Ordered a Guinness beer and it was hslf full...not good value...service very slow.
Our server was fabulous from her initial greeting to our final dismissal!
The food arrived in a very timely fashion, and was delicious!
Highly recommend Trattoria Gusto
When booking a seat, knowing whether you are seated in the bar or in dining room would have been appreciated. We were told that we were assigned to the bar area when we arrived. I was not happy and was reseated in dining room with much chagrin from hostess.🙁
We are always pleased with whatever we order here. The food is served in a timely manner and is served by great staff.
Food was excellent, service was attentive, prices were good.
Good food, attentive staff. Room is a bit noisy, about par for most places (alas). But overall this is a lovely place to enjoy a good meal with good people.
Ambiance warm, food delicious, service friendly - worth our day trip to Port Hope.
There are two sections to this restaurant - a bar area with screens showing sports, and a cozier area without screens. We got seated in the bar area (we had made a reservation) but as we were celebrating an anniversary, we didn't particularly want sports playing in the background. We asked to be moved to the cozier section and were accommodated quite quickly. Dinner was yummy!
Friday evening dinner get-together with friends. Great atmosphere and fabulous food with tons of flavor. It was our first time there and I will definitely return.
Always excellent service and good food. Lovely patio on the river too.
braised beef on pizza is a wonderful creation! creamy sauce with onion & mushrooms, fresh veggies made it so decadent
We hadn't been to the Waddell in a few years so I was hoping it would be as good as I remembered. It definitely was! We were celebrating my husband's birthday. Our server was professional but also extremely witty and made sure our teenage son enjoyed himself as they discussed the filming locally of a well-known movie. The food was well-prepared, the ambience was as we remembered. It was a cool evening and the French doors were open allowing flies in which was a little distracting: trying to keep them off one's meal. The server even surprised my husband with a birthday dessert on the house. We will definitely continue to return for special occasions.
Very nice surroundings, good food and service, nice location
Drove in from Toronto to see a play at the Capitol. I will definitely return! The bruschetta was to die for and those scallops were grilled to perfection. Thank you!
A bit disappointing this visit. The restaurant was very hot. Son’s pizza was bland. Large beet salad wasn’t really that large for a meal potion, though very good. Normally we love to eat here.
Not sure why but our meal, both appetizers and main courses, took forever to be served. We had a 1:00 luncheon reservation and weren’t done until approx 4:15. Food was very good, service was friendly but there were no real apologies for the delays. We’ll come back and hopefully have a better customer experience next time.
My favourite food, ambience and service. Gusto has never disappointed!
Didn't like the selection on the menu, found it lacking. To many vegetarian and gluten free options. Menu seemed too basic and not authentic. Expected better quality food for the vibe I got from the website and resturant environment. Value was good for what we got. Great bar and service!
Sat on patio, beautiful day. Food was great.
Had indicated it was a special occasion when I booked (29th wedding anniversary).
But no mention of it from service staff which was slightly disappointing.
Would I go back?...... probably.
It was our first date and it was perfect. We will come back
I had dinner at Trattoria Gusto with my daughter who is working at the Capitol Theatre earlier in the week. Service was terrific, our meal was delicious and our waitstaff was very personable. Based on that experience, our family of four had dinner here on Saturday evening after coming to Port Hope to see the performance. We enjoyed our meals and overall experience - and had the same warm personable woman as our waitstaff. We will be back!
great food and portions. It is definately the chef that keeps people returning. Waitresses could use a little more training.
The meal was excellent and the wait staff could not have been more attentive. A terrific spot for an intimate dinner for two or a larger crowd. I do recommend this venue.
First time diners and will certainly be back. The service was outstanding as was the food.
A good spot to bring friends for brunch or lunch, especially in summer when we usually get a table on the terrace. Service is always good and the staff very pleasant and accommodating.
All good but we ate outside and the flies were bad and it detracted from our experience. Maybe they could try to set some traps or something to reduce the flies. Everything else was good.
Lovely river view from the patio. Vintage ambience inside. Friendly staff. Fresh food. What more can you ask for?
the food was very tasty, but the kitchen was overwhelmed with only 1/2 the restaurant being seated. daily specials were not available & kitchen service was very slow, but waitress was very sweet and apologetic.
Accommodating staff. Great views of the town. Perfect patio atmosphere.
Food was amazing. Waitresses very polite. Going to go again.
We day trip to Port Hope several times a year and almost always have lunch at Trattoria Gusto. Our food was delicious, the dining room is lovely and our server was delightful. We look forward to our next visit.
Very hot and uncomfortable. The air conditioning was on but the door to the outside patio was open most of the time which let the hot air in. Penne with vegetables was 98 percent penne. Extremely over priced and just okay tasting. It was the same price of a glass of wine. $17. The olive oil dip for the bread had gone off and had to be replaced. All four of us said we would never be back. Lovely building and the bread was excellent but that’s it.
We made reservation since we had theatre tickets for matinee. We had great service and lots of time to have our lunch, did not feel rushed, the restaurant was busy but that didn't seem to matter.
Our food choices, mussels, pasta and salad with roasted portabello mushrooms were excellent.
We will certainly try to come back.
Thank you for a wonderful dining experience for my husband and I on our "anniversary". We wanted to experience a restaurant that we had never gone to before and this restaurant was recommended to us by a few friends. We were very pleased to see that the restaurant and staff were very knowledgeable concerning my husband's gluten allergy (celiac) and tried to find/suggest alternatives for him. This was truly a great dining treat for us as a couple. The waiter was very friendly, helpful and communicated with us on a personal level as the evening continued -- just the right amount of conversation too! Thank you again!
Stopped in her for lunch before catching a matinee at the Capitol Theatre. Food was wonderful, dining room cool and classy, service caring and prompt. A terrific pre-theatre choice in Port Hope.
Delicious, relaxed, and remarkable
From service to chef
Couldn’t ask for a better evening dining al fresco, alongside the rolling Ganaraska
Thank you so much for the experience
Drove an hour to attend for my boyfriend's birthday. Our second visit. Food was good. The waitress made the occasion. The patio is awesome.
Very nice menu, excellent service, and a very enjoyable evening.
We had a wonderful time with friends and good food, conversation and ambience—all of us enjoyed our time here!
I go to Gusto whenever I can! I used to think it was expensive, but then I went to a few other popular chain restaurants (Milestones, Casey's, even Lone Star, etc) and realized that for the quality of the food and the atmosphere (especially on the patio by the river) it's actually borderline cheap. Just be prepared to want to order several things... And take advantage of the complimentary crusty toasty bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar! I'm drooling just thinking about it.
