From the stunning stone Cellar Door, to the rustic yet elegant Book Barn housing our restaurant and bookshop, we invite you to experience the beauty and first-class hospitality of Bendooley Estate.
We were very disappointed with our Margarita Pizza. One side of the crust was badly burnt and the topping left a lot to be desired. There was very little tomato and other than cheese nothing else.
I was very surprised to see the owner or manager dust off prints from the walls with chux wipes which were used for making coffee and the dirt left on them was definately a health hazzard.
Fabulous casual lunch, attentive staff, great value, a winner
Mark our host was absolutely wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us!!! He showcased several wines & has outstanding service skills! The only complaint was it was COLD in there!!! The fire needs to be pumping & possibly rugs on floor or at least throw rugs for knees
I have been to Bendooley Estate several times and we always order a starter and a main , on this occasion we did the same but this time both starters and main meals were brought out at the same time.
We did consider questioning as to why and sending the main meals back but the food is so good we felt it was a shame to do so but we were and still are surprised as to why this occurred
Hi, Our lunch was very good except that it was a very cold day and we were near the door opening and closing. I should have asked for a table near the fire. However the staff kindly moved us to a table closer to the fire for our dessert and coffee. Food was fantastic and service was great too.
What an enjoyable experience. The food was perfectly prepared. It was a 50th Birthday and will always be remembered
2nd time and loved it!!
Gorgeous stylish upmarket country restaurant with city class food.
I highly recommend it
A lovely winter's lunch, and a beautiful place to visit.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary here as we had originally had our wedding at Bendooley. It was great to see that the level of service, quality of food and lovely ambience is as wonderful as ever. Thanks for a lovely experience yet again!
Great food and wine, pleasant staff and excellent ambiance. Have for some time recommended this location; and will continue to recommend Bendooley.
The food was great, and we loved the combo of the interiors, the books and dining. The prices were a little high, however, and it got busy very quickly (so best to go early). All in all, we will probably visit again.
Great food. Consistent.
Good wine and lovely service
Steak was outstanding and with the caramelised onion and salsa verde was sensational. My partner had some delicious goat shoulder and the parsnip and mushroom entre was tasty. Best meal un a long time. A surprisingly good experience with the wine tasting as well. We came home with lots more than we thought. Nice ambiance and design.
Loved it. Food was something very special although they were understaffed in the cellar door which also accommodates overflow diners from the restaurant.
Overall it was the perfect date lunch with my husband.
Booked a table for 5 on a Sunday afternoon. The booking process was very smooth and easy. When we arrived the wait staff were attentive and friendly. Great ambience as always and were lucky enough to get a table close to the fire. The only downside was the food took way too long to come. We were seated at 12.30pm and the food didn't arrive until 1.45pm. The same thing happened with our coffee order after the meal. It took a good 30mins for a cup of tea and 3 coffees to get to us. Could put it down to a busy Sunday lunch rush though.
Had a birthday lunch with the family here. It was beautiful! Great food, great wine
We absolutely love Bendooley. Only feedback for the day, was the fact that there was quite a lot of noise in the room. Probably due to the fact that there were multiple large party bookings.
The food was delicious but the service was very slow. Considering it was a Monday it wasn’t because it was crowded, but it may have been busier than they had staffed for. We ordered dessert and coffee. The coffee came, but no sign of the desserts. Eventually had to chase up a waiter who seemed surprised that we were still waiting. Desserts ultimately came and we were not charged for them. On the plus side, it was a glorious spot to sit in the sunshine on a winters day and enjoy delicious food.
I love bendooley! I had my wedding reception at bendooley. Something I thought could change was having the reception desk right next to where there is a table. My husband and I sat there and it was awkward to have someone speaking very loudly on the phone next to where you are trying to enjoy your meal. In saying that, the food, atmosphere and service as incredible! I always recommend Bendooley to everyone :)
Very nice food, however the service let it down. Atmosphere was nice.
Lovely atmosphere. Fantastic to be surrounded by books. Excellent food and service.
The lunch was enjoyable and the atmosphere was amazing. The food was not highly rated as my friend’s meal/meat was not medium to well done and my lamb burger was cold when it was served.
