   LOVE this restaurant. Fantastic wine list and service. All the dishes besides the steak (which was delicious) are so good.

   When we arrived about 10 minutes late for our reservation, the hostess gave us the stink eye and suggested that we may not be seated. Mind you, at this time of the evening, 3/4 of the tables were empty. After a few more minutes of consternation, she reluctantly seated us. We were told that we could not open our own bottle of wine, even with a corkage fee because the Boeufhaus wine list was so special. We were then served glasses of red wine that tasted as if they came from the cooler of a gas station convenience store. Service was downright rude start to finish. Steaks were ok but overpriced. Highlight of the meal was the salad. Needless to say, we won't be back. Far better options for steak in Chicago.

   Not your traditional steakhouse but one of the best, even though there are so many steak options in the city. Short rib beignets are fantastic and steak tartare is excellent. 55-day aged ribeye is good to share and perfectly cooked, served with great sauces on the side (which you may not need).

   I don't go to steak houses very often, but I'm very glad we went to this one. Started with the pate which was slightly smoky and delightful. My dad got the 55 day aged cut and it was like a good wine. The flavor had a beginning, a middle and an end. Just an interesting experience having never tried aged beef before. I had the New York Strip and it was cooked perfectly. Flavor was very nice and the texture was brilliant. Mushrooms on the side were good as were the leek spaetzle. It seems a bit loud in the room, but not like club loud. Just boisterous people I guess. Come for the steak, you will not be disappointed.

   This was the second time I have visited the restaurant. I was there when it first opened. It was good and wanted to give it another try. Unfortunately, I find it way over priced and the servings too small for the amount paid ($54 for 2 slices of filet - no sides). The music being played was too loud and was more of hard rock in nature. Service was also somewhat slow.

   very expensive for what you get. We ordered the most expensive steak on the menu, aged 55 days and it came sliced up, seemed like some of it was even missing. fries were good. $8 per side everything should be delicious. The mushrooms were greasy.

    My favorite restaurant in Chicago. Food is exceptional - they do what they do at a very high caliber- and the service is at the highest level I've experienced. I also love the mood and vibe of the place. To me the outdoor is unnecessary on that block and doesn't capture the fantastic mood of inside.

    The unpronounceable Boeufhaus was great. Compared to LA dining, with its ridiculously trendy menus and pretentious servers, Boeufhaus offered straight up, no-frills delicious steaks and sides. The lady and I enjoyed the polenta with escargot; creamy, simple polenta topped with a dusting of crunchy snail bits in a tomato sauce. This was followed by a 22 oz. 55-day aged ribeye, which I'm still talking about 4 days later. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and wonderfully substantial. I went a little nuts on the side dishes (roasted mushrooms, cauliflower gratin, and boeuf fat fries) but all were good, despite the fries being a bit soggy. Our waiter was VERY attentive, if a bit pushy about trying to get me to order a drink. Two notes on atmosphere: don't expect it to be quiet on a Saturday night. This should go without saying, but some may expect a more intimate vibe. Nope. Its loud. Secondly, I'm sure the management wasn't expecting 90 degree Chicago heat that night, but they need to figure out their air conditioning. Sweltering inside the restaurant. The flavors and service made up for that though. Would definitely swing by again.

    The food was amazing especially the 55 day aged steak which we split as it was 22oz. The cauliflower gratin was flavorful and we wanted more! The staff was incredibly accommodating would highly recommend.

    Boeufhaus was impeccable! There are so many top-notch steakhouses in Chicago that it has become difficult to find one that sets itself apart. Boeufhaus has accomplished this. It's small, dim and feels exclusive.

    The beef tartare, béarnaise sauce (for the steak frites) and vegetables with the duck were all salty. The duck was overcooked and tough to chew. The brownie dessert was fine and so were the oysters.

    Just had the most amazing meal at Boeufhaus!! The Short Rib Beignets were a perfect start to our meal. Loved the natural jus for dipping. For mains, my husband had a salmon special while I had Steak Frites-- both were well seasoned and delicious. We also had the decadent Cauliflower Gratin, which was over the top -- similar to a rich and creamy mac and cheese. To end our meal we shared the Brown Sugar Boudin. I totally loved this dessert- it was the perfect amount of sweet and crunchy. If you haven't been, you must try this restaurant!!!

