When you come to Opheem, you get an insight into the inner workings of my mind. We’re striving to push the boundaries with Indian flavours, but with cooking techniques from all over the world, some traditional, and some very modern. At Opheem, I’ll be using the same paints as I’ve always done, to create a very different picture, on a very, very different canvas. Why? Because to evolve and adapt is what makes us human, and cooking is what sets us apart from the animals.

                              We last visited Opheem in Dec 2023 and couldn’t wait to come back. As ever it was amazing! The atmosphere and service is just right. Some would expect a 2 star restaurant to be a bit stuffy but this isn’t, staff are professional but down to earth. And the food - just perfect! I actually wish I’d have filmed my friend when she tried Aloo Tuk for the first time and experienced how outstanding it is. The bread was different to last time, I didn’t think it could get any better but it did! A fab visit, can’t wait to go again!

                              The 10-course tasting menu is an experience that should not be missed. Save up for your special occasion as it is worth every penny, but book for early evening as you could be there for 4 hours. From the numerous amuse bouches to the incredible food, each course was a culinary masterpiece. Also, for this type of tasting menu, the portions for most of the courses were larger than one would have expected. They dealt with our (religious) dietary requirements with no issue as surprisingly they only had to change one course (celeriac instead of scallop). Their service was attentive but not obtrusive and the staff were very approachable and the place is not pretentious nor pompous. Aktar Islam was there in person and working, not just overseeing the dishes. Each course is explained by one of the chefs and with an open kitchen you can see them at work. I defy anyone to finish the amazing 'cakes' and homemade chocolates at the end of the meal and we had to take most of them home in a 'doggie bag'. Although Birmingham has recently lost several of its Michelin starred restaurants, what sets Opheem apart from them all is the flavour combinations - a tasting menu with a twist because it is Indian one.

                              The most incredible evening. Only thing I would comment on is the elevator music in the brilliant lounge. Let’s go cool!

                              This is not just an Indian restaurant; "This is an Opheem expereince", & it is difficult to explain to anyone who hasn't been how good it is!!! Everyone from the owner himself to the youngest chef in a very large team are proud of the food they cook & serve & we have decided to return again when our very full diary allows. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!

                              We visited as a treat for my husbands birthday and opted for the lunchtime A La Carte menu. The food was excellent and cooked in front of us by Aktar and his team. The staff team were professional and friendly and explained the courses throughout. Overall, we thought this was a very enjoyable afternoon with high quality food and service. I would definitely recommend a visit.

                              An outstanding experience. Impeccable service and wonderful attention to detail to ensure each stage of the lunch that I had was memorable. The food was exquisite . I hope to return again and experience the full tasting menu.
