All five in our party were thrilled with the dishes. Crispy Deviled Eggs were amazing. Prawns were fantastic in both East and West seasoning. Pumpkin cheesecake was a special seasonal treat. Service was also outstanding.

Adorable local spot with outdoor (and indoor) tables delivers casual, laid-back dining. Owner Alison added great value and went out of her way to ensure our experience was a good one. Small plate fish tacos were a big hit. Entrees were adequate portions and good for sharing. Flavors were unexpectedly sophisticated. I'd give it a shot if you're looking for an easy spot for everyday dining with friends and family.

This place is called Prawn Shop and while there are other seafood options, I think sticking to the prawns is the best bet. The meat in the rock crab I had was hard and tasteless; my cocktail was abysmal (a "Mexican Mule" that was ultimately mostly ginger beer over too much ice that melted quickly into a watered down mess). The oysters were good. The east-coast style prawn pot I got was amazing. Plump prawns, cooked to perfection with two hunks of bread which was hearty and soaked up the 'sauce' perfectly. The service was questionable; everyone was very nice, to be sure, but my oysters were forgotten at first (I did get the three most expensive ones comped as a result) and my drink had to be sent back (the second one, as described above, was still awful). It's a small place and it wasn't terribly crowded so the fact that I had TWO servers who couldn't keep it together was especially disappointing. I also got the impression that one just felt utterly over-worked; again, given the size of the space and the small amount of customers, this made me annoyed rather than sympathetic. Interestingly, tip is added in across the board ("to ensure employees can be paid a livable wage") -- an idea I completely embrace, in theory. Given the quality of service, though, I was not pleased with being forced to pay a gratuity I didn't feel was earned. I'd rather there be no gratuity and just have the costs incorporated into food prices. It would have felt less like a hijacking.

Great food in Brooklyn. I rarely venture out of Manhattan to eat, but this place will see me again. The service was great and its very hard to beat their happy hour specials on shrimp and oysters.

Food is pretty good. But, depending on what you get, the portions can be small and hence over-priced.

Started with cocktail prawns, tasted recently defrosted with a mushy outer layer. Not overtly bad, but definitely not fresh. Green curry mussels were the best thing we had, the bread it was served with was delicious. Ordered the Fried platter: big mistake. about half of the "fish" were empty prawn heads. When we gently mentioned this to our server he said "the tails have just fallen off". We responded that there were double the heads than tails in the platter... To which he responded "okay", and walked away. This left us is a little bit confused. He returned 5 minutes later with 2 freshly fried prawns which was kind, but the communication was a bit off. The most disappointed thing was the 18% gratuity which is part of their "no tipping policy". I had read it before on the website and saw it on the menu but the way it's written "all checks include an 18% administration charge" I assumed that meant it was built into the price of the meal as many NY restaurants are now doing. Obviously it's not. It's a very strange to feel forced to tip, especially as they try and pretend it not. The wording should be changed.

We were excited to discover this restaurant when we were driving by. We love seafood and go all over Brooklyn to find good seafood. Our favorite spots are Mussels and More in Bay Ridge and Brooklyn Crab in Red Hook. We were delighted to learn that Prawn Shop compares well to all those spots. So happy to have you in the neighborhood. We will definitely come back again!

Love this place. The happy hour oysters are wonderful and they have Narragansett beer on tap. The food is interesting and very tasty. And it's easily accessible by subway so a great place to bring Manhattan friends.

Very enjoyable experience. Kale and crab dip had a good, tasteful portion of crab meat. Snow crabs legs fresh with tasty dipping sauce (east coast). Great service, staff all very attentive and very friendly. Good neighborhood spot and great on a nice night.

Prawn shop's seafood is great. The kale crab dip is to die for, and the fish is fresh. That said, the boils were a bit underwhelming as it was really just the seafood and two pieces of bread. Some corn or potato would have been great. Also, the service was spotty. Our busboy was probably the most courteous/attentive. The server didn't seem to know the menu well, was very disengaged and never checked back on us.

We had a super evening - one of those meals where we relaxed and laughed. The food was spot on - fresh and cooked perfectly. The staff were outstanding and made it a memorable evening. We already know we are going back. I almost don't want to rave about the Prawn Shop for fear we won't be able to get a table Bc it's so popular.

Reservations were easy to get for 745 on a Saturday and we get there and inside was full and VERY noisy. We sat outside, on a sloped sidewalk at large picnic tables. The menus and buckets with tools and a bib were already on the table. Drinks came quickly but the food took a VERY long time to arrive. When it did the mussels I ordered were really small and overcooked, the crab was dry and hard to get out of the shell, and the polenta didn't have much flavor. Then came the surprise. I don't know if this is normal for NY (we were in from out of town) but there was a 18% gratuity mandatory already put in so that their servers could be paid real wages and not depend upon tips. If you want your staff to be paid well, you pay them, don't mandate what my tip has to be. What if we had complaints (which we did)? They were brushed off with lopsided apology for the kitchen getting backed up. So we paid your slow staff, that could not balance the load of a Saturday night when it wasn't yet busy, 18%. We're not going back, and not recommending it.

Not so good. Ceviche was mushy and bland. Burger was just ok. Warm brownie was not warm. Oysters were nice but u can get those anywhere -- and at lower price .Did like crab and kale dip! Really wanted to like this place but was disappointed.

I dont know where to start -- between the freshness, the service and the cost for such quality this place is a true neighborhood hit. Service is warm, friendly and fun. Seafood (especially their namesake prawns and crab legs) are fresh and cooked to perfection. Excellent quality, portion size and most important, damn good flavor. Cocktails and wines are fantastic and also, yet again, really affordable. The happy hour is a bargain and runs on the weekend, as well. tasty $1 oysters and $1 fat prawn cocktails. Mules are great and cheap. I honestly walk out feeling full and like I ripped them off the prices are way reasonable (and include service charge, i.e. tip is included.) A must return and I am really looking forward to the weather warming up so I can feast on my prawns outside on their picnic tables!

favorite new spot in the neighborhood! super friendly staff (Alison is especially cheerful and welcoming) in an elevated seafood "shack". the happy hour is pretty legit with dollar oysters and prawns but the standouts here are the boils. I have been 4 times since they've opened and am making my way around the menu, favorites being the blue crab, the prawns and the mussels in the west coast sauce. the succotash side is a surprising must order. skip the brownie and go for the key lime dessert. cocktails are on point, especially the Old Brooklyn ($9 cocktails - amazing!) and next up I will surely check out their mules. Prices are beyond reasonable for what you're getting especially with tip already included in the price. (again, $9 cocktails, how can you beat that) This place is pure magic in the slope. oh I will be back....!
