Zagat has rated Il Mulino New York as Manhattan’s No. 1 Italian restaurant for decades and has said the restaurant provides "one-of-a-kind" cuisine filled with delicious flavors, creating an "outstanding Italian classic" restaurant where "every dish is a masterpiece."
DINNER MON - SAT 5:00PM - 11:00PM, SUN 4:00PM- 10:00PM
Amazing meal food recommendations wine, ask for Rudy and share a grappa with Andrea. The most amazing buffalo mozzarella app and delicious pasta with white truffle and veal piccata to die for! Service impeccable. Overall A+ and we have eaten a lot of Italian food.
Great whenever with whoever for whatever occasion
Il Mulino never disappoints. After dining there for over 20 years you appreciate the culinary experience. Every bite is perfect and you don’t want the meal to end. The Ricotta Cheesecake is to die for!
The dinner exceeding expectation...top notch service and the food was memorable. I highly recommend the veal milanese and the spaghetti carbonara. You will not be disappointed.
Amazing as always. Best place in the city!
Great, we should have selected meals effectively if pricing was announced upfront in reciting specials
We had a fabulous time and Rudy was terrific! The food was great and I would have given it a five except the soup was too salty. This is definitely on my list when returning to NYC.
Impeccable service from start to finish. Was initially surprised to see a lot of traditional Italian dishes on the menu, but pleased to discover that they were exquisitely prepared. Would highly recommend this establishment for a wide range of occasions.
Been going for 30 years. Never gets tired, never disappoints. Food is simply amazing and always surprised and pleased by specials. Service is impeccable yet friendly and so accommodating. Is it expensive yes, but they make you feel special and worth it.
Best classic Italian dinner New York has to offer!
OMG! Biagio is amazing! He makes every guest feel special. He is Il Mulino. I’ve been to Il Mulino Prime but they don’t have a Biagio. It was my Father’s birthday and Biagio went above and beyond for him. In the dark! The lights went out in the dining area temporarily but Biagio did not break a sweat. I look forward to visiting Il Mulino again just for the food and Biagio’s timeless service alone. Worth it! The Branzino was amazing by the way!
Wow! What an incredible meal. Our waiter was so nice and friendly and helped us with the menu. The chef sends out delicious zucchini, salami, chunks of parmesan, among other things. Amazing! We definitely will go back the next time we are in NYC!
Outstanding food and service.a bit pricey but well worth it.would go back .
The food is really good in the menu is varied. They start you out with a lot of little plates of food that are delicious. I had the Oso Buco which was very tender and tasty. We are Asian but not from Asia. We don’t speak another language. When we entered and departed, they spoke Japanese to us. I guess they were trying to make us feel comfortable but it was a little weird. Service was really good.
The restaurant is authentic southern Italian. The service is impeccable. Food is delicious.
I have been going to this location of Il Mulino for years and it never disappoints. The service and food are worth the drive from Queens, and worth the money. Just wonderful.
Wasn’t sure what to expect but it was amazing. Every dish was as good as the next
Love this place
Great Italian restaurant!!
All facets are perfect !!
This is a perfect destination for celebrating a special occasion. Service is professional, food delicious and excellent. A bit pricey, but worth it if you are celebrating. Best part of the dinner, being greeted by Claudio at the door.
From the service to the food everything was perfect. We have been to Italy and this Italian restaurant made me feel like I was back in Italy. With the amazing service and the tasty food. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting New York or if you are a local. This is the most authentic Italian food I have had since we have been back in the states.
