We really enjoyed the unique flair. It was pretty dark, making it difficult to read the menus. The cocktails were good, not amazing. But the staff were pretty solid. I’d still take the Brickyard over this place!
Unique and interesting menu. Not a huge selection so you have to be a little adventurous but there's something for everyone from the unusual to chicken. Absolutely loved the tuna poke style (although the menu doesn't really describe it as such so we were glad we asked about the dish as it was delicious!) The cauliflower appetizer was fine but not as exciting as previous reviews nor the menu's description. Cozy, fun, upstairs environment. Good spot for an easy, relaxing evening. Very nice service too.
Excellent service, fine food that is presented with pizazz, great value. We are looking forward to our next visit. We come to Scottsdale for a few months a year and your restaurant is one of the reasons.
Great location, great food, and wonderful service! Will definitely return on my next trip!
Recently had a date night here and we loved it. It was our first time here and we’ll definitely be back!
The restaurant is cute. They redid the drinks menu and there isn't much listed for cocktails. It used to have cocktails through the decades that was so interesting.
One of us had the pasta. There wasn't much there. I have seen diet meals with more pasta.
I had the best dish, scallops and risotto, it was good, but I could make it at home.
Another one had the burger, good, but not worth the price.
Last one of us had the Duck Confit and it was good, but not great and very salty.
The desserts were actually terrible. A dry chocolate bundt cake and a dry piece of banana bread that was supposed to be bread pudding.
Not that great for the price.
Great little restaurant, dark and quiet, fantastic whiskey menu.
This is my first bad time at second story. It was really a disappointment. The food was just okay and the service was less than acceptable and very slow. I hope it was just a bad night.
The cocktails are inventive and delicious. Food was great! It was a bit loud. But we will definitely be back.
Second Story is always fun. My friend and I had a great time! We shared some brie fondue with bread and apple slices. She had a specialty cocktail and I enjoyed a couple of glasses of Nero d’Avola.
Fans of Old Town, with a list of restaurants all across the Valley. Frequent diners, but first time at Second Story. Had high expectations, and expected a great evening. Food, ambiance, drinks all lived up to expectations. Service was so poor it actually became the only topic on the ride home.
Always great. One of our favorites! LOVE THE MEATBALLS!!
Four of us took part in Restaurant Week to try a new place. The service was great and the place is cozy. Our first coarse was fondue with fennel that was out standing, the rest of the meal didn’t have the same wow factor but was good. Overall a nice experience. We would go back for drinks and order from the share part of the menu.
Poor service. We were there for restaurant week. They had two entre to choose from and one entre was and extra $10 dollar upcharge. Took 20 mins just for the appetizer
Have been to Second Story for drinks before but decided to check out their food offerings for Restaurant week. I'd say the results were mixed . Ordered the WTF biscuits in addition to the 3 course menu and they were delicious. Both of our wine choices were disappointing and we felt, at $17 a glass, overpriced. The appetizer course was fine. Unremarkable. We tried both the salmon and fondue. The main course was very tasty. He had the chicken which he said was very tender and flavorful. I had the pasta, which I enjoyed. We were both full by the time sweets came out which was a good thing because both desserts were duds. His bundt cake was dry and over-baked. My "bread pudding" had the consistency of a cookie which I found confusing. The service was exceptional: attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The dark cozy ambience is always on point, though it was almost too loud inside to carry on a conversation. I'd say this is a perfect place to go before you eat elsewhere or for after-dinner drinks. I'd definitely go back, but for cocktails and biscuits only.
Tomahawk steak was not 28 day dry aged as advertised (I can tell, I went to culinary school and was a sous chef in several fine dining restaurants). We questioned it and were presented with another, our guests felt awkward and went with it. There was maybe 16oz of meat on the platter. We were also charged $5 for olives for each martini. What’s that? We asked for that to be removed from the bill and it was. This was our third time dining there and the last.
Great food, great service, awesome view
We go every couple of months and each time we go the food is phenomenal and the drinks are always delicious!
We were a group of 6 on Saturday at 5:00. We chose Second Story after seeing the review on PBS Check Please Arizona. The menu is a bit more limited than I expected but rave reviews from all 6. I personally can vouch for the Big Eye Tuna plate as being extrodinary. Also the fondue appetizer was delicious. Our waitress was hands down the best I’ve experienced anywhere. She was so knowledgeable & spent time chatting, answering our questions & providing tidbits of information. It’s a small venue w/an outstanding bartender. We were welcomed warmly by each person at Second Story. We will be back.
