Mezza Luna Restaurant
Particularly enjoyed salmon carpaccio and prosciutto with Parmesan appetizers although would have preferred shaved vs sticks of Parmesan. Lamb chops (5) were good, accommodated one diner by preparing the mixed seafood grill for two as one serving. Split a dinner for the two other diners who eat smaller portions. Yummy profiteroles and tiramisu for dessert. Friendly and accommodating.
Mezza Luna never disappoints. Welcoming staff, attentive service, never hurried, excellently prepared meals. Italian cuisine expertly executed and service in a pretty restaurant that is family friendly.
This was our second time visiting Mezza Luna, and the both the service and food were outstanding! Our guests included people from Sicily, Calabria, and Luca, and since they knew Roberto who is one of the owners there was a lot of Italian conversation going one. This is one of their go to places for excellent Italian food and they introduced my wife and I to ML. They bake their own bread and make their own deserts, which are very tasty. We bring our own wine so I cannot comment on their wine list although it looks pretty good. We celebrated a birthday this time, and the staff (and our tenor at the table) sang HBD. We plan on returning soon. It is a good value for what you get, and you will n to be disappointed in my opinion.
The staff was absolutely pleasant the whole time while part of our party was late, about 1 hour, due to the Pumpkin Festival traffic. I have to say the restaurant wasn't packed yet being I had a reservation at 5:00 pm, but, by the time we left it appeared pretty full. The food was wonderful as I have come to expect and Italian wine list is outstanding.
We went with a group of friends and our kids. Even though it was mostly couples, the wait staff was friendly and there were pizzas for the kids and great options for the adults. We did go on the early side - 5pm. Not sure what it would be like later, but the service was prompt and the food very good.
Celebrated a birthday. Never disappointed with Mezza Luna!
Have been there before and was pleased. Tonight was a trainwreck. Involitini of veal was overcooked and had the look and taste of a Jimmy Dean sausage. The sage butter sauce tasted of neither. All for $27.50. The capellini was swimming in tomato sauce and ended up a soggy lump. All food underseasoned and just bland. Service was friendly but slow and inattentive. Neither worth the price nor the trip.
This is one of my mom’s favorites. A nice destination for a drive to Half Moon Bay.
Wait staff was beyond inattentive.
Love the food. Exceptional pasta and sauces. Great ambience!
The Three owners are Terrific, enjoy speaking Italian with them.
Food is outstanding.
Waiters are AND Waitresses make you feel welcome.
Molto bene! Our celebration evening with family was perfect! Our appetizers, calamari and pizza, were wonderful as always. The calamari comes with a sauce that is unique to that dish with just the right combination of spices. We tried a couple new dishes, lasagna and scallops. Both were fantastic and cooked to perfection. The other dishes, tried and true, bolognese and alfredo pastas were delicious as well. The desserts, molten lava cake, gelato, and sorbet, were decadently sweet and supreme! It appeared that the entire waitstaff showed up to sing Happy Birthday! The wine list at Mezzaluna is extensive and our choice, from Montefalco, was superb! This was one of the finest meals and was enhanced by the entire staff! Kudos to Roberto!
Maybe we picked a wrong day (it was Tuesday night) but I was disappointed by this place. We had a reservation and we still were waiting about 20 minutes just to be seated. What was the point of making reservation at all? Then we were seated and also waited at our table hoping to get noticed by somebody at some point. The food was nothing special, very blah. It was either overall boring looking plates and in some cased overcooked non tasty meat. Even my husband, who usually tries to pick some "samples" from everybody's plates this time simply refused all of the offering and made a face. This has never happened before. Desert was ok but coffee was cold. The staff brought free gelato and sang happy birthday, which was the only nice thing about this restaurant. Overall, nothing special in décor and no ambiance in this over 100 years old building. The restaurant was packed to the gills with mostly senior age people and it felt loud, boring and stuffy. The waiter looked rushed and tired. He mixed up our order and brought something that we did not asked for. He looked very annoyed when we told him so, as if it is our fault. I thought that this was a great place for my daughter to have her birthday dinner, but I wish I would have chosen some place more exciting. I don't even recall that my Open Table points were applied. I will have to check what happened. No one mentioned it when we were presented with the bill. Too many people in the restaurant, too little time, I guess.
