Le Bouchon - Chicago
The best traditional French food - delish escargot, great wine, great after dinner drinks, steak & frites is always a must, but other great entree options too. Have gone multiple times and will continue to come back!
Anne is wonderful. Amazing service and recommendations. Superb chicken as always. Olive oil lemon curd cake is spectacular
Le Bouchon is a dependable friend. We go there for our birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. We take out of town friends there. The food is as close as it gets to that little restaurant you might stumble on in a small French town. Rustic French country food at its best. It is small, crowded, noisy and bustling. The service is great.
We went with a friend from out of town because Le Bouchon has always been a favorite.
I am not sure we will be back because the noise level was beyond what we could tolerate.
We could not interact at all and that was very disappointing. It is a great place, the food is always yummy
but if you are with friends and you can't talk, well, sort of loses its attraction. Sorry to be so blunt.
Absolutely a fantastic experience, had friends in from Spain and they were blown away. The server was so good with my little 2 year old niece as well. Fantastic charcuterie and entree's. Had a wonderful wine and look forward to going again.
Always love Le Bouchon! Food is consistently good and Service is always great!
One of my very favorite restaurant in Chicago. I'm so glad it does not have Michelin Stars as it's hard enough to a reservation. I selfishly want to keep it a little secret hidden gem.
Love this restaurant! Service is always timely, and the food is delightful.
Found by accident. Nice bottle of wine for half price because it was Monday. Mussels were to die for. Trout in puff pastry just the right level of crispy flakiness on the outside and doneness on the inside. Mushrooms were wonderful. They'll do take out too!
Excelente comida francesa y una cava extraordinaria. ..el dueño gran sommelier....
Love the truly authentic French food, the service, the ambiance... but it was SO LOUD we could BARELY HEAR across a small table.
Plan on dining on the off hours if hearing matters to you. It's worth the extra effort in scheduling.
Love this place - my favorite restaurant in Chicago!
The menu was plentiful to choose from.
The Seared Foie Gras was incredibly delightful. The Service was impeccable.
I always have a great time at Le Bouchon. Service is out of this world. Food is legitimately french. I recommend the Salade Lyonnaise.
Can't believe we waited so long to check this place out. The food and staff are excellent!
Excellent food and service. Too tight and too loud.
Our waitress, Heather, was wonderful and provided well-timed service! We enjoyed a fabulous dinner including oysters, steak frites, incredible cassoulet and delicious cheese platter with warm bread and local honeycomb. Enjoyed every course! We made an early reservation since the restaurant is small and can get loud, which worked out well. The one negative was the hostess. She was not welcoming at all, but I believe she is new. First impressions count--welcome customers with a warm greeting. Heather's friendliness and great service made up for that!
Our waiter was a bit rude frankly but efficient. Was snippy when we asked questions about the menu.
I had been meaning to try Le Bouchon for years but never quite made the time for it. I used to to live in the area and walked by it everyday. And so I decided to finally give it a go and took my girlfriend on an anniversary night. The place was very small, and I had to wait to be seated even though I made reservations. It was not the end of the world but, again, the place is so small and it was busy so I found myself having to hover over a couple that was eating at the bar because there were no open seats at the small bar—which made things a little uncomfortable.
The meal was great, however. The wait staff was rather busy but attentive. There was a Prix Fixe menu that night and definitely made it worth it. Overall, I would likely go back. I was satisfied.
The food was delicious. The liver parfait with nuts and jam was amazing and so was the lyonnaise salad. I tasted my husband's trout dish and it was so flavorful. The assorted ice cream was refreshing and I loved the lemon flavor one. Although it might be loud, people seemed friendly. Service was a little slow and rushed but that's understandable. After all, it's a very busy and small restaurant. Would like to try their duck dish next time.
The only authentic Bistro in Chicago ! Wonderful quiet spot to enjoy life.
Food was outstanding. It's VERY cramped, which was a big disappointment and a distraction. If they took away a few tables everyone would have more room and the experience would be greatly improved.
It was very busy and quite tight - so hard even to get to your table. Food was exceptional and service outstanding just a bit tight for my taste.
Our cherished Le Bouchon is better than ever! The warm, cozy atmosphere and superb cuisine persists even after 25 years. On a Friday night we were seated at the table with the view of the vestibule and could see the parade of diners coming into the restaurant. Every person parting those curtains had that smile of anticipation and delight as they entered. The small room and the tight quarters are inviting and warm: you're among friends here. And the kitchen is better than ever: superb foie gras, brandade, bouillabaisse, steak frites, tarte tatin. The service is nimble and professional, the wine list is chock full of tasty bottles. Toujours c'est cher dans nos coeurs!
Poor salty good. Rude staff.
We tried cancelling the reservation 2 hours prior to the reserved hour and the ap said unable to cancel so we confirmed with the restaurant that we would not be able to go.
Looking forward to a visit soon.
An old standby in Bucktown. Never disappoints. It’s a tiny place and you need to wedge your self into a small table but it’s part of the ambience.
Superb food but tables are crammed together and it is noisy. Also, it is not conducive to anyone with mobility issues. There is no way someone in a wheelchair could move around. I sincerely doubt anyone with a cane could manage.
Couldn’t believe our luck getting a table last minute. Best steak au poivre and onion soup in the city! Crem brûlée could use some work.
Thank you for a great experience.
Finally made it to Le Bouchon. The duck--a 25-year menu mainstay--was exceptional. The meal was well paced and our server was attentive but not intrusive. We went for the classic creme brulee with fruit to finish the meal and were not disappointed.
Service was impeccable. Our waitress went out of her way to
accommodate our diet restriction. Actually was able to provide the almond flour blueberry pancakes as a desert item for us.
The food was excellent. The service attentive. The only thing that was disappointing was the Creme Brulee. The Apple Tart was excellent. I highly recommend.
A wonderful experience. Food was terrific (is there a better steak au poivre in the city?). Service was outstanding. A lively and thoroughly enjoyable evening.
We all had pre fix dinner which was delicious. Unfortunately my dessert was not well executed. It was an apple Tart and the edges was burned.
Came here with a friend from out of town and we had a fantastic experience. Great wine was recommended and the food was delish. Bacon, gruyere and onion tarte was our favorite appetizer. We split the scallops and the chicken. Both were seasoned well and we left satisfied. No room for dessert this time! 😊
Le Bouchon never disappoints, definitely one of my favorite meals in Chicago. As good as I remembered it to be! What a great treat! Started with cheese puffs, then steak tartare on to ocean trout wrapped in puff pastry with asparagus, English peas, rose leblanc sauce. Absolutely the best!
Our new favorite! We've been coming to Chicago for years for special trips or just to get away and have ben looking for a new French bistro. This is it! Charming, small, cozy, amazingly delicious choices. The wait staff was ready with great suggestions on wine and food and was never away for too long. The mussels were tender and the broth could have been a soup of it's own and great for the crunchy bread to dip into it. Steak frites and scallops rounded out or dinner and both were absolutely perfect. Steak perfectly cooked and the scallops as well, which were like butter. The only downside was we were too full for dessert! Definitely going back anytime we're in town.
Very disappointed in the steak frites. The steak was of poor quality and unchewable. The restaurant is amazingly noisy, very hard to carry on conversations.
One of our favorite restaurants in chicago. Downtown spots may get the media coverage but lifelong foodies know better. Phenomenal Bisto menu and amazing wine list. Loud and bustling with a great bistro and New York City feel. Always a gem.
