Discover a true Chicago gem at The Great Escape. This casual favorite features some of the city's finest steaks, seafood, chops and more in a setting that captures the Windy City's unique history. The Great Escape hails back to 1889; the Bar and Banquet room are part of the original structure. The bar itself was hand-carved by the venerated Chicago Bar Company. No stranger to colorful characters, The Great Escape was once frequented by one of Chicago's most notorious icons, bootlegger and gangster Al Capone. Today, the restaurant is a family favorite, featuring hearty fare, with an onsite banquet hall and catering. The facility is uniquely green, with a 108kW wind turbine on the property that generates over 100 percent of the restaurant's power supply, ensuring that future generations can continue to experience its warmth, hospitality and delicious creations.

The food was great. Service was friendly and very efficient. The Owner came to our table and introduced himself and we had a very nice conversation. The history of this place is awesome and very old historical info. Definitely a hidden gem!

Loved the Supper Club vibe. Loads of appetizers to choose from but the stuffed mushrooms were fab! Broasted chicken and ribs were outstanding - their signature dish! Staff was friendly and attentive. No noise issues, conversation friendly.

Met some old friends for dinner. Food and service were really good. I had the broasted chicken and my husband had the chicken pot pie both were great. Will definitely go there again.

Always a pleasure to come to the great escape because of their food selection. Their ribs are one of the best in Illinois, fall off the bone great barbecue sauce it’s a total winner. You must also try their French fried shrimp order broasted chicken both are a complement to the ribs and are delicious. Fred Ronden soup one of the best tray you’ll love it. Enjoy

Great Restaurant with Amazing Chicago History! The Food and Beverages were absolutely wonderful. We were celebrating my parent's birthdays - 83 and 88. Perfect for elderly, access and layout. Mom and I enjoyed a Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini to start. She and my Dad both had the broasted chicken, a house specialty, and it didn't disappoint. I had the chicken pot pie, absolutely delicious, however huge, totally shareable. My husband had the filet medallions, done perfectly and so very tender.
