I hosted my 40th birthday party for 36 guests at Rider. The experience was exactly what I had hoped for, and my friends can't stop raving about the party! Patrick (owner) and Will (manager) were super responsive and attentive to my requests, but also very down to earth, personable and really easy and pleasant to work with. I picked Rider as a venue because I wanted a private space at a reasonable price. The upstairs room was the perfect size for my party and has a nice wall-length window. (So many party rooms are in the back of the restaurant and don't have any natural light.) Rider easily accommodated my request to play my play list (there is a dedicated speaker system for the upstairs room) and even procured a projector so I could project a slideshow on the wall. This worked out perfectly. More importantly, the food (10 different passed hors d'oeuvres) and drinks were delicious, abundant and at a reasonable price point. I asked that wine and cocktails be available to guests upon arrival, and Will made this happen exactly as I requested. I was a little nervous committing to host a party at a restaurant I didn't know well, but the experience exceeded expectations. I highly recommend Rider for a private party and look forward to returning for a sit-down meal.

I've been a long-time fan of Rider's dinner menu, but was happily surprised for my first Brunch experience - it surpassed any Brunch I've had recently - creative, delicious fare that had us nearly licking our plates. Will be back soon. :)

Mediocre. Spotty service and very inconsistent food quality. Melon was not fully peeled in the melon/cucumber salad. Not busy and food was slow coming out. Only good thing is location next to National Sawdust but better restaurant options in the neighborhood. Would not eat there again before or after a performance.

The food was excellent. It’s a very relaxed spot with good drinks and good food. The wait staff is super attentive and really nice. I would highly recommend the fried chicken sandwich and the Sexy Burt Reynolds drink. Very well priced as well.

Found Rider on OpenTable, checked out reviews on another site and they all appeared to be positive, so I decided to give them a try. I went with my cousin for brunch. I had the crispy chicken sandwich, she had the omelette. We were both happy with our order. We also tried one of their cocktails, Covet They Neighbor’s Drink, loved it! Only downside, it took quite some time to receive our food (to me, brunch is usually more fast paced). But it wasn’t to the point of asking our server about the status of our orders. Servers were great as well. I’d go back to try their dinner menu.

I had a great experience at Rider. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The plates are quite small which is great for sharing. Among myself and two friends we ordered two appetizers and two pizzas and it was more than enough food. Very interesting menu items, highly recommend the fried eggplant as well as the smoked ricotta. The combination of flavors and textures was amazing. Also LOVED the rosemary infused vodka.

Great spot for brunch with friends. Yummy food, fun menu and casual atmosphere good for cross table conversation with a group. My only complaint was the humidity on the second floor.

Even though one of my favorite dishes is no longer on the menu the dinner was delicious. The food is modern, innovative, and well executed. The wine list is great. And the service was excellent; our server was really engaged, understood us a group and was very helpful. Love dinner and brunch here. We keep coming back here and are always happy with the food and the experience

I would of given a much higher rating to Rider, except the service was quite slow and we had a biscuit mishap. I ordered a biscuit and it didn't come for 20 minutes. Then when it arrived, it was still uncooked in the middle! So, I sent it back and about 30 minutes later they brought me a second biscuit. When I dug into that one, it was also totally raw at the center! I doubt this usually happens, but it was a little confusing that we had exact issue twice in an hour. Also, the biscuits looked really good, so I was super disappointed to send the second one back and ask them to cancel the order. The other food was good, though! Worth the longer service wait.

We've only been once for dinner before and it was fantastic and the brunch that we had this weekend was equally amazing. The food, the presentation, the wine, the service, all were flawless. The music choices could use some work but that is the only negative that I can think of. Definitely coming again for both brunch and dinner.

We liked the outdoor seating. Our server Miriam was especially good. Plus they threw in free dessert on honor of my birthday, which I much appreciated. Since I very much dislike noisy restaurants, I enjoyed that it was pretty quiet. I'm there to enjoy good food and talk with my friends, neither of which is helped at all by loud music and then people shouting over it to be heard.

There is no question that the food at Rider is among the very very best in New York. A truly outstanding menu and attentive service. Rider is basically a "small plates" restaurant and I like that since so many restaurants serve portions that are too large. One can always order more plates (as we did). Prices are high (commensurate with the extremely high food quality) so this is probably more for special occations than for regular "everyday" dining. Because it is part of National Sawdust it is the perfect place to go when also attending concerts at National Sawdust. I just cannot say enough parise about Rider (and about NS as a music venue). A great choice!!

Really special, don’t know why this place doesn’t have higher ratings. Crudo, fried eggplant, smoked ricotta, chicken, and Weinstein were outstanding. The Coffee Cookie Crunch ice cream is truly WOW FOOD ! I am still dreaming about it.

So much fun here -- the bartender was great and the cocktails were amazing! And the food was terrific also -- looking forward to going back soon. Perfect pre-show spot for Music Hall of Williamsburg or any of the other venues in the area.

My family of 4 stayed in Brooklyn for our Spring Break vacation. When we travel, we like to go where the locals go. However, I really couldn't say how popular this place is with the locals, but we loved it! I stumbled across it on the Open Table app and just trusted the reviews. We went for brunch on Easter Sunday...Not knowing the area, I just wanted to be sure we could find a table somewhere on Easter Sunday. We all ordered different dishes and each one was amazing! We started with the lemon fennel doughnuts. To die for. My daughter had the avocado toast and loved it. My son said the pancakes were some of the best he has ever had. My husband had the smoked salmon and potatoes, unique and delicious. I had a biscuit and chicken sausage. The biscuit was exceptional and the chicken sausage is house made. Highly recommend this place.

Rider was very good. Only complaint was long wait for the food to arrive. But the complimentary donuts at the beginning of brunch were amazing! Meals were all very good. Service was very pleasant. We would go back.