What a perfect spot for friends to meet for lunch, coming from Canberra and Sydney. The restaurant is cheerfully snd competently staffed, and the food is excellent!
We especially appreciated being able to chat easily, with no hint of feeling rushed or wearing out our welcome.
We were seated in Cellar and looked after exceptionally well. Delicious food, wonderful staff and lovely and warm. Thank you once again Bendooley for a beautiful lunch
Great afternoon wine tasting and and excellent lunch, place was busy as but staff where excellent with fantastic service. Can recommend and will have lunch again soon.
Wonderful food, and the in-restaurant bookshop was lovely to browse afterwards. More than what I would normally spend on lunch for two, but I knew it would be, and you certainly get what you pay for there - outstanding.
Great atmosphere amongst the books, though next time would book earlier to have views by the window to the lovely Estate.
Perfect getaway for a couple wanting to escape the rat race of Sydney!
Not in the winter, as it is too, too cold. Alright it is a 'barn', but perhaps even floor covering would help. Also, keep the pizzas, but time to change the rest of the menu.
Fireside table for 2 on a cold winter's day for lunch was a perfect start.
Service was friendly, prompt, efficient & informed.
Wood fired flat bread with rosemary salt was authentic & when topped with a side of whipped avocado, wasabi, black rice, coconut, herbs & lemon dressing became a creative masterpiece of flavour.
Black Angus eye fillet was outstanding & complimented with a glass of Bendooley Estate Cabernet Shiraz, it was a match made in heaven. We finished with Tunisian citrus samosas with orange caramel & vanilla ice cream, a deep fried pastry with explosion of flavour & beautiful espresso coffees.
Unfortunately the maitre d' was the only downfall as he was dismissive & unprofessional but with the wait staff, kitchen skills & ambience of the space his lack of hospitality became easy to overlook as we focussed on all the positive.
Lovely lunch, only minus was the flies.
They seemed to congregate around the windows inside and were very annoying.
Beautiful setting, interesting books to browse/buy before and after the meal, friendly service
Friendly and attentive staff. Food and wine were delicious
The restaurant was very busy but they did let us know service may be a little slow; we didn't have to wait long and our linguine was delicious accompanied by a Bendooley Rose. Service staff were busy but friendly and we had a lovely lunch
Beautiful setting, great quality food. Service was great as we entered but as soon as we tried to order a bottle of wine from a waitress serving us she told us she didn’t take orders or something and walked off. We then had to flag someone else down to assist. We had no one check in while we were eating and it took a while to order dessert.
We booked this with another couple for my partner's birthday. Service initially was good but after starters we were waiting for our nation's for a while but the waitress asked if we wanted desert menus we had to point out we were still waiting for our mains (it was the same waitress that took our order). After waiting more and watching tables come in and order after us get their food we queried where the food was and was met with a rude response that they were busy that day and the food would be out shorty. When then realised that our mains for missed. After finally receiving our mains we finished and waited patiently for the table to be cleared and desert menus to be offered. We sat for 20 minutes with empty plates in front of us. I had to ask for the plates to be cleared and desert menus. The waitress came over handes the desert menus but didn't bother to clear the plates. After this the lunch was ruined so I then asked for the bill which again didn't come. So we ended up going to the counter and paying ourselves. I'm sorry but I will never recommend going here to anyone again.
Food was amazing - beautiful setting. Will be sure to visit again
Excellent food, service, decor and amazing outlook. Strongly recommend to anyone looking for a great experience
I think we just timed our lunch wrong. We had a 1.45pm booking, we sat in the bar area, which was quiet and lacking in atmosphere that day. It seemed that the wait staff forgot about that side of the restaurant. We had to ask to order and they never checked back in to see if we wanted another drink or dessert/ coffee. My fish was undercooked and I had to send it back. It did return very nicely cooked and tasted ok, not fabulous. I'd finished my wine by the time my food came, and I gave up trying to find someone to reorder. My husband had a pizza, very think crispy base and ok. I think we just arrived at the wrong time on a Friday, given the amazing reviews this place generally gets. So will give it another go. I'd prefer to sit in the book barn though and not the bar area.