The food and service was AMAZING. From the biscuits, to the falafel and then the steak and pasta
Initially we were excited about experiencing The 2nd Story. All good u til you Alert the server that our lobster is 100% undercooked! Only for her to NOT listen at all and walk away. MOD type person walks up to our table only to let us know sorry (talking to people who did t bite into the raw lobster) that they are busy, Owner is too busy to address this and they need table by 8pm!!!! Wow!! And we live 2 miles from this place! 👎🏽☠️😬
We recently celebrated my birthday here and we could't be happier! The ambiance, staff, cocktails and food were all amazing! Thank you...we will be back!
This was our first time here, and a special night out with new friends. We found the atmosphere to be inviting, not too loud, but a little on the darker side. The decor is eclectic and fun and I would love to know the stories behind some of the pieces!
The menu was excellent, but definitely on the pricey side. 4 drinks alone were nearly $60, but very excellent tasting and a full pour in each cocktail. The food was wonderful. We had two appetizers, the chefs board (full of great meats, cheeses, nuts and picked items), and the pork belly lettuce wraps. The pork was cooked to perfection and not fatty at all! I do wish that we had more than just the four pieces of lettuce though. We went downstairs to the pizza place for dinner.
We will definitely come back, as this was a pleasant time out with friends!
Great ambience for a date. Romantic dimly lit environment and also an outdoor patio. Very pleasing to the eyes and taste buds.
The food is elevated american with creativity and each flavor is inspired. The biscuits are a must!!! Service was good but the Sommelier and dessert chef were beyond fantastic.
Amazing food, great ambiance- a must do in Scottsdale.
Chef Jordano has transformed the menu filled with dishes that are exciting and approachable. Creative. Beautifully presented. Delicious. Service with love. Don’t miss it!
We had reservations for dinner. The hostess left much to be desired. The waitress was fantastic. Very attentive. Menu was limited. So, we had drinks and went across the street to Bourbon & Bones. No reservation, but they fit us in right away without making us feel like they were doing us a favor. Great drinks, service and food. I used to like the 2nd story, but that is no longer one of my choices to go to.
This has become one of our favorite restaurants in our area. My husband is always satisfied with the burger. One of the best in town! I try something different each time. I had the beef shortrib with gnocchi. It was delicious, unfortunately the gnocchi was quite dry. Face the kitchen if you can, always fun things to watch in there. I highly recommend the Lemon with meringue tart.
We met some friends who were in town for dinner & drinks. everything was lovely and delicious. Service was excellent, as well. We will be back.
Great happy hour, and great spot for a date. I would highly recommend Second Story to anyone in the mood for a 'sit and chat' setting.
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at Second Story! The food was excellently prepared. Our waitress was perfectly friendly when we ordered a bottle of wine to share; however, when we shared an appetizer and entree she was clearly annoyed. Portions are large.
Very good food, tremendous, professional service. Pork belly, spicy tuna, and short ribs were excellent, as was the bananas foster dessert. Very fun atmosphere. Quite loud, so probably not great for a romantic dinner. But so what, the place is a ball.
Small menu , so nit a lot of food options. Rude server.
Love this place! Excellent food and a great selection of spirits.
Celebration of engagement
Great experience, great food, great service. It was a little loud and very dark but otherwise it was a very pleasant dining experience. I would definitely return for more.
WOW! Totally worth building our whole "staycation" weekend around. The meal was superb, from start to finish (Get the OMG biscuts, really!!) And the bartender was a true artist. We told the server what we liked and to surprise us. She made up a drink for my husband and it was awesome. We had far too many of them, and since we had rented a room at a nearby hotel, we felt justified. We will do it again, for sure!
This place has been on my list for a while now. The outside patio is small but great for our girls night out. We had a variety of diets in our group from vegan, gluten free, and vegetarian. All were able to find delicious items which we all shared. Our hands down favorite was the WTF gluten free biscuits which the pastry chef made for us from scratch and personally delivered to our table. They was moist, flakey and fantastically delicious! Looking forward to returning soon!
My new favorite spot in Old Town. Can't wait to go back. The salad I had was amazing.
