Excellent service for a buffet-style dinner. My family and friends visiting from Saudi Arabia were impressed by the buffet layout and food choices!

I love that you can have buffet and hot pot/shabu shabu all in the same place. I wish that you had more than 1 kind of broth to choose from. There's a huge variety of seafood there. The raw oysters were good, as well as the blue crab. The sushi selection was minimal and was very ordinary. They have a good variety of dessert as well. If you're hungry and love seafood then it'll be well worth your money. If seafood is not your thing then this may not be the best buffet to choose.

Took my son here for his birthday during our trip to NYC. The buffet was fantastic. The sushi chefs were making rolls and putting them out continuously. Our waitress was really nice, and answered our questions. We tried the Shabu (hotpot) and that ended up being a huge success. The hot foods were also very good. The desserts were tasty, especially the little tiramisu squares.

Went here years ago. Thought it might be better but was a bit worse. Didn't have the advertised food for dinner in wekeends when it's most expensive. But they did have sushi and fish and stuff. But some oysters were scary once u touch them. Almost slimy. Yes Ste ma y times raw oysters but these are the less fresh thank God nobody got sick . Fish looked great but tested just ok. Some sushi good some sashimi also scary. Never Ate tuna that was brown before. Not appetising or tasty. Good ice cream though.

Terrible buffet. Sushi is bland and cheap. They don't offer any quality options for the food. When you pay $35 a person you expect some decent food, i'd rather go to a normal sushi place, buy 3-4 rolls be full and eat good food. They also didnt tell us we'd be rushed out the door when we made the reservation. What kind of place closes on Friday at 9 and wants you to settle your check when you've sat down 10 minutes ago.

The food was very good for being an ayce buffet place. But our korean waitress lady was terrible. Never refilled out water, just took the plates away. And never spoken to us even once. On top of total check, i added 11% tip. Then she comes up to me and tells me that tip is normally 15%, and asks if there was problem with her service. YES there was, i take these things very seriously. i absolutely despise lazy and terrible services. Lucky for her that i was with my girlfriend's family. I didn't want to go off on her in front of them and other guests. I told her to add it if she wants. Disgusting.

Came there for family lunch, they have shabushabu for the new menu. Sushi and hot dishes are as usual. Hope they are more creative with sushis. Want more mussels and clams for hot dishes. We tried out shabu shabu and we love it. We got it as soon as we arrived there. We reserved with opentable.

This is a very nice restaurant. Workers are very and passionate. The food is so diverse. But here is something that they may improve, they may have more dishes for one type of seafood, there was many types of fish but only one type of crab, it better to have more variety in dishes as it is called a seafood restaurant.

Overall the Food was ok, can't expect more than that, which was given for that price. However the biggest issue that I had was the waiter, who was given a generous tip although openly stated that is not enough and gave a concrete "price" for his services. Totally unprofessional.

I should have paid more attention to the recent reviews. The buffet of this past Labor Day was not acceptable. We have been going to this place for about a decade and we decided this will be our last time, unless reviews show a definitive improvement. This is the second time we noticed the down spiral in quality of the fishes used in the sushi-sashimi, the hot and cold selections, the refills of empty selection plates, the service (about one year ago Management changed the "tips policy" and all the waitresses & waiters left one by one and they used to be such great team, we missed them), etc. Too bad.

I was surprised there was quite a limited amount of food that was out. Normally I attend for dinner but today was lunch. The advertisement for the hours indicates lunch is 11:45am until 3pm. I was under the impression that lunch would be done exactly at 3pm and it would allow time to turnover for dinner however the kitchen was closed at 2:30pm and I needed to leave by 3pm. The hours of operation should be indicated differently.

Average all you can eat but very stingy on the "good" stuff. Oysters were rarely available as was the crab. They would wait a rather long time before replenishing. Way more rice than actual sushi. I've had much better.

IchiUmi in Korean town suddenly cancelled out the 9% service charge with no tip. But they didn't put up a sign upfront or telling customers. So when I gave a small tip to the waitress, she had to come back to tell us that they changed back to tipping restaurant. How awkward! Secondly, the front desk people are not polite. My friend arrived 5 mins before me and asked them if he could be seated in first. They did let him in; however, when I arrived 5 mins later, the guy at the front was telling me that my friend must wait outside till I arrive and we cannot do that to let one in first. The way he said it was quite impolite. If they don't want to, then they could simply let my friend wait upfront.

A large group of people arrived at the same time as I arrived. I was still given a very nice table when my 3 guests arrived due to my open table reservation. We arrived at 1PM and they continued to replenish the buffet food until 2PM. Each of my friends had things they liked. Small portions of many delicious deserts were fun after lots of other food. My friends had a really nice time too!

Have eaten at this restaurant for several decades. IMHO the restaurant has subtly but perceptibly "dumbed down" the selection, although the quality remains pristine. (With sushi, you have no choice!) Some items I had previously enjoyed were not present on the buffet table (example, the delicious shitake salad) and there seemed to be more "white space" between the serving dishes. That said, it is a one-of-a-kind dining experience in New York, and we'll be back.

We went there for a Saturday lunch. The oyster section is almost empty. They're trying to cut down the cost but the lunch price remains the same. This place used to be my favorite, but now it has changed. I won't go back again. It doesn't worth the price any more.

I was looking for an exotic food place to meet my niece from Australia and her four friends who are spending one week vacation in New York. They really appreciated the quality of foods especially the salads with fresh Green leafy vegetables. Tired of eating junk foods almost everywhere it was a success inviting them in your restaurant. We felt welcomed and the atmosphere was so accommodating. It's money and quality eating in IchiUmi.
