This restaurant is closed. Open Table is still accepting reservations, and mine was for my wedding anniversary. We were disappointed as the owner was super nice, but we quickly found an alternative.

The service and the menu are a lot fancier than the interior. Feels like a sports bar, but yuppies will be well served and cocktailed. Portions are tasty but small. Had the Carbonara, a salad and a pizza. I cannot say they were special - they were ok. Cocktails pricey, served cold but no ice. Servers are earnest and eager to please. Ok pick if you are headed to Rosa's. Parking is tough in this neighborhood.

Although I rated the food as a bit pricey, I have to say, We will return. It was very good and everyone was very good to us. We are already planning on going back w friends. Not all menu items are over priced so don’t let my comments deter you. Just a realistic review.

I'm not sure why this place isn't busier than it is. The service was great, the ambiance is warm and cozy, and the food is delicious. We had the chicken wings with the sauce, the squash pizza, and the misto salad. I would probably pass on the salad next time, but the wings and pizza were delicious! I would definitely recommend this place and will be back.

I'm always a little nervous about places that are easy to get reservations with day of, that said was pleasantly surprised with Ugo's. There were plenty of open tables at this place, BUT don't let that deter you from checking it out! Felt the pasta dishes were overpriced, so we ordered pizza and appetizers to share. Pizzas are about the size of the menu with 6 slices. Table favorites were the following: Appetizer (Foccacia bread- butter was on the salty side, I recommend eating plain unless you like salt), Pizza (Goat Cheese, Squash and Brussels sprout with balsamic drizzle along -- great combo) and Dessert (all we ordered were delicious - Banana Cream Pie (strong banana flavor with slices of actual banana) and doughnuts (warm with what tasted like a apple pie reduction sauce on the side). Wouldn't order again: "Fried" Bread - lack of flavor, but good texture, Calamari (weren't chewy but would try other options before ordering again). Cocktails, easily table favorite was the "REDRUM Punch" reminded me of glogg. If you like floral flavors recommend "Petal Pusher", it puckered the mouth quite a bit so if you don't like sour don't order this one. Overall, would return for the Squash pizza and desserts. Prices were a little high on certain menu items, so check out the menu before heading over. It's a decent place to go when you can't get into more trendy spots in the area.

This was overall the weirdest experience I've ever had. We did not have to wait a single moment for anything, the wait staff was watching us like hawks the whole time. It was a little creepy but my friends and I enjoyed how weird and hilarious the experience was for us. We probably won't go back because of the really strange ambiance and the fact that we thought we were about to be inducted into a cult, but the food was fine.

We love going to Ugo's as a family (one three-old child). The fresh, homemade pastas are always the standout dishes. Desserts are also particularly good. Cocktails are very creative; beer list is a must-have of local and regional favorites; and their wines never disappoint and are always priced within reason.

Not a huge menu but everything we had was really tasty - the focaccio, pork rillettes, sausage pizza, and maitake pizza (outstanding!). And kick yourself now if you don't get the donuts for dessert. Next time we'll go with more than 2 people so we can sample additional dishes. I tried 2 whiskey cocktails and both were super; the Middleton edged out the Smoke and Oak for me. There are 2 other notable, highly regarded restaurants - next door and across the street - but Ugo's is #1 with me.

As always Ugo's fare was delicious. The pasta here is really wonderful. I ordered the tagliatelle. This season it is paired with shrimp in a light but flavorful garlic sauce. The shrimp were huge and plentiful - maybe 6-8 of them? I enjoyed every last bite. We also started with their perfectly cooked calamari - crispy and tasty with one of the best slightly spicy dipping sauces I've had with it. We paired dinner with a great starter cocktail and a solid bottle of Spanish wine. Lastly, we ended sharing the banana cream pie with real banana chunks and no sparing the whip cream! Service was perfect blend of availability but not hovering. My glass was always full as if by magic.

