This was a great find on google and a treat to have live music. There is definitely live music on Thursday nights (the night we went) 7-10pm. And I think Monday evenings from 6 or 6.30pm. The 3 of us had a lovely evening. Everything was great.
Superb escargot and frogs legs followed by coffee and lemon ice. Outstanding lunch for only $33 + tax and tip. Very attentive service and friendly atmosphere. Family owned and run. Great value and location for theatre.
Five women friends had dinner at Le Rivage after attending the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. We had the choice between the three-course Prix Fixe menu or ordering A La Carte. We ordered a wide variety of food, from Boeuf Bourgignon to Troute Almondine. Everyone enjoyed their selections. The restaurant was cozy and I enjoyed the colorful paintings on the walls. The noise level was not too high--we had no trouble having a conversation. We had the added bonus of enjoying a jazz quartet that performed during dinner. They were great. I highly recommend this restaurant for before or after theatre dining.
Have been dining at Le Rivage for over 25 years whenever I'm in the theater district. As always, the food does not disappoint!!!!
My girlfriend and I have eaten here twice now and we love it. You can’t beat the experience for such a low cost (the 43$ 3 course meal is our go-to) and we will definitely be back soon.
Food was excellent and service very attentive
Such a great place to eat before a show! Food was fantastic. Wine choices superb. Staff very friendly.
Everything was great except kitchen closed before our dessert order and could not get creme brulee. Took a star off for this. This place is a gem in the theatre district and if you take post theatre, the whole menu should be available to the end. It was a birthday and my friend loves creme brulee.
I was a solo diner and reserved a seat at the bar. Most restaurants don't have this option. The service and pre-fixe menu was outstanding, but the noise level was deafening coming from a packed pre-theatre crowd.
As always, we received delicious food in s comfortable setting with a bonus of live jazz in the background. That is available Monday and Thursday evenings.
This was a great find! A fun, tasteful, calm experience even if it is in the theater district.
There were 3 of us. One had the lamb chops and thought they were terrific. Another had the prix fixe salmon with a ceasar salad and chocolate mousse for dessert at a great price at $33 and very tasty. I had the quiche appetizer and wasn't very happy with it. It looked like 2 leftover slivers of vegetable quiche that tasted fine but did not include the roasted potatoes and only 3 or 4 small pieces of frizzy lettuce as described on the menu. The wines that we selected by the glasses were great. We will probably go back but I will speak up if I order the quiche again.
Fabulous price fix with excellent choices. The trout was delicious & the beet salad was also excellent. Service& atmosphere made for a great post theatre dinner.
We were a party of six the food was very good and our waiter was excellent he was entertaining and very efficient would recommend this restaurant to anyone
Excellent service, foid was very goid, very nice ambience. Will visit again.
Food and service wonderful, as usual. Had reservation for 5:00. Got to theater in plenty of time for 7:00 show. Never felt rushed.
Good food&service great value with lots of choices for pre theatre lunch ! Our go to rest for lunch before the theatre
We really enjoyed our price fixed lunch. The food was very good with the exception of the bread. They got us out in plenty of time for our show.
A good authentic French restaurant. Escargot in their shells and frogs legs being a good example. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
This is a great place! 3 course price fixe only so no ala carte. There are many varied choices for all 3 courses and all the food was so good. The price is reasonable for a full dinner. This is perfect for pre-theater. I’m already thinking about next time- a different combo of 3: app, main and dessert. Excellent!!
Went before the theater... they are known for their French onion soup burger and it didn’t disappoint. Service is a bit slow everything else is good. Give yourself plenty of time if you are ore-theater... and expect to be smashed together like sardines!
Delicious as usual! Following in my Mom's tradition of eating at Le Rivage before a Broadway show. They are mindful of showtimes and always get you out in time for the show. I had the French onion soup burger for the first time and it was yummy - smothered with melted cheese and carmelized onions as you would imagine. So tasty.
Great place for a pre show dinner. Prix fixe menu has lots of good options. Escargot and salmon were perfect. Cozy atmosphere.
Went with a friend before the theatre. Staff sensitive to getting theatre goers out on time, without minimizing attention to detail and great service. The food was delicious, ample (meaning large portions) and the prix fixe value amazing. I enjoyed my roasted beat salad, calves liver (finally a restaurant that understands how thick the liver should be) served with mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts (they could have been cooked more or roasted) and bacon. My dessert was peach melba. My friend had the beet salad without the creme fraiche (they didn't say...oh that's how it comes), salmon and apple tarte.
Can't wait to go back. It's truly a find in the theatre district and anywhere else: great food, great service, great value.
We had a good meal. The value is good for New York City. A little to rushed.
The good news is the location- very close to the theaters. The restaurant itself is pretty and the staff is friendly. The service was good. But the food just okay. My wife had the trout almandine- it was edible but not good enough to return for. My meal was fine. We enjoyed our dessert. The wine list was not memorable. The restaurant was crowded as it was a play night. They specialize in pre theater diners and seem to have a good business but not for us again. We did enjoy our dessert.
Great post matinee meal. Three of us ordered the Onion Soup Burger which was AWESOME.
Two Beef bourguignon. I had my favorite escargot!
Everything was delicious, great service.
Will return for our next outing !
For me to choose the same restaurant twice in one week says something good about the restaurant. There were a number of things on the menu I wanted to try. And so, since we were in the same neighborhood, and had had such a good meal on Sunday, we chose Le Rivage again on Wednesday. And everything that we ordered this time was equally wonderful. No wonder this restaurant has been a mainstay of restaurant row for so long.
I don't think I'll return for awhile.
When you're seated and left unattended for five minutes that's not good service. There were a lot of workers moving around, but none in our direction. I was about to leave when a waiter finally appeared. The food is better than the service, but that's not a great recommendation.
Our second time to celebrate our anniversary at Le Rivage with 4 years in between. It was as good as we remembered. Suburb food and wine. I was hoping to try a desert, but the entree was just to great that I couldn't leave any room. Guess, we will have to go back.
Great food . Friendly and helpful staff. Great for pre or after theater dining.
It's no wonder Le Rivage has been a mainstay of restaurant row for so long. The food is excellent. And it's not easy to get good French food for reasonable prices in New York anymore. I couldn't resist the Coq au Vin. My friend loved her seafood crepe and the accompaniments on the plate. The 3 of us had different appetizers: pate (of course), bisque, and beet salad. All were wonderful as were the desserts and ,of course, the wine! We liked it so much that we're coming back for dinner this week!
Have always had a very good meal at this restaurant. The service is also excellent.
We always enjoy dining at LeRivage after seeing a Broadway matinee show! Food is consistently delicious and service is attentive!
The appetizers and chicken were great. The short rib was a little tough and the chocolate mousse tasted great but was small. The other deserts were wonderful.
We had reservations for 5:30, and Uber ran light so I called and said we were running late and would be there in 15 minutes. They said thank you and that the table would be available. We made it there and they had given our table away as soon as I called. I said if you were going to do that then you should have given me the courtesy of telling me as I would have made other plans.
We waited 15 minutes for another table. Everything was rushed-- and not just for us as most people in the restaurant. I would have liked the dinner better if I did not have a place to go. Try this place BUT not if you have a show. Our waiter was great but they just can't keep up the pace.
Great food choices. Great food. Amazing service. Thank you Jose! Cannot wait to return.
Wonderful spot for brunch before theatre.
Loved the decor as well as the warm friendly staff.
Look forward to acreturn visit on next trip in February
Delicious food, great service, wonderful wine selection. Definitely recommend and will be coming back again very soon!
