   Gemütliche Atmosphäre in modernem Ambiente. Man wird als Wiederholungsgast erkannt und sehr freundlich begrüßt. Die Bedienung und die Qualität des Essens nach wie vor 1A.

   Die Speisenkarte ist vielseitig, die Essenszubereitung erfolgt stets frisch, so dass gelegentlich mit kleiner Wartezeit zu rechnen ist, der Service ist aufmerksam, die umfangreiche Weinauswahl, die auch glasweise erhältlich ist, ist beispielhaft und sehr gut. Alles in allem waren wir sehr zufrieden und aßen dort bereits zum zweiten Mal.

   Unfortunately the Head waiter was in a bit of a mood which set the tone for the evening because he appeared to create a lot of tension amongst the staff who did a lot of scurrying around looking busy! The young chap who mainly looked after us saved the day and the food was good but we didn't linger and won't be rushing back.

   We were on holiday in Funchal and were delighted to find Beef and Wines! It was close to our hotel and a really funky place. Loved the decor. The menu was meat based - I had a pork chop and my partner the lamb shank. The garlic roasted potatoes were yummy and portions were good if not over generous. The pork was lovely and the lamb good too if a little on the small side. We shared an apple crumble desert which wasn't very warm but still nice. Wine was good and not too expensive - a good wine list. When we first arrived we were sat next to a large corporate group, which was very noisy. We asked to move further away and the noise level was manageable. The group were lively and there was sporadic singing - if they were not there the restaurant seemed to lack atmosphere. Overall a good reccomendation if in Funchal.

   We were so fortunate to dine in this wonderful restaurant, the best on the island in our opinion. Service is spot on and attentive without being intrusive. My husband, who is a classically trained chef, was absolutely in love with the Jurassic marrow. The food is substantial, creative and beautifully presented. I enjoyed the fresh cheese with traditional Madeiran bread. My only comment here would be that I prefer the garlic bread to have a bit of a toast on it not quite so raw tasting. My husband loves lamb so he had the lamb shank. Thought probably one of the best he had ever eaten. The Grilled Black Iberian Pork tenderloin was amazing but let me not forget dessert. I never eat dessert but the Madeira cake Panna Cotta - oh please I could eat this everyday. The flavor was that of the Honey Cake but so creamy. Not to forget, as the name states, Beef and Wines. The wine list is wonderful with offerings from Madeira Island to California. As a sommelier I do appreciate the time and work that goes into putting together an inclusive list. The bottle prices are reasonable with a selection available for any budget. Do not be put off by the location which is in a strip center because once inside you are transformed to another place. We will dine at Beef and Wines again.

   Staying just round the corner and stumbled across this in the Madeira essential magazine. Gave it a try and soo glad we did excellent steaks and the wine was lovely with a never ending choice to suit everyone Attention to detail is brilliant, hopefully return before flying home.