    I really wanted to love this place since there has been such a hype. The shortrib beignets which they are known for were surprisingly bland without the dipping sauce. The octopus was extremely dry to the extent that we should have sent it back. The steaks are higher priced than most of the fine dining steakhouses I've been to but they did not deliver. I was expecting one of the best steaks I've had unfortunately I was more impressed by the bordelaise and au poivre that accompanied them. The dessert finished strong with a rye brownie that had the perfect texture and balance.

    From the moment we showed up, the hostess told us we had 1 hour and 15 min to enjoy our meal and then would be asked to move to the bar. we were 15 min late to reservation, because it was heavy traffic from the city. They rushed the entire experience, had to order all at once before we even had been offered a cocktail. The food was over priced and served cold. The waiter came to check on the food long after we had eaten the cold food and seemed unapologetic by the fact that the food was cold. Food was good, but the service and lack of customer appreciation detracted from the food. For that reason, I would not recommend unless they fix their service.

    Can we make geographical restrictions on who is allowed to eat here? How about Logan Square, Bucktown, Wicker Park, Ukrainian Village & West Town zip codes only? That seems fair. Everyone else can eat their beef somewhere else. If things get too good, all I ask is that the owners open a new place in the west loop, name it something else (like "Better than Bavette's"), eliminate the association and let us locals have the finest steakhouse in the city to ourselves.

    Food was great, wine list limited and slightly over priced. Beignet and Soft Shell Crab great, followed by rib eye steak that was cooked perfect with great bordelaise sauce. Service was attentive and prompt. Music selection on the Bauhaus side, a bit too loud, but cool.

    We had the crispy octopus to start and the rillon. Both very good! I had the 55 day aged ribeye and my wife had the filet. Both were done perfectly and very tasty. It is definitely a spot we will return to.

    We ordered the $82 bone-in New York strip cooked medium. It came sliced of the bone cooked rare. We had to send it back not once but twice. Because it was already sliced all the juices were gone upon reheating. It was also full of gristle. I would not go back or recommend this restaurant.

    From the immediate atmosphere of the restaurant when we walked in, we knew we would like the place. It's very laid-back, but it's also immediately clear that you will have a great fine-dining experience. Our server and the other servers who brought out our many rounds of food were all very down-to-earth and incredibly nice. The food was out of this world; we started with what was probably the best charcuterie I've ever had in my life. I could have eaten just that and another appetizer and been satisfied. Do not miss the short-rib beignets, I can't even put into words how delicious they are. We also got the 55-day dry-aged ribeye and I couldn't get enough. We got a bottle of red wine and a small cake for a birthday desert that I wish I could describe. From start to finish, we had an absolutely amazing time. The price is spot on for the quality of food and service. I literally have no complaints and if I could give it an extra star I would. I can't wait to come back.

    Liked the atmosphere quite a bit; good music, nice decor. Food wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped, but it certainly wasn't bad. I didn't really care for any of the beef dishes (including the much-praised beignets---they were really dry), but the side dishes and vegetables were tasty, especially the cauliflower gratin. That dish was terrific. Meal was well-paced, and the service was top notch. Delicious drinks, too!

    Fantastic food and terrific service. FInally a steakhouse for people who care about the sides as much as they care about their steak. Also, it was great to have a "steakhouse" version of aged bone-in ribeye that was also grass fed and not factory raised, fed only corn, etc. My only critique that comes in the form of question is this: couldn't this be a little bit less expensive? Maybe the steak: no? But I wonder if they couldn't lighten up on the prices of some of the apps and other items to make up for the likely necessary price on the beef. Maybe not - I'll go back either way but not as often as I might if I could sense that it was a better value. Fantastic spot, though. Don't get me wrong!

    Middle of the road starters, USDA (i.e. Outback quality) choice NY strip at prime prices, outstanding duck breast, incredible service from Paul, terrible desserts. I generally expect more when I spend $250 for 2 on 3 courses and a couple drinks.

    I love both lunch and dinner- but you cannot beat the incredible deal at lunch! The sandwiches and the BURGER (off-menu item) are so delicious, as well as the salads and other non-beefy items. You won't find a better wine or beer selection in the hood, especially for lunch!! Service and ambience are right where they should be. We are constantly trying to plan our next visit.

    Always a wonderful experience! The short rib beignets are a favorite along with the leek spaetzel, filet and cauliflower gratin. We love the house Cab Franc and whatever the server suggests is always a win.