Just OK, nothing stellar. Croutons on Cesar salad were stale.Fresh ground pepper was not offered, had to ask for Parmesan cheese. Chunky, thick, dollar store wine glasses are totally inappropriate for this restaurant with white table cloths. Good location, good service.
Food traditionally but excellently prepared. Service friendly and highly professional.
Very noisy made the entire experience unpleasant. The lamb chops were fat and greasy.
Food here is ok. Bread is really good, my daughter enjoyed her pizza; my husbands lasagne was tasty but cold, my pasta was perfectly edible but not as tasty as i hoped. Diners scew older. Nothing special.
Love Mezza Luna. I have been going here for years. It’s in a great location- Food is always fantastic & always have great specials. I enjoy the quiet atmosphere.
This is our favorite restaurant in Half Moon Bay! We go here for special occasions, as well as fun weekend dining.
The food and service were excellent. I had sand dabs at our waiter's recommendation (local and only available for a short time). They were delicious with a delicate lemon cream sauce and practically melted in my mouth. We had a leisurely dinner and were not rushed at all. I was able to book a table on short notice on a Friday evening without a problem, due to the large dining area. The big dining area is great for large parties. The staff adeptly reconfigured tables as diners came and went.
Have been enjoying Mezza Luna since the 1990's...Food is wonderful southern Italian/Sicilian, always flavorful, great sauces, perfect place for conversation with friends or a business meeting...Servers take great care of you, but leave you alone for long conversations, no hurrying you up to 'turn the table", and as it is in Italy, the best venue for good friends and uninterrupted conversation...Our first.choice for
meeting friends for lunch or dinner...
Was fantastic as usual! The veal was excellent and the pasta was sensational!
Worth the two hour drive from brentwood. We always enjoy the excellent service and menu.
Spend time together
We’ve been to Mezzanine Luna many times and have never been disappointed This Friday evening was exceptionally busy but the service was great. The food was excellent as usual. We were in the side room which was a little noisy. They did have a large birthday party. All in all a great experience.
Typical Southern Italian fare. Family friendly atmosphere.
Went to celebrate a friend's birthday. There were two other birthdays then. (This must be the place for birthdays.) Large dining area; rustic and warm. Food was delicious. A bit pricey. Service was attentive but a bit of a language barrier at times. Go for the Tuesday special, best deal for the money.
everything was excellent, service was great, they were very nice and flexible when i came in 2 hours earlier than my reservation, because of scheduling on my part
As always the food is wonderful. The wait staff is always kind and very attentive. Be sure to check out the seasonal specials. They never disappoint!
Our music event at The Wine Bar, to see Marty Williams Quartet was at 7pm. Arriving at Messa Luna at 5:30, with a table by the water, it was quiet so we enjoyed an intimate conversation with our waiter giving us time to enjoy our cocktails. I had the mixed greens salad (outstanding), and my date had a delicious Cesar salad. We decided on pepperoni pizza, that we thought we’d take some home, but it was so terrific we ate it all! All in all a superior restaurant!
Good food and atmosphere.
Enjoyed the salmon ravioli . The fettuccine with fresh pasta was lovely
We had exceptional service and the food was delicious! We will definitely be coming back again.
Excellent Italian food, nice array of choices. Friendly staff at all levels. Neighbor view with some ocean views as well.
GREAT AUTHENTIC HOUSE MADE BREAD, PASTA & DESERTS , GREAT PRIMITIVO & CHIANTI WINES
GIOVANI & ROBERTO GRACOIUS HOSTS , SERVER GUILLERMO is VERY ACCOMODATING .
Simply an outstanding restaurant, with great food, well-made cocktails, a fine wine list, and excellent service. We have been there a number of times and have never been disappointed. That’s why we keep going back. We have recommended Mezza Luna to a number of friends and they love it too.
The ravioli stuffed with salmon was amazing. The complementary bread was fantastic. The tiramisu was also top rate.
Dining at Mezza Luna is ALWAYS a fantastic experience. It's like going home to family....you feel cared for and happy to be there! We can count on our favorite dishes to be expertly prepared. Best restaurant on the Coastside and beyond!!!
Mezza Luna never fails to please, and it did please us mightily, again. It's always a treat to dine there.
This is definitely our go to restaurant when we are in the Pillar Point area. Everything is delicious. Would highly recommend.
