Excellent service and background music. Food was very good, but dishes with chili oil could be a tad greasy.
We love the food here. The dumplings are great. The cumin beef superb. Mustard rockfish is sour and spicy. It's hard to go wrong if you like Sichuan food.
We tried to order more dishes from the start and the waiter told us to order less. Our order took over 45min to reach our table, and we were starving. The waiter recommended 9 dishes, we ended up ordering 14 or15 dishes after everything was said and done, and we only were able to order 2 rounds of drinks. Our group could have easily ordered 2 more rounds of drinks. Our waiter avoided us the remainder of the night to order more drinks...not sure the issue since he was going to make 20 on the total bill automatically. The food was amazing. The service was not the best, we were trying to give your restaurant more money but for some reason the service prevented us from doing that.
We love spicy food and Szechwan food in particular. This restaurant simply delighted us. We tried stuff from the Seattle Restaurant Week menu. The food was a good mix of spice and flavor. A sort of gourmet Szechwan food. The chef is creative and brings out the flavor while still maintaining the authenticity of the regional food. The service was outstanding. Kyle (our server) was attentive. Once we told him that we were trying to catch a show downtown, he went out of his way to ensure that everything was packed (to go boxes) and bill settled in time. We had a very pleasant experience and will be back to try so many of the dishes that made out mouths water.
Fabulous food and service, loved every minute and every bite!
I'm been a patron of Lionhead since it opened as I live very close by. Unfortunately, both the food quality and service have suffered tremendously as time has passed. This most recent experience has very poor because of an untrained server and the food was bland and not spicy/numbing at all.
It was very disappointing.
Very good Food....and Staff .....Sam is a pleasure !
Sam our server and the entire serving staff was very knowledgeable, kind and delivered a fantastic dining experience . I love this place!
We noted a nut allergy and a special occasion (birthday) in our online reservation, but our servers didn't seem to be aware of either. Drinks service was extremely slow. The server completely forgot one of our food orders. I'm generally a fan of the mandatory 20% service tip except for times like this.
Maybe its an opinion thing, but I felt more on the sodium than the heat. I expected more of the ma la taste. It was decent, but i had expected more. However, the service was pleasant.
We got at least a couple times a month - still the best Szechuan food in the city bar none. Eggplant fries are transcendent and I hate eggplant.
We had duck, pork, and chicken. All wonderful
We always love this place! Obsessed with their dumplings! Specials are always amazing and the vegetarian options are my favorite and I’m not even a vegetarian! Hope you like it a bit spicy!
Food here is unbeatable. Every dish seems really well prepared and flavors are strong but really well balanced and really delightful. Food is not just tasty, but interesting/stimulating.
Great place. Good food.
Portions are generous - be careful not to over order unless you want to take some home.
Super delicious and exquisitely prepared Sichuan food!
Service was not fast and our food was colder than I would have appreciated. The lamb dumplings were rather tough but I feel as though maybe the restaurant was having an off night and its worth trying again.
Very nice selection of Sichuan dishes. The vegetables were my favorites. The bao was not very good. Interesting selection of cocktails
Overall taste was very good, just a tad salty for my taste and the food was slow to come
Great food, great neighborhood spot. Loved the numbing spice!
Great food, great service and great value. One of our favorite restaurants for casual date night.
Nice authentic, spicy and numbing food.
Great food. Would have liked some more knowledgeable advice from the server regarding ordering. Very spicy and delicious
Exceptional food. Server was friendly and helpful. Only disappointment was not getting the rice until 2nd entree arrived. We will be back.
Food and service were both excellent.
Excellent Sichuan inspired food, both classic like mapo doufu and new. Really bold flavors using Sichuan peppercorns and chilies. Not for the faint of palate. Excellent cocktails also. 5 spice Old Fashioned is yummy.
Everyone always says its hard to find good Chinese food in Seattle, well they're right in a way. The Szechwan cuisine at Lionhead isn't good, it's fantastic! Between two people we ordered 3 plates (all are family style, with sharing encouraged) and just barely managed to finish it because we didn't want to leave anything on the plate. The waitstaff, especially our waiter Sam, was kind and attentive. The drinks were unique, featuring baiju (a Chinese spirit) and other innovative concoctions. In short, it was a slam dunk, there wasn't a single element to our dinner that I would dream of changing. Please go if you get a chance, it wont even break the bank, most dishes range around $15, a small price to pay for excellence.
Lionhead is one of our families favorite restaurants! Not your typical Chinese restaurant they have interesting dishes inspired by traditional Sichuan cooking. Our favorites are the crispy duck, doufu-ru greens, eggplant fries and fried rice. While you can find similar dishes (by name) at other restaurants rest assured you’ll never find preparations like this. Love it!
We love this restaurant. The food is fantastic, inventive and Sichuan spicy. Not evilly so but expect tongue and tastebud numbing. The sour mustard rockfish is soooooo good. The lamb dumplings are magnificent and the cumin potatoes make my toes curl with tasty pleasure. Great restaurant.
food gets better and better. from simple dumplings to 5 pice sichuan duck. spicy and wonderful
The restaurant is a little on the funky side, but the service was good and the food was very good. Servings are quite generous so unless you’re starving, order a few dishes and see if you want more. I would definitely make reservations as it’s a small restaurant and they are quite popular.
Will not be back
We went to celebrate Mother’s Day. Fun to have dishes to share round a lazy Susan! The food was too spicy for me, and it would be nice to be able to modify this some
I also felt the prices were high though having a world-renown chef means more $$$
The chief tried too hard on all the dishes. I felt like they all had similar flavors. Too complex!
Exciting flavors in magnificent authentic Szechuan food!
A hidden gem on Capitol Hill. About everything we order was very delicious and we ordered a lot of plates. Enjoy your dinner with one of their craft cocktails. Highly recommend this place!
Delicious family style Chinese
Great Sichuan food. Lots of peppercorn in most dishes, well prepared and with an impressive baijiu list. The service staff was great, and helped to recommend excellent baijiu and dishes that left me waiting to go back again.
Lionhead was amazing as always. This is a special place in Seattle. The unique flavors and mouth numbing feel (literally) are just incredible. The cocktail list is always intriguing and does not disappoint in their concoctions. Luckily I don't live in Capitol Hill as I would frequent here too much.
Third time. A complete disappointment. the drinks were terrible, and the four dishes we ordered were way below standard.