Extremely friendly and helpful waitstaff, coupled with a variety of delicious small plates and outstanding thin crust pizza, distinguished this place for us. Of the small plates, the fried eggplant (covered in a delectable breadcrumb crust and benefiting from an innovative presentation) is highly recommended. Another small plate standout was the pasta carbonara, rich but not uncomfortably so and blessed with both noodles and sauce made in-house. Last but not least is the pizza: bright, flavorful sauce and reserved portions of mozzarella that allowed that sauce to stand out, all atop a thin, crispy crust that still had a satisfying chew. The Margherita was light and tasty, and the sausage benefited from unexpectedly complex flavors and a smoky undertone that also delivered a bit of heat. We picked this place primarily for its location because a friend lived nearby; we left, however, extremely impressed by a neighborhood gem that handily exceeded our expectations. We will be back!

Ugo's was fantastic! We started with cocktails; neither my friend nor I was expecting them to have such good cocktails, but their mixologist is fantastic! The food was excellent, portions were generous, and the service was stellar. It was sad that this place was not as busy as the surrounding restaurants, but it's relatively new and I have a feeling that if everyone's experience is as good as ours was, they will be packed in no time. I would definitely recommend Ugo's!

We went to Ugo's for dinner, expecting a regular Italian restaurant. Wow were we surprised! It is an Italian small portions restaurant and so we ordered several different things to split. We started with the chicken liver mousse which was amazing! It was served with warm bread, sweet pickles, and a wine jelly that made the entire dish unforgettably luscious. The next dish was a burrata salad, also unbelievably complex flavors with the sweetest tomatoes and softest burrata one could imagine. We each ordered a different "main course" to split. My hubby had tagliatelle and I ordered the bacon pizza. Both were exquisite. Our only complaint is that there was not enough of the delicious tagliatelle. The wine selections are perfect as are the cocktails and the servers are friendly and attentive. We have finally found a new favorite restaurant!

Dinner on Saturday night was delicious. Of all the places we visited while on vacation, this was the dinner that stayed with us. Do yourself a favor and order the house made focaccia and whatever bruschetta it's on the menu. We had a simple tomato and basil one and I can't sing enough praises about it. Something so simple and yet such an amazing flavor. We also ordered the prosciutto which was flavorful while nicely soft, especially with the accompanying mustard. For entrée we had two pizzas, which were very good, even though napolitan pizza is not my thing. The only part lacking were the cocktails: a blueberry one I can't even remember the name of, and a couple of margaritas. They weren't undrinkable, but they were just forgettable. I have no idea if the problem lies in the recipe or that day's bartender. A final note. Even though our server misunderstood our order, and brought us margarita drinks instead of the pizza of the same name, the service was excellent. Everything came out quickly and she was incredibly nice. That's why we didn't return the margaritas; the server was so nice that I didn't want to complain and instead we just paid for them. I don't regret it. In sum, when I go back to Chicago I will definitely stop again at Ugo's and next time I want to try the pasta!

This restaurant has the best customer service. Of course there was only a few people in the restaurant when arrived on a Sunday evening. The plates were small which is great to share with your group. I LOVED the cheese platter - very good choice of cheeses. The bruschetta was fabulous - very fresh tasting. The zucchini sticks were so crispy and flavorful. There was a great selection for wine and specialty drinks. The atmosphere was friendly, cozy but upbeat. I will definitely be back and spread the word about Ugo's.

Great food, great cocktails, overbearing service. He was friendly and trying to be fun and personable which was great at first, but wore very thin as we were checked on every 5 minutes weather it was by him, the bus boy, the hostess or the chef. I couldn't tell if they were fussing over us so much because we were one of two tables or if they wanted us to hurry up and go. Our plan was to order a few snacks at a time as we went along. We told our server we weren't quite ready. So, he stepped away for a moment, presumably for a small break when the hostess ran up and asked us what we wanted. Feeling like we should hurry, we ordered a few things and then she scooped up our menus and ran off. Needless to say, we didn't order anything else. We ate our snacks and left. Side note...I love your liver mousse and kale ceasar. They are both craveable items.

The food here was really good. Enjoyed about 3 different Pizzas, the burrata and a great salad off of their nicely sized menu. Couple of thoughts: Would benefit from another vegetarian option or two, and the pizzas were just a bit small for the price point in my opinion. A nicer spot for pizza with great service and location.

The food was very good, but the service was a mess all-around. The staff clearly isn't trained well--there was a lot of miscommunication among them. Our table didn't get 2 minutes without our server checking in on us. It was very frustrating. Honestly, I'd rather have been forgotten about than being asked how every single bite of my meal was.
