Cafe Degas is our favorite place to go for a special occasion in New Orleans. We went for my wife’s birthday and everything was wonderful as always. We hadn’t visited in quite a while but our server Jason recognized us right away - he is the best! The expanded specials menu was excellent - the cocktail, the gravalox appetizer, the filet, and the flash fried oysters were all impeccable. They surprised my wife with a free birthday crème brûlée (delicious) without making it into a big spectacle. We also had the delicious mousse and the ice box lemon pie (yes, we over indulged lol). Love this restaurant.

The redfish was absolutely wonderful as was the lamb soup. Jason’s drinks are always spectacular as is Brady’s service. It was as always wonderful.

We enjoyed our lunch at cafe Degas. We had a delicious lunch quiche with salad and a crepe for dessert. Service was efficient and pleasant. It is a casual dependable eatery.

Overall, everything was good. However, I specifically mentioned that it was Kirk’s B-Day and during our meal it was not acknowledged. Why would you guys ask for special requests and then ignore them. The service was indifferent, beyond continental; the place was nearly empty for early lunch, my second entree was wrong and then late; okay, that’s not the end of the world. But I was invisible for twenty minute after I was finished, my table uncleared. I get it, single top for lunch. I’m a long time patron and I was very surprised.

One of the best steak frittes we’ve ever had! However, bread was stale, the house butter was great, the dessert was average, and the french onion soup was more cheese & bread than onions. Overall, the steak & service helped the experience get better.

We have been going to Cafe Degas for 30 years and it has been one of our favorite places. The food last night was very lack luster. The venue is charming and the waiter was great. My lamb was slightly overcooked and the sides were cold (despite the ambient temperature being 80-85). The fries on the other plate were also cold. The steak was “ok”. My salad was fine-good. The French onion soup was as good as it typically is.

Gypsy jazz (Is THAT acceptable any more? I'm gonna say it regardless!) on Wednesday evenings. Chilled cocktails and a light dinner between the 2 of us. Nigh perfect evening!!! Always one of our favorite spots to drop in. It doesn't disappoint. Hope you enjoy your visit!

This is a lovely place to eat, outside of the crowded French Quarter and amid lovely NOLA architecture. The service was excellent, loved the French bistro ambiance and the new wave French music. The food was good although not excellent. I do recommend the Ile Flottante (floating island) as dessert.

Four of us came for Coolinary and were excited to try a new place! Unfortunately, while the decor was nice and food was decent, it took 30 mins for our server to come to our table due to a “miscommunication.” We only finally got someone after going up to the hostess and asking. We then got some wrong beverages (we did get the wrong ones for “free”) and there was general confusion by the waitstaff throughout the full meal. One person had to take their meal to go due to the long wait. I really wanted to like this place, but with all the great places in New Orleans, it won’t get a second chance from us. What a bummer.

The food and the beverages were delicious, especially the shrimp and grits. Pork tenderloin was good as well, I just would have preferred less of the garnish. The beverages were excellent.

This is a restaurant that we always enjoy and frequently bring out of town guests to dine; however, in the current heat, it should not be allowed to remain open, if unable to cool the patrons. The temperature was unbearable and the fans produced no air movement. P.S. The liver, always a favorite, had a terribly bitter sauce or breading)

The Crab salad had a wonderful combination of flavors - jumbo lump crabmeat as promised, and the grapefruit, fennel and arugula were awesome with the delicious but light dressing. The Oueff Sardou was the best rendition of eggs Sardou I have ever tried.
