Fabulous service and high quality food. Exceptional experience
Food, as always, was delicious - hummus, dates, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, ground pork on cinnamon stick. Panna cotta type dessert was outstanding. Only flaw: coffee ground floaters in my press pot coffee. Outstanding service, again as always. We had been semi-regulars before it became so difficult to get a reservation. Best advice is to do one of three things: show up before it opens and wait for a bar seat, call exactly 60 days before desired date, or keep an eye out for last minute cancellations (especially on bad weather days).
I had been looking forward to dining at Zahav since lucking into reservations several months before. I guess because I had read the reviews, and knew reservations were hard to come by, I was anticipating a fabulous evening in every way. The food was delicious: a wonderful blend of textures, flavors, and colors - a real feast. But the atmosphere… When I entered the restaurant I thought I had mistakenly walked into some local bar: people were packed in, two sides of the room are lined with bar stools, some tune from ELO was blaring from the speakers...no, not what I was expecting from such a highly rated restaurant. I didn’t even mind being 12 inches away from the other diners on either side of me, but conversation with my date was pretty much impossible because of the loud music. I could almost swear they even increased the volume on some songs while we were seated there. So I’m glad I was able to go there, but I won’t be going back again.
The hummus is to die for. Especially the Turkish hummus, which is served warm. The veal was also very good.
One of the most outstanding restaurants I have dined in over last 30+ years. Service was impeccable with attention to detail/excellent eye contact/professional & engaging (shout out to Wolfe and Mirabell), every bite of food prepared thoughtfully (size, color, texture, temperature, taste complimenting @ other), choices brought smiles to 3 folks w/varied preferences, definitely worth the effort to navigate securing reservation (opens 60 days before selected date). Look forward to returning to Philadelphia and Zahav!
It was fantastic! Every bite delicious! Can’t wait to go back
Food was delicious and excellent service. It is definitely worth the hype!
We went for a birthday and was greeted with Happy Birthday greeting on the menu which was a fun welcome. Our server, Julie, was lovely, attentive and explained everything very well. We ordered the mesibah tasting menu which offered a great selection and the lamb eaters at the table were thrilled with the deleicous dish, the laffa was fluffy and hot and everything was fresh and tasty - I loved that there was a drink with sahleb in it and malabi for dessert
The one issue I had was that there were too many hands, too quickly over and around the table and the “meal will be served at your pace” (because mesibah is a party/feast) proved less than true. I loved having dishes cleared quickly but then clean plates appeared within seconds (literally) - we would have like to wait for our mains but by the time I got our servers attention, it was too late. Dessert arrived so fast that coffee was almost its own course
All in all a delicious, Michael Solomonov creative and delicious meal!
Amazing. Fantastic good and service
Zahav is a spectacular Philadelphia dining experience
Amazing place. Provided gluten free versions of their dishes that were as good as the original. Went for birthday and the staff really went out of their way to personalize the experience.
Absolutely amazing dining experience. Impressed with the attention to detail and their attentiveness to a food allergy.
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve dined here. As always they never disappoint and Ben was a great server.
Get the tasting menu. It was incredibly beautiful and so filling with 4 people eating. The hummus cannot be matched, the duck hearts and lamb tartar were mind-blowingly flavorful and tender. And the desserts. Holy moly, the desserts. Eat here as often as you can and ask for Lindsey. She was kind and helpful and lovely. One of the absolute best dining experiences ever.
The service and food are impeccable, quality can’t be beat!
After finding the table for 2 available for the same night, we had a wonderful spontaneous date. Thank you for the great experience.
Food and wine were delicious and very satisfying. If you want to order dishes like the lamb I would suggest making a reservation for earlier in the night. We sat at 9:15 and it had sold out by then :( Apparently it's a 4-day process to prepare the lamb so there is a finite amount served each night.
Absolutely phenomenal!! I can't stress enough how important it is to have a reservation unless you want to stand in the cold and or rain for 30-45 minutes prior to there opening. I am not going to lie, it is very hard to get a reservation unless you are persistent. I had been trying for a month to get a reservation (checking every single day) for 3 people on a Tuesday evening at 5:30 and finally on the day of, I scored! I was so happy and it was well worth the effort! Prior to my score, I had been in touch with Liz Mak, the manager and she added me to the waitlist and anytime I emailed her, I received a prompt response. On the day of, I needed to add 2 more people to my reservation and Liz accommodated us.
Lindsey was our waitress and she was patient, thoroughly explained the dishes to us, and was just overall wonderful. For a large party, I highly recommend that you go with the tasting menu as it allows you to pretty much try the entire menu. From the pickled starters to the surprise desserts in the end, we were wowed with every single bite.
We had 2 pitchers of the Lemonanna and it was very refreshing and a must!
The tehina and Turkish hummus were bomb and the laffa bread...there are not enough words to describe how amazing it was!
To say we were wowed by Zahav would be an understatement and I cannot wait to go back.
Delicious food and beautiful ambience! Superb service!!!
Always awesome. I could eat their hummus every day. Amazing!!!
We got the Tasting Menu and it was delicious. Great service, a wonderful evening, and we'll certainly go back.
By far and away my favorite restaurant. The food is exquisite and reasonably priced. Impossible to get a reservation without 2 months notice, but worth the wait.
Absolutely amazing. Far beyond expectations!
Going to Zahav is always a wonderful experience, and parts of the menu/certain cocktails changing throughout the seasons makes every visit equally as exciting as going there the first time.
DELICIOUS!!! Go for the tasting menu! We had a group of 4, so got to taste almost everything on the menu!
We used to dine here often when we lived in philly 10 years ago. It was so great to be back and did not disappoint after all these years! The food is wonderful and the service is fantastic too. I could live on their hummus and the fried cauliflower. Highly recommend!
I do not know what was better, the service, the food or the playlist of music.
Exceptional service, food, drinks, music, experience overall.
An assortment of tastes and all delicious!
Easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had. We did the tasting & it felt like the food just kept coming! Definitely the way to go. Each dish was so flavorful. Our server was kind and attentive. We were celebrating my birthday & they really went above and beyond to make it special.
Amazing food and great ambiance. Well worth the wait!
Our group had a great time and all of the food was fabulous. The waiter was very helpful, explaining the dishes and how the tasting menu worked. I would love to have heard Israeli music instead of Michael Jackson. You could leave that type of music to your basic restaurants. Also, there HAS to be a better way to make reservations. 60 days in advance, calling at midnight? And since there aren't many tables for 6, calling at midnight was VERY frustrating! I'm happy to report that our visit was worth the effort.
Loved it! Every bite more delicious than the one before it.
As always excellent food that is continually worth a 2 month wait.
Awesome experience! Amazing food. The lamb was just sublime!
Food and service were both excellent.
It was great. Highly recommended. I will definitely be back.
Salads and hummus were great! Huge fan of the dessert and steak too.
The food is very good but not quite worth the hype in my opinion. Also, a bit disappointed there was no lamb main course on the menu considering this is middle eastern / Israeli.
It's good for a one time visit on a special occasion, but for the price I can think of a few better alternatives.
Wonderful meal. We ordered the tasting menu and were delighted with the variety of flavors, textures and look. My only suggestion is that when bringing out 8 small plates of unfamiliar food, perhaps a little better explanation of what each is.
We were not hurried and were able to really enjoy our meal over a period of 2 hours.
We want to go back, just need to wait another 2 months for a reservation.
