We enjoyed Appellation..... especially the cheese and meat board. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Didn’t like the poutine, but we were curious as poutine gets a lot of buzz. The waiter tried to warn us that we might not like it. Waiter was very sweet. Unfortunately, as we were finishing up, the owner or manager came to each table to tell us they were closing this site next week!

Appellation is always really good and their food is always excellent. I always recommend it to everyone. If you want to have an excellent wine option (also per glass) and a good combination of tapas and entrees options, this is the place to go!

We love coming here for their bottomless mimosas, however, we were not happy at all with the service this last time. In times past, we would have the glass topped off without asking and often. Yesterday we had to ask each time we wanted more and it seemed like the staff were not interested in serving the mimosas. “Bottomless” definitely was not an accurate description of what we paid for. We barely had consumed enough for it to be worth what we spent. Our server took a long time to get to our table and checked in once other than dropping off the bill. The food is always great, so we were happy at least that stayed consistent.

I thought that overall it was good but based on the cost of the food, I was disappointed to see that the portions were that small. I understand that it’s more of a refined / gourmet experience and I certainly appreciate that, but I would expect to have more than a spoonful size of a lamb chop in my plate for what I’m paying for.

This was the first time that I felt that the service staff, from the door to the table, got everything right. They noted the details built into the reservation, they allowed our guests to arrive later without being bothersome, and they cleared plates together after everyone was finished (not intermittently). There was an air of class and care for a restaurant where casual is the norm (We all were dressed fancier than the staff). This presented a slight Jekyll/ Hyde feel between rumpled cotton and tight service, leaving a slightly confusing personae. The food was delightful and just enough of a portion, but some might say not enough. The menu was simple, fitting on one small piece of paper. It seemed that items on the left were smaller plates or appetizers, and those on the right were entrees. This was a guess. The range of entrees covered the basic bases (one chicken, one veal, one veggie, etc) but the collection didn't seem to be enough to have an inner conflict. The drink menu and wine list was way more expansive which seemed glaringly unbalanced. To be fair, this place is billed as a Wine Bar with comfort food - but most people came for dinner, not just drinks. Other hot spots nearby will have a larger menu of comfort food and beer, if this is your preference. Flavors were light and could use more seasoning. Big open windows face the street and the lively walkers, but s few flies can become a slight nuisance. Prices were a few bucks over what one might expect, (especially for wine) but the quality of food might justify. A good portion of the dining room is a bar with stools. The entry side also has some provisions to take home.

It was my first time at Appelation Bistro. The food was delicious. The charcuterie plate for two was presented beautifully. We also enjoyed it that the owner came by with a sample of his family's cheese and conversation about it.

I had been here one time before and really enjoyed my experience. This time, it was so-so. The first observation was how cold the restaurant was. We asked our server if they could adjust the AC, it was that uncomfortable. Our server wasn't all that attentive - we could have probably ordered more drinks (though we had plenty!) if she'd stopped by more often. I couldn't figure out if she was swamped or was just letting us do our thing, but it was frustrating to ask for the wine list, tell her we were ready to order and ask for the check. The support staff was great, we always had water, our dirty plates were cleared efficiently. I loved the cheese plate, we said "dealers choice" and they came back with a great selection. When we finally ordered, we adored the pork and the burger. The mussels were so-so. All in all, it was a great place to celebrate a birthday.

My husband and I like to try new places. Appellation has a nice quaint atmosphere, cheese selection was great, burger and risotto were delicious. Not crazy about the fries. Service was just ok. Took a long time for waiter to come back to us to ask if we wanted another drink even though I kept looking his way. Might just be the night we went.

Great food. Ended up being ignored by servers towards the end of the meal. (Our original server went on break and swapped with another.) Bottomless mimosas last for 2 hours, according to the menu. We were declined after 1.5 hrs by the server telling us that brunch had ended. Also had to go hunt down the check. The ending of this brunch left everyone in our party with a bad taste for Appellation.

This was our second visit to Appellation. The first time we were with three other couples and we sat at the table in the front room surrounded by wines. The service was excellent, and the manager (I believe his name was Anter) was very attentive, funny and engaging, discussing the menu and wines etc. Our second visit was with another couple and we were seated in the main dining room. Our server was not very engaging or friendly (did not speak to us except to take our orders) and the service was slow in between courses. The food was good but they did over cook my "medium" burger. We had the crab dip, fries and the chorizo meatballs to start and the chicken thighs, spaghetti and meatballs and a burger for the main dishes. I'd still go back as its a nice neighborhood spot.

I really wanted to like this place but it seemed like extreme amatuer hour. The bartender was our waiter which led to very long waits for drinks, and ordering, which didn't make any sense, there were only 3 other tables occupied in the restaurant. The cheese plate i ordered was very good since the restaurant is attached to a cheese and wine store. My main course was another story it was horrible. Incredibly over cooked and uninspired. I will not be back unless it were for a drink and some cheese.

Excellent organic and specialty foods, well presented in an open concept space with a cool vibe. I appreciate the high quality food, and that the staff are knowledgeable about the ingredients and products. I learned about a few cheeses I had never tried before during the meal. It would be great if the noise level could be brought down a bit.

I left a less than stellar review about 4 months ago regarding service, once again we had a less than lovely evening. The food is what brings me back, but guys, get it together. we were served a plate with a giant chip on the top, blatantly obvious had the staff attempted to look at what they were serving; would have expected an apology from the server, instead a replacement plate was dropped in front of me without a word. On clearing the table the server dropped my knife onto my shorts, again without an apology or let me get you some soda and a fresh napkin to wipe off. At over $100 for two people with only two cocktails should expect a more refined staff experience.

Appellation was fantastic as always. We went on a Tuesday when they offer retail price on the wine. We shared a number of small plates and the French Cheese Slate. This restaurant has promise, if they can improve their kitchen service. Brunch for a party of four arrived 45 minutes after we sat down over a duration of 15 minutes instead of all at once as would be expected at a restaurant. One person's meal appears to have been completely forgotten by the kitchen staff. Crispy potatoes were inedible as they were burned, but server did remove them from the bill. Please note that the restaurant was not at all crowded during our brunch but server provided the excuse that the kitchen was "slammed". Additionally, only some time after we had ordered did the server inform our party that what we had ordered, which was still printed on the menu, is no longer being offered at the restaurant.
