First time in DC! Looking for quaint Italian restaurant. This was a perfect fit. Save room for dessert.
Good not great.
Best eggplant parm that I didn't have at someone's home.
The manager and staff went above and beyond to make our special occasion fabulous. I felt like royalty with the type of service. 12/10 would recommend!
Very impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. Would definitely visit again.
I ordered the short rib and it was all fat. When the waiter asked how my meal was I informed him that the short rib was all fat. He just ignored me. Plus too many mushrooms. My friend and I were seated next to a concrete pillar which separated us from the other diners. We did not feel like a part of the restaurant. The pillar was also dirty.
Great food and fast service without feeling rushed. :)
Solid place with a good ambiance and great service. Food was okay, nothing out of this world. We started with the Ricotta Bruschetta. Three finger sampling pieces of bread with dollop of Ricotta on top, would have been nice to have 4 to split. I had the Chicken Parm, sauce was fresh, but not much going on, broccoli was under cooked and hard to pierce with a knife. House red was good, get the half carafe instead of the bottle, more bang for your buck ($20/500mL or $39/750mL). Dessert was the best part, Ricotta Cheesecake was on point. The mix of brownie base with smooth cheesecake on top paired nicely together. All in all we got out for under $100 splitting an appetizer, getting two entree's, splitting a dessert, and half carafe of wine. I would go back.
Great service! A
Title noisy but is WAS a Friday night. We’ ll be back!
Excellent food and service including a complimentary dessert
Excellent and really good food!
For the most important dining occasion of the year (my mother's birthday), Alta Strada City Vista hit the culinary grand slam of superlative food, service, ambiance, and resounding memories! Thank you to Chefs Matt Adler and Alex Levin, Manager Matt, our server Shawn, and the ASCV team for making my mom's birthday celebration such a festive and memorable event!!
The food (spicy shrimp pappardelle and corn agnolotti were exquisite on their own but further elevated by each other; the best donuts around--bomboloni), service (attentive and welcoming as well as wonderful surprise visit by Chef Schlow), and ambiance (cheery, fresh air, and lots of natural lighting) were all top notch!!!
The food was delicious! Very flexible in modifying/customizing menu options. Excellent service!
Extremely over priced for quality and service. Two wait staff for a packed dining area. Very inattentive to the needs of customers. Took 45 minutes to get two small pizzas. Management didn’t respond to request to speak to them about service issue.
Wow. This place does Italian RIGHT. It doesn’t look like much of anything fancy from the outside, even like a chain basically (i know they have other locations). But don’t let it deceive you. The food is absolutely delicious. We got lots on the menu and ended up exchanging bites all around and everything was incredible. The fettuccine, the bolognese, OMG the crispy meatballs (must get), the chicken Milanese with a delicious salad with it, the cavatelli... all so good. The portions are perfect, and filling. Most of us brought leftovers home, such a treat next day. Can’t wait to come back.
The staff were extremely lovely, making our family feel very welcome and relaxed.
The food was excellent, with outstanding, authentic flavors (not 'merican 'talian).
We can't recommend highly enough, and would make this place a regular stop if we lived in the area.
Alta Strada never fails to please. The pasta dishes are particularly inventive and delicious.
Excellent food and service, but too expensive.
I sat outside with my group and it was lovely. The only issue is being forgotten. Our server did not check in on us frequently thus we had a 2.5 he dinner...on a Tuesday night. Otherwise everything was lovely.
Small menu but very well executed. Restaurant week is a fixed price menu with a few items missing from the regular menu, but everything we had was well worth it! Fettuccini with mushrooms and truffle oil was outstanding. Salmon was great as well. Loved the octopus appetizer.
Brought a friend here for dinner, as it's one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants - she tried the funghi / mushroom pizza that I ordered and said it might be the best pizza she's ever had in her life. She's still talking about it two days later! Definitely a great place and if you haven't been, you're missing out. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but some favorites include... the funghi pizza, the fettuccini with mushrooms, and whatever special / seasonal pasta is on the menu -- they're always trying something new and it's always fantastic.
