Mediterranean magic in the GPO. Located in the western end of Sydney’s historic GPO is Subterranean Bar & Grill - a Mediterranean/Greek-style restaurant serving up all your meaty mezze favourites. The restaurant is submerged on the lower ground floor, and the historic sandstone walls of the GPO, simple furnishings provide and tiled floor make for a warm Greek-tavern-like vibe. The BBQ grill takes centre stage here and the open flames lend a fabulous smoky flavour to the food. You can’t go wrong with the chargrilled lamb loin or with one of the souvlaki plates. They’ve also got great sharing plates, burgers, ribs and pasta dishes - there’s something for everyone. The prices are great, and much cheaper than you’ll find in any other CBD diner. For traditional meal in a great location try the Subterranean Bar & Grill - OPA! Best Dish: souvlaki plate: lamb, pita bread, salad & tzatziki

Starters poorly prepared. Horrible. Didn’t order mains. Couldn’t bear it. Basically no idea in the kitchen.

Went twice during a recent business trip to Sydney - both time the food was great and the service excelent. Friendly staff.