I frequented Il Mulino often in the '90's and early 2000's, but hadn't been back to the original in years. I was concerned that the "chain" effect with all the new ones would have ruined the original, but this is not the case. We had a great time as a family, the food was that same awesome old-school Italian, albeit pricey (which has always been the case...). However, the wine list, while somewhat limited for an upscale NYC restaurant, had some wines in our price point that I was very happy with. Overall, with tip and tax, wine, etc. it's hard to get out of there for much less than $200 a head, but every dish we ordered was great (for what it is) from the three pasta "tris" we started with, the branzino in salt, langoustines, and the cut orange to top it off. Service was excellent and friendly (in a NY kind of way...), always attentive and helpful- an example, my wife was hoping that the sabayon would have been made tableside, like it used to , so when it arrived in a dish she said something to the waiter. He said, "I'll be right back..." and came back and made a second portion table-side; nice touch! This is not "inventive" Italian, this is very much the garlic, red sauce, creamy, Italian food that we were after. And I still love the barrage of food at the start- the sauteed zucchini is my favorite. We all left completely stuffed. My kids want to go back like next week, but it might be a while- even I'm already looking forward to returning.
Excellent all the way around. Beautiful meal !
Food was very good but a but over priced. $39 for Calamari app which was regular size and not family size is over priced.
Always a fantastic authentic full service experience !!!
As always, excellent service with attention to detail and wonderful food! Elegant waitstaff and environment too,
Everything was perfect, great food, ambiance and wine. It was a family dinner. The kids loved the food. One point to note, they do not have high-chairs, so we had to manage with our 3 year old sitting on a regular chair.
As usual, the food and service was superb from start to finish. Brought friends who had never been here and they loved it. At first you might feel that the tables are a little close, but after a few minutes you feel like you are part of a big Italian family!
Excellent; old world classic charm. Superb food. Kind staff
Booked for Restaurant Week menu but arrived to find that opentable took reservation though RW prix fix not offered here. Despite mixup, service was great, food delicious, and they made my guest’s birthday feel special. Awkward mixup but restaurant still very good. Traditional, tasty, timeless.
Over priced and very loud. Ambience is dated. Service is robotic - like without any personality.
Saw friends there. They called me the next day and felt exactly the same.
Would never recommend this restaurant as it may have been good 20 years ago but a disappointment today
Always love coming here, everything is always perfect, the food, the service, the ambiance!
Amazing everything. Not to be missed!
Great atmosphere and perfect place to celebrate my birthday with family. Service was excellent, and everyone loved their food. We had the dessert platter which we all devoured! Thank you for a wonderful evening!
This was the best Italian food I have ever eaten outside of Italy! The service was amazing and I left not only satisfied by the meal but feeling like I had several new friends in the staff. I can't recommend it highly enough! Amazing evening!
The food at Il Mulino is the best Italian food I have ever eaten in my life.....and I have been to Italy a few times! Been coming here for years and it never disappoints!!
Amazing cheese n amazing food.
The portion was more than sufficient.
Claudio was amazing and the food incredible. So good my kids hugged him out the way out. And they are picky eaters. We will be back one hundred times over. Such care and devotion to ensuring and excellent experience.
Great night out with friends
This was more than a meal
It was an experience
From the moment we entered and saw the waiters in tuxes and bow ties and the italian accents to the cheese wedges and bruschetta and the zucchinni antipast and the bread both garlic and their special we were so impressed before we even got our menus
Our waiter recited almost the entire menu for us and we ordered the escargot and burrata apps
The escargot was served in a mushroom with a gravy
A little unusual bot really tasty
The burratta came with prosciutto that melted in your mouth and was amazing
On the waiters recommendation we got the veal chop and rack of lamb entrees and our wives had the shrimp francaise
The lamb was melt in your mouth and the veal was excellent too
The shrimp was jumbo and tasty but not great
After our plates were taken the waiter brought over some chilled italian grappa
We finished with the cannollis which had an unusual orange flavored filling but was good none the less
We knew from reading other reviews that it was pricy so we expected it
I was a little upset that thd waiter reccommended the two most expensive entrees on the menu
Rack of lamb at $90 was a little pricy and veal chop at $72
But overall it was a great night out
The meal took about 2 1/2 hours and it was one of the best italian restaurants we have ever eaten at
