food was so good! and portions were large. Next time I will do #3 on spicy level; #4 that I ordered was a little too spicy for me even though I do love spicy. I still enjoyed my spicy dinner but ate lots of rice and drank lots of water.

AVOID I had lunch at Basera Bistro. Things started off fine. I opted for the a la carte menu and enjoyed the samosas. The next two courses, dal and tandoori, were not good. The dal was soupy and not tasty. The tandoori was tough; overcooked, requiring chewing and chewing and chewing. What was that about? Was it the prior night's food reheated? During my lunch, the restaurant seated a family (a dad and 3 kids). Only the dad was ordering from Basera. He had purchased takeout pizzas from another restaurant in the neighborhood and brought the pizzas in for them to eat. The kids played videos on their phones, without ear buds, on LOUD, throughout their meals. This was disruptive and ruined anything I might have enjoyed about my dining experience. The next day, I stopped in between 3-4 in the afternoon to pick up in the afternoon to pick up my credit card, which the server had failed to return to me. It was a shocking sight: all of the banquettes were filled with sleeping workers. So, when you dine at Basera Bistro, and sit on one of those banquettes, picture staff members sleeping where you are sitting; truly an appetizing picture. As a footnote: the restaurant called Amex and told them my card was lost, causing it to be canceled, rather than using my contact info, available through Opentable. Thanks a lot, Basera Bistro. This is a major hassle. I stay in midtown frequently. I will never return to this restaurant. I would suggest, if you are considering this restaurant, you think again.

Food was good. Drinks were ok. Not blown away, but definitely yummy Indian food. Typical entree and Naan sizes (though a bit more expensive Naan for what you get compared to other places...). The cocktails could definitely use some updates. Very nice staff!

Looking for a late-night (post theatre) restaurant, I looked on Trip Advisor and this restaurant jumped out. The modest environment was clean and the service was very attentive. Our waitress what charming and very friendly which we enjoyed. The food was really quite good - we loved the garlic filled naan, especially. I like things really spicy and requested hot which came out more moderate but, that was OK given that I was happy with the balance of the experience. Portions were moderate and very good price point. We were all pleased with our meals and was a perfect place for a late night bite.

We had the mixed grill and the fish tank. The mixed grilled chicken and lamb were a little dry however still flavorful. The shrimp portion although few was perfect. The fish Tikka was delicious also. Watch out for the first level spicy because it is. Your mouth will be burning but you won't want to stop because it tastes so good. For drinks we had the mango lassi and the chai martini which were equally delicious. Great happy hour selection too. The service was on point as well so we can't wait to go back. Support this restaurant.

Reasonable curry for a reasonable price (for NY). We do like a good curry so tried this one based on Trip Advisor Reviews. Food was hot and ok. Unfortunately we have had better curries but good for a quick bite. The place feels like a converted pub and certainly a good place to socialise.

Vibe was a bit weird in this restaurant which was part dive bar, part Indian restaurant. Was surprised that a darts competition was taking place right next to our table. I wish the host would have seated us elsewhere if they knew this competition was going to take place. Food was good, but nothing special. I have no reason to recommend this restaurant, given all of the other options in this neighborhood.

If you want reasonably priced food that is good but not by any means great, this is the place to go. The advantage is that they are relatively close to the theater district - and dinner can be acquired conveniently. Ambiance is ok - not special. I would say the restaurant is utilizarian. One last thing - they do have really reasonable prices on glasses of wine - They have a happy hour from 5pm to around 8pm with glasses of wine at half price.

Drag Queen brunch on Sunday was fun! Food was meh. Only 5 or 6 brunch items to choose from and they were out of 2. Worst bloody mary I've ever had, but you're going there for the entertainment, not the food. Service was slow and not attentive as well (had to ask for water 3x).

Good food and prompt service for a pre-show dinner. More casual atmosphere, and they were setting up a “paint night” next to us, so don’t imagine a fancy space. The flashing lights above the bar might give some a migraine. So, low key, good food, reasonably priced. Would consider again.

Great friendly service and excellent tasting food. Look to go up a spice level if you are looking for something with a bit more heat however the standard spice level meal I had was spot on for flavor. The main dish portions are on the big side so watch out with those equally big starters. Bistro is definitely an accurate description with a great casual feel. Great bar eating area at front and great mix of seating options at the back. Good happy hour options if you like a refreshment or two.... We recommended it to friends who are visiting this week.

We were at Basera for a birthday. It also happened to be on a Saturday night near Halloween, so the place was decorated, much of the staff wore costumes and there was a festive atmosphere. The only downside was that the staff was a bit distracted and super-busy, so the service wasn't as quick as it might have been. BUT everyone was very nice, and the food was terrific. (We really loved the food.) The happy hour drinks were a lot of fun too. We have happy memories of a special dinner, and we will definitely go back.
