BK9 serves Caribbean-inspired food that reflects what the 9 members grew up eating with their families in Brooklyn. The one of a kind menu takes the authentic cuisine from Haiti, Trinidad, and Jamaica and adds modern culinary technique and innovation that results in a uniquely refined and delectable experience. I like the restaurant, but overpriced. The Caribbean theme is interesting, the food was good, but expensive for the type of meals served.

I was there on a Saturday night with two friends. We had a reservation but still ended up waiting for a little over 30 minutes. The drinks were great, the oxtail empanadas were DRY, and my fried chicken was undercooked. I sent it back to the kitchen and requested a different piece but the waitperson returned with the same piece of chicken refried. A manager/ owner asked me if I was "ok" I explained to him what I wanted and requested and he, in turn, did the same thing the waitperson did -- return with the same piece of refried.
