Salare is a chef-driven neighborhood restaurant, nestled in the heart of Ravenna in North Seattle. We capture America’s diverse culture of food with influences from America’s South, Africa, Europe and the Caribbean Islands. The term “salare” was introduced to Chef Jordan while spending time in Italy studying the art of salumi making. Chef Jordan’s philosophy is rooted in his passion for cooking traditions, primal techniques, and ancient methods for preserving foods; the name Salare embraces this philosophy.

Overall experience was good. Creative dìshes. Since it was a birthday dinner which I had indicated in the reservation it would jave been nice for our server to have compt. one dessert. It would have sweetened the deal.

My steak came to the table cold and was tasteless. I sent it back and they brought me the duck which was excellent. Get the duck!

Delicious food in reasonable portion sizes. Best shared among 2 or 3 people so you can try more things on the menu. With 6 people you can definitely try everything on the menu.

Here's the problem. I've eaten at Solare about a dozen times, always for dinner. My experience has always been good, but this was something of a disaster. I had a friend from out of town, so I wanted to treat her to a special brunch.

First, everything we initially wanted to order on the menu, including the appetizer scone, was sold out — at noon! So, they sold out of several items within two hours of opening, which seems to me weirdly unprofessional — not to be able to determine with greater precision how many of each option the restaurant should have available. We ordered the eggs benedict and a side of French fries. In addition to being fairly tasteless (a serious problem) the fries were not hot, so we asked for new ones, which were also not hot, at which point we gave up. (We were not charged for them, thankfully) We also ordered a side of pancakes that were also cold, but we didn't complain about this and just ate two out of three because we were tired of complaining. I asked for ground pepper for my meal, and noticed the waiter bringing things out to other tables while I sat there for five minutes watching my eggs cool off. By the time he arrived with the pepper, my eggs were cold and unappetizing.

The bill was over $90 — for lukewarm food no one really liked, and all of which proved a frustrating hassle to even get. It was like a perfect storm of badness. And, of course, our waiter was automatically tipped 20%. (He seemed like a nice guy but his patience was obviously flagging at the 4th or 5th complaint and his demeanor as getting, shall we say, perfunctorily polite.)

I may come in for dinner again but never ever for brunch. Ay yi yi.

Delicious, been meaning to go since they opened when we were here 3 years ago. We finally made it. I assumed the food would be good, but I was blown away it is really delicious. A little bit of waiting in between courses, but it’s worth it. Can’t wait to go back.

Very nice restaurant! We really enjoyed the biscuit, so delicious. Food was terrific. One thing, I ordered a special drink off the menu and the alcohol was not correct. It was not enjoyable.

Overall, thoughtful dishes, great service and a fun evening.

My wife and I sat at the “chef’s counter” and got to watch the chefs prepare every meal during the dinner rush. It was an incredibly unique experience and one that we thoroughly enjoyed! Our food was fantastic, the service was great, and the ambience was energetic. All in all, we both agreed it was the best restaurant experience we’d ever had!

This is just an excellent restaurant. Always a surprise when your plate arrives to see what they have paired. Everything is fun but definitely some standouts. The short ribs..most tender we have ever had! Mussels and tartare were so good! Castelafranca salad the best! And the sweets unsurpassed with fabulous presentations. Just a joy and the staff are probably the best anywhere. So good at explaining all things menu/cocktails etc.

We've been meaning to go for ages, had to cancel once due to illness, but our first time did not disappoint! The food was exceptional with my duck entree and pavlova dessert just two of many highlights. The excellent Chateau de Breze cab franc was excellent and great value too!

I have very high expectations to be there and I didn’t get disappointed, everything was excellent food, ambiance and service. I strongly recommend this place for any occasion and to anyone cause everything is prepared with love and dedication in every detail.

Lived up to the hype in every way. From my first step into the restaurant to my last step out, service was genuine, friendly, and attentive without being obtrusive. I sat at the chefs counter which was really interesting to watch the action from - you see everything since the counter is next to the open kitchen. Watching the teamwork, prep, cooking, and plating kept me entertained as I was dining alone. The cheddar and chive biscuit was to die for - I would have gotten 2 of them, but I knew I wanted dessert at the end. The crab spaghetti was delicious with a bit of a kick. The portion was perfect - I felt full but not gross. The s’more dessert was a more traditional option, but I was craving chocolate and was not disappointed at all.

I give it a 2 stars, fair, because nothing special about it. We chose to try Salare because it was on James Beard nomination but came to find out it was nothing special. Food was just okay.

Fantastic creative food. Never disappoints. Never boring. Good use of ingredients that aren’t the usual dull Seattle offerings.

My only complaint is that the place is so noisy. Very difficult to hear anyone talk.

I went for brunch and it was ok. I enjoyed it but there was zero wow factor for me. I guess I had built it up a lot. I’d go back and try something else but I was surprised by the smaller portion size (which was plenty of food). Service was great. Food was yummy but just nothing at all that stood out for me unfortunately. Would like to try dinner

Although I think this is a superior restaurant, it was not a good fit for me or my companion. For me, a pescatarian looking for options without dairy and gluten, I had to compromise my dietary preferences and ended up with indigestion. My companion had an allergic reaction to an unsuspected ingredient -- squid ink -- which apparently affects people with shellfish allergies. The staff were very helpful in addressing her problem. One of them told us the cook staff are warned about the ingredient causing potential problems. I think the restaurant was negligent in not making it clear the dish we ordered might cause problems for those with shellfish allergies. Luckily in both our cases, the adverse food reaction was not life-threatening.

We had our 5th anniversary dinner there and the food was outstanding. Emily our waitress was super fun and knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely be back. Thank you Salare

Very creative. Very idiosyncratic. Careful, some dishes are very spicy, not expected since its claimed inspiration is Italian. Caveat Emptor.

Interesting flavors but lacking in execution. Risotto was a huge disappointment, over cooked and under seasoned; the cauliflower lacked crunch, it was almost mushy. The sauces were all on point though, loved the smoky flavor with the albacore. House charcuterie and bread was solid. Would try again, as price was very reasonable.

A beautiful space which holds onto a warehouse feel confirms you are in Seattle. The staff was friendly, helpful and conversational, offer helpful tips and suggestions. The food is all you'll read about and more.

Salare never disappoints, it's one of my favorite places to eat in Seattle. Creative and ever changing menu, the food is like art on plates and it's beyond delicious.
