Barley & Board, Downtown Denton's first brewpub restaurant, is coming to the historic Downtown Square. Located on the Northeast corner of 'The Square', B&B resides in the location where the Lacy Hotel once stood. The original brick interior walls have carefully been excavated and brought back to life to help tell the story of Denton's past, while creating an environment, which the restaurant sits in perfectly. The restaurant's fare, led by Executive Chef Chad Kelley, will be that of a 'New American Cuisine', offering an array of small and large plates , while the full bar includes 36 beers on tap highlighting Texas breweries, including the in-house brews, and an assortment of craft cocktails and wines.

This was my second trip and I was very excited to introduce a new place to my inner circle. I raved about the Brussels sprouts which were amazing and tried the Bleu cheese chips also incredible. Where the meal fell short was in variety for kids. No tenders which would have been a great help and my Gnocchi was terrible. Dry and very difficult to eat . My wife had the shrimp meal which I recommended from my last visit. She was impressed and I’m glad. They need more menu options and to replace the gnocchi for sure. Besides that for the environment I’ll come back again and the appetizers are great.

Ehhhh for a date night not the best place for us. We sort of got forgotten and then it was just downhill from there. Food was good, but that’s about it. Sorry guys. We will stay in Flower Mound and not attempt to drive through all the Denton potholes just for this place.

Thankfully Barley & Board continues to provide excellent service and quality food. Our reservation was for 830 but we were able to be seated early (and the noise level wasn't as loud). The hits for the evening were the gnocchi and the burger!

A most unfortunate evening. The Host/Manager spilled a class of wine on my husband and me accidentally. They brought over lots of napkins and said at least it was white wine. Surprisingly there was nothing offered to my husband and me to make up for this. There was no offer to reimburse me for our dry cleaning (for my husband: camel hair blazer, cashmere vest, jeans and shirt and me: trousers, sweater and camel hair cape) or comp dinner or dessert as it would have been much appreciated. Instead I had to “tell” the waitress very nicely that at a minimum they should comp my wine. The waitress was lovely however the host/manager avoided us the plague since he was embarrassed. To date this has been my only unpleasant experience at Barley & Board and as such I plan to be back with 6 colleagues for dinner on Monday 3/16. I am counting on a better experience.

Food has always been great! The service is hit or miss, I’ll have a flawless brunch one weekend and another one with 75% of items being wrong.

The server had too many tables to handle. The martinis were cool not cold. The special wasn’t all that great. The boards are really good. The nose level was extremely loud

I don’t get weekends off all that much being in the service industry and was supremely excited to be able to attend brunch at your location! Your staff was wonderful and the food as well. Unfortunately I didn’t get any of the names of the wonderful people who helped but they were all great!

Made a reservation over a month before. Arrived early and walk ins were seated before us. Hostesses seemed overwhelmed. Other than that amazing time and great food. Loved the shrimp and grits!

It’s advertised as a gastro pub but in reality it’s very hipster-y and to try-hard to be different. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant but there was no dress code apparently for the wait staff and they forgot to take our order forgot one of the drinks ordered and The waitress would awkwardly just stand at our table just to chat or something...like me and the wife were trying to have our valentines date and get like we were being third wheeled. I thought it was over priced for the quality. I’ve had a better steak and a place like Applebee’s or Texas Roadhouse and more quantity and really crunchy straw fries??? not even real fries.

The food and drinks were great. It was so very loud! My wife and I were yelling at each other to be heard. I do not recommend for a date. My ears were ringing afterward.

We went for brunch. Our service was super super slow and the frittata was cold and rubbery by the time it got to the table. The other two people had there meals 5 min before my meal was delivered. We ordered an appetizer that took 25 minutes to get to our table. I have eaten there at dinner without any complaints. However I brought a friend from out of state for brunch and had to repeatedly apologize to her regarding the meal!

Parents celebrated 53rd anniversary. Everyone was so welcoming and expressed their congratulations. They enjoyed their meal of a mother board, each had hangar steak and complimentary cookie board and a staff signed card. Nice extra touch. Great night at a favorite place.

Really loved the environment, great drink options, and the service was unparalleled! The portions are large, so can easily be shared. The gnocchi is fabulous and I would highly recommend! Some of our other dishes were mediocre, such as the risotto and pesto sandwich, but the other factors overshadowed that. Get the bread pudding for dessert!

I went for lunch last Saturday with my family and was extremely impressed by the excellent service and the friendliness of everyone who worked there! that helped to make our experience very enjoyable! I love the menu and the quality of the food is excellent! I highly recommend Barley & Board!

We had a great brunch at Barley & Board. They have a great drink menu and the food was delicious. We were 30 minutes late (inclement weather made us late for a prior appointment which made us late for brunch) but they were very accommodating.
