Ambience was cheesy, bright and bad lighting, unattractive decor , dull layout
Loving the Spanish red wined on the list! The winter spinach salad is superb!
One of our favorites in Santa Fe. Always a must when we are in town. Have been following chef Steve Garcia for many years and never disappointed!
Some food came out cold ( they did bring new serving out, but took time) The sauces were not as good as they were in the past. Ran out of flan. Not very good experience.
Loved this place for a terrific Santa Fe meal that highlights the local flavors and traditions. And love the backstory of the owner too coming from religious life as a Franciscan. We will certainly return when in Santa Fe again.
We were surprised by Estavan. Wonderfully good food - elegant but unpretentious and warm atmosphere.
Beautiful, warm, and inviting...the perfect winter spot with a roaring fireplace and intimate seating. And the food is breathtakingly fresh and local, with genuine New Mexican flourishes. We shared a Farmer’s market warm spinach salad with Roquefort and bacon, perfectly fresh and savory. Although we were tempted by the wild boar (which was a favorite from our last visit), we decided on another off-menu special, Artic Char with Beurre Blanc and Caper Sauce, squeaky fresh, perfectly cooked and totally satisying with wild rice pilaf and the consistently perfect Farmer’s market vegetables (in this case colorful cauliflower) alongside. The menu favorite Chicken Paillard delivered too: tasty and just done, tender and delicious. Wine service is exceptional: Letitia at the front of the house know her cellar and knows her wine. We’ve stopped ordering from the excellent wine list because her pairings have been always superior to our choices. You guessed it: this is our new favorite restaurant in Santa Fe. It just hits the mark on so many aspects and provides real value by satisfying one’s expectations for fine dining.
The buffalo special is amazing with buffalo bone marrow!!!
Estevan always brings a creative and delicious meal.
What a wonderful dining experience. The owner/operator greeted my husband and I and immediately seated us. He was very welcoming and shared with us his recommendations for the specials for the evening. I ordered the "sea bass" special which was phenomenal. My husband ordered another fish, salmon, I think and it was also delicious. This was our first trip to Santa Fe and when we come back, we will definitely return to Estevan.
Such a great Spanish wine list!!! One of the best in town!
The main dining room was small and excessively hot - no ventilation and fire going. Food was excellent but not very inventive...more old school charm. Good restaurant but not a stand out for Santa fe in my opinion.
Amazing!! The food was delicious and the setting and staff were wonderful!
Inventive creative menu that surprised and kept us engaged with flavors and pairings. Dining rooms had beautiful artwork and lighting was dim for a wonderful ambiance. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, eager to please and personable. Chef greeted us before and after the meal. It was a very special place and a dynamite meal. It was probably one of my 3 best meals ever, next to French Laundry and Flora Street Cafe. Bravo!
What a delightful find. We have walked past Estevan many times without giving it a thought. The intimate atmosphere is wonderful, especially with a fire in the fireplace. The food was very good and service very personalized. We will return.
On a crisp cool night the ambiance is amazing with a real wood fireplace burning pinon and cedar wood!
The smell is an amazing complement to delicious food!
My wife and I visited Santa fe NM for a week and we were expecting to try some originals/unique flavors. I read estevan’s restaurant was really good. But in my opinion, i think it’s just the usual restaurant but overpriced. Food is good, but not unique. Also, the appetizer we tried and the trout lacked of flavor and Salt.maybe that could didnt have a good day ... but Honestly i would not go back again and not bc the food wasn’t good but bc i think there are other places in Santa fe that are actually worth to spent a couple of hundred dls in and experience something different like we did after having dinner at Estevan’s
Great food in a very pleasant setting.
The chicken paillard was incredible! Wonderfully romantic ambiance as well.
Simply an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. Food, service, attention to detail,...all first rate. We felt as though we were dining with family.
Birthday dinner - great steak
We were touring Santa Fe and decided to stay for dinner - what an amazing find, the locals are so lucky to have this available every day!
Estevan was a hidden gem that we found while visiting Santa Fe. It is a small nicely decorated place on the second floor of the hotel. Immediately upon entering, the chef greeted us and from then on the dinner was fun, friendly, and delicious. Our waitress Leticia was incredible - very helpful, personable, and great to talk to. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Santa Fe!
After having eaten in different Santa Fe restaurants 5 days in a row, I have to admit that this was by far the most overpriced place I have been to in years, the food varying between quite good (salsas) and just downright terrible (pork chops, as dry as a bone, 32$, just couldn´t believe it). The french Fries soggy and undercooked. Our waiter didn´t show up most of the time and forgot to bring the wine on time, on the other hand, the waitress attending the tables around us, seemed to be quite the contrary. Santa Fe might have inflated prices in general but this place just overdid it considering the mediocre quality of the food.
Estevan is always a treat. Innovative food choices well prepared
Very well prepared & diverse menu using fresh, local ingredients
Only downside is no full bar. Their Sangria is quite delightful, however. I would recommend sitting outside if the weather allows.
My girlfriend ordered rainbow trout. It was not seasoned properly at all. Unsalted on one part and over salted on another, dry, generally lacking in flavor and with a rubber texture. The same could be said for the spinach and potatoe side dishes. It seems they were not freshly made, just thrown together and slightly microwaved. She couldn’t eat her meal. The nice evening that we were looking forward to was spoiled. Management was not sympathetic. To be fair my hamburger and fries were good. Don’t recommend.
Great food and great service in a cozy atmosphere!
Very good location near the Plaza in Santa Fe. The service was very good. The food... so-so. We wanted to really like this locally owned place, but, alas, came away somewhat disappointed.
We had reserved an outdoor table and arrived just after a light rain shower. We were greeted gruffly by the owner of the restaurant. I inquired about the possibility of having the patio seating. He seemed visibly annoyed that I inquired about the possibility. The waiter was very capable, knowledgable and friendly. The bus boys seemed fearful of what appeared to be the head waitress. She came by our table and said this is good and the next table she said loudly in front of the patron that this was not acceptable. It appeared she was attempting to train him, but in my opinion, it was done inappropriately. We asked our waiter about the patio and if would open could be moved to that location. She interrupted him while he was speaking to us and curtly advised us that the cushions were wet and it was unlikely that we would be moved there but she would keep us updated. The food was good, lamb chops and the chile relleno appetizer. I would pass on the tres leches cake though.
This restaurant is under rated - it is an excellent dining option for those looking for excellent food in a wonderful setting. The flavors of the dishes highlight the locally sourced fresh ingredients.
The food was not horrible but it did not knock my socks off. I will say the sauces that were served with each dish were very good. It just kind of fell flat for my. The service was great and the ambiance was good. I probably will not go back. Well maybe for lunch.
Everything was great and service was excellent.
From the moment we were greeted and seated on the patio outdoors by Laetitia, we were welcomed and given such attention and care it felt like a private exclusive dining experience. It was the best given the wonderful chips and salsa on the table, to the smooth margarita, trout dinner, and fabulous flan dessert. The service was meticulous and timely, non-intrusive and just right. This is a pearl of a restaurant. Thank you.
Love that they use paper bags and not plastic for takeaway!
Wish there was an option for 10 stars because our dinner at Estevan deserved it. The menu was unique, the food was spectacular and the service was unmatched. Could not possibly have had a better experience. Eight thumbs up from the four of us!
Love the baby corn they serve that is in season for a very short time!
The pasta bolognese is wonderful very balanced sauce!
I am sorry to have to write such a great review....may not be able to get a reservation in the future. This place is great, best lamb I ever had (lived in CO for 56 years so I had lots of lamb). I would highly recommend this restaurant over any other in Santa Fe.