Brought my family for brunch and had a great experience. Excellent pasta and Italian dishes, strong brunch items like breakfast pizza and French toast, surprisingly tasty kale salad. Fun drinks and a knowledgeable bartender. First-rate service.
This restaurant was really empty for brunch which wasn't especially fun.
Great service and great food! We ordered both seasonal and classic Italian foods and were beyond impressed. Service blew us away as well
This was my second visit, and my second disappointment. Both times, the place was sweltering. They had fans going, but they did little to make in comfortable. Service was ok, but benign. The food was lackluster, especially for the price. Don't see myself going back,
The salad dressing and the main course were very salty.
Despite a Post review that noise levels were "astonishingly low," the blaring music and the amplified bar chatter made it very unpleasant. The food was acceptable, but not worth the drive. Not recommended.
We had no place to go for lunch so I went to Yelp to see what was around. Alta Strada turned out to be absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!!
Have been going there for a few years. Started with Ben (@ the Bar-5*) and just had Lorena (for 2nd time-5*) a real sweetheart. Very accommodating for people and food selections....PASTA'S are divine as well as the PIZZA. Will always come back. ((Thanks Matt-GM-5*).
Shouldn't have to wait 45 min after reservation time to be seated, with no apology.
Food and service were great. The desserts (gelato and cheesecake) were delicious.
Awful food, poor service - avoid at all costs. (and it WILL cost you!)
A small gem of a restaurant near the convention center. My wife and I had a wonderful experience. The wait staff and management worked together as a team to ensure customers are taken care of well.
Server Natasha was super helpful! Great food, great service!
What a great find! Went for a date and it was a great experience, very good service and outstanding food. Will certainly be back.
Had a great time as always. Food and drinks were great, service was solid but could have been a bit more attentive. Look forward to my next visit!
I had been to Alta Strada when they first opened and loved it! Couldn't wait to go back, but very disappointed - not nearly as good this time
Could not judge noise level, as it was not very full. Food was great and service extremely friendly without being overbearing.
Wifey and I went out looking for an Italian place last second without a reservation on a Saturday night and found AS. We loved it! The menu isn’t too extensive but both dishes we had were very good and reasonably portioned. By that I mean not extra large helpings, but enough to fill you. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice Italian meal while in DC.
My boyfriend and I decided to go to Alta Strada to celebrate my 30th birthday and I can honestly say it was a mistake. When we arrived, the place was completely empty - literally not a single other person there besides the staff. Weird, but we checked in and were brought to a table. It was obvious they didn't know/care we were there to celebrate, but we brushed it off. Overall the service was just weird and somewhat rude. Weird because instead of explaining the menu, our server spent the entire time explaining what dishes could/couldn't accommodate food allergies. Nice to know except neither of us have food allergies and the server never bothered to ask. It was so weird that when the kitchen put prosciutto on a dish we had ordered, he literally ran over to apologize and offered to make a new one. Rude because for all the apologizing he did, he made it pretty obvious that he was trying to rush us out. He came by 5 times in the span of 5 mins to get us to order. It was so awkward that we even told him we weren't in a hurry. I'd understand if they needed the table, but since the restaurant was still pretty empty, it just felt rude and unnecessary. By this point we were regretting picking this restaurant, but we hoped that the food would be good enough to make up for the service. We asked for some bread, but what they brought was stale, like it had been left out. We ordered two appetizers - the crispy meatballs and bruschetta - which were both pretty good though a bit over priced. For entrees, my boyfriend ordered the fettuccine and I got the agnolotti. While the portion sizes were decent, both were too heavy and the ingredients felt like they were fighting each other. The biggest problem for me was that my dish was served lukewarm with a giant portion of cold creme fraiche so all you tasted was cold pasta. A lot of this I'd excuse if they were busy, and maybe our experience was just a fluke, but regardless, it's pretty safe to say we won't be returning.
