   Incredible food, great service!! Portions are huge and worth every penny. Ribs are dry rubbed to perfection. Best I've ever eaten!! Love the atmosphere here. Nice place but not uppity in the slightest. Very comfortable and classy. Loved it!

   Good Southern smoked comfort food. I had a sizable pile of pulled pork. Best cole slaw ever. My wife had a burger. She seemed to enjoy it since there was none left. The local beer was excellent.

   Delicious food! Pulled pork was yummy and that's coming from someone who grew up in a big BBQ town in NC. If you're a fan of the show "Fixer Upper" you will love the decor. Way more food than we could eat!

   The I was sold with the cast iron cornbread w/pork drippings but enjoyed the Smoked Tomato Bisque together with the Hash and Carolina Rice I shared w/my wife who also had the Skillet of Mac & Cheese. A night of appetizers but filling and delicious. Service was great and it wasn't noisy (although we were on the early side at 5:30). A great meal experience in Charleston.

   Poogans is one of my fav spots in Charleston great service and atmosphere! Most of all delicious BBQ food! They also make the best sangria! I would recommend this to everyone definitely check it out!!

    Everything about Poogan's exceeded our expectations. The cornbread appetizer was amazing and recommended by our server who also explained the menu and some of her favorites. Pulled pork, fried chicken and mac n cheese were all out of this world. Sauces for barbecue were phenomenal- especially the mustard blend. Next time we are in Charleston, we will return without a doubt.

    Food was delicious. I had the brisket special with broccoli, mushroom gravy and an egg. My wife had the pulled pork. The brisket was good, but the pulled pork was some of the best either of us have ever had. It was clearly slow smoked for an extended time and full of smoky, meaty goodness. Cocktails were also good, which was a bit surprising for a barbecue restaurant.

    My wife and I were in Charleston for the weekend, and though we typically enjoy seafood when we are there, we decided to try Poogan's smokehouse, since we had previously enjoyed our experience at Poogan's Porch a number of years ago. My wife had pulled pork, collard greens, and brussel sprouts. I had pulled pork, ribs, blackeyed pea salad and collard greens. Both of us enjoyed the pulled pork. It had a nice smokey flavor and was not overly seasoned. Available sauces were spicy vinegar, mustard sauce, and a tomato based sauce (with some mustard sauce). All of these sauces were very good, though I am partial to the mustard and vinegar based sauces, but the pulled pork was very good with no sauce. The ribs were very tender, but they were far too salty for my taste, and the salt overwhelmed the rest of the dry rub seasoning. The collards were tender with a mild vinegar and sweet flavor. The brussel sprouts were well seasoned and cooked with bacon. The blackeyed pea salad was served cold with cherry tomatoes mixed in, and if there was a sauce used, it was hardly noticeable, with the blackeyed pea flavor being very present. The staff was very friendly, and our server was engaging and attentive to drinks and very available if something was needed. The only disappointment was the salty ribs, but I would recommend overall, as the pulled pork was very good, as well as the sides, and the service staff.

    Very good. Hit this the night after we did Husk so our bar for Charleston's food scene was set high early and this didn't disappoint. My table had the catfish, ribs, wings, and Mac and Cheese. Would absolutely go back. Comfortably busy (operating at 90% of capacity) and food, service, cleanliness, were all top notch.

    Very good bbq. Had the ribs and pulled pork, and both were great. Also tried the Pimento fried cheese balls, and fried buffalo pork rinds and really enjoyed them. My wife loved the fried chicken. We had a terrific server. She recommended a cocktail (Italian American in Paris) which was delicious. Really great night out.

    We've been here multiple times on various trips to charleston. Food was fabulous as always. Unfortunately the service was less than stellar. After ordering our drinks the server disappeared for a rather lengthy time. When he finally reappeared, he gave us our drinks but didn't even ask if we were ready to place our order. He disappeared again for about 15 minutes before coming back to take our order. Once our food came, we did not see the server again. No refills, no questions if food was okay. We had to flag him down to get the bills. The best meal can be ruined by poor service.

    My wife and I had a brunch date at this location. She loves Poogan's, but had never been to the smokehouse. Neither of us were very hungry to begin with, which was unfortunate, since the portion sizes were quite generous. She got the chicken and waffles, which were good. The waffles came with a bacon grease infused butter which gave it a nice extra kick. We split an appetizer of biscuits, which were some of the best I've had. The biscuits were hot and fresh, moist and fluffy, very nice. The jam we got with them was individual tubs of Smucker's strawberry. My entree was the two-meat combo, with pulled pork and ribs. The pulled pork was recommended by the waitress, but it was average. The ribs, however, were cooked to perfection and the dry-rub was awesome. The rice and hash side dish was one of my favorite sides I've had at a BBQ place, and the cheese grits were pretty good too. In all, definitely worth your time, just come hungry.

    Nicely done Poogan's. Had a group of 8 set for the Friday night rush at 7:30 PM and we were seated immediately, paid attention to throughout and thoroughly enjoyed the food, drink, fellowship and surroundings. From boiled peanuts to pork rinds to two meat platters and sides, all was enjoyed and commented on as we dined. I had the pork belly bowl (forgot menu name) on server reco and it was outstanding. It was energetic but not overly loud in the space and the vibe was how I would build it out if I had the chance. As is my habit I asked about tableside Bananas Foster and Hot Banana Pudding and neither was on the menu, (This is how I get out of ordering dessert, not a slam) I am sure the desserts rock as well but no room left. Will return and have already recommended to at least three or four folks.

    The food was outstanding. Best ribs that I have every eaten with our without their house made sauces, which were tasty as well. Service was a little slower than I prefer but our server was very attentive and thoughtful. Will go back because of the food quality was so good and I have already recommended on my Facebook page for others to try.

    Went in for duck, listed on the online menu. Menu in restaurant was totally different. Not a single side item I would eat. Really loud, Wouldn't return. Just personally not my scene.
