed restaurant. It took us two plus hours to eat.
Overall, great experience with very good customer service. If you are bringing little ones, please be aware that ordering from the Kids Menu WILL bring you small portions. Some restaurants vary in dish size with Kids Menu, however here the portions were small and would satisfy maybe a three to five year old.
