Food, when it arrived was good enough for an up scale place but, alas, the service was at best spotty. Plates came out after long waits without any regard to pacing. Appetizers followed Mains, or never showed up. The server was overwhelmed and mostly absent.
Management stepped in to salvage it with no help from the kitchen.
It’s not unreasonable to expect this place, which has enjoyed a good run, to be consistent with a polished service to match the food.
There are plenty of places to dispose of your disposable income. I say dispose of it elsewhere.
This place was fantastic to celebrate my birthday. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great and the staff was perfect! I highly recommend this place.
The staff from the front door to the bus staff were friendly, helpful, and well informed about the food choices. The natural light set off the attractive room decorated with pumpkins and fall colors. The stuffed squash blossoms were a big hit with all of us. The charred octopus on a bed of bortolli beans was perfectly cooked, tender, and tasty. The lamb chops were also outstanding. The gnocci dish was a bit bland. The fried doughnuts with caramel sauce sent everyone into moans of joy. They were a splendid ending to a delicious meal.
We enjoyed the food, ambiance and low noise level, it was a Thursday. Service tried but needed training. When asked what the white wine from northern Italy was like, the waiter looked surprised and said “ I don’t know “ and then said “ I liked it.
The lamb chop was the best !so tender so tasty
Appetizers are great , unfortunately the risotto did not come up with my expectation it was so bland , no taste at all , pastas are ok , good wine selection and most of all great service great ambiance !!
Service was spotty. Dessert and coffee just dropped on the table without regard for who ordered it. When brought to the attention of the server was given attitude.
place was nice. Great vibe. Bruschetta had pork belly, which I was excited about. But it turned out that it was sliced pork belly (looked like sliced ham) and not the fatty juicy kind that you usually see. Pasta and risotto were both very rich for my taste. We ordered an appetizer that wasn't on the menu because we saw it on the table next to us. It was like a pureed garbanzo beans flatbread. Really good, but I wish it was on the menu or the waiter/waitress had told us about it. For dessert, we got the gelato and a chocolate mouse tart (or something like that). Both were good. The pistachio gelato was the best I ever had. I wish we had ordered a fish entree and a salad, and will go again just to try that.
Service wasn't great. Again, I wish the waiter/waitress had told us more about the menu, or made suggestions. The waiter/waitress hardly checked on us and seemed annoyed at the job.
I would go again for drinks and to try more on the menu.
This place never disappoints! Amazing food! Amazing Service!
Portions are extemely small. Too pricey. Moderate presentation for price of food. I've tried both dinner and lunch and they are pretty much the same in portions. Not sure if I would come back.
great food, our servdr picked out our entire meal and our wine, look forward to next visit.
Service was very slow. Food was very fair. Limited menu. Brought my salad after my main course Wine was a very small pour. Won’t go back
have been to Officine Brera several times and enjoyed the dinner a great deal. However, this last time was very disappointing. The service was weak, e,g., brought the food but no utensils on the table. The salad was tasteless, and main dishes missed the mark. We brought family and friends this last time and they also thought not the best of restaurants in the area. Have second thoughts about ever going back. The owners were on vacation so so no one to oversee the food or service. Francine needs to investigate the substandard dining experience.
Such tasty food!!!! We celebrate a birthday with the best food and the most delicious wine! Highly recommend the steak, lamb, and pork shank....but everything we had was exceptional!!!
Disappointing service. The food was okay but could not pass with the service
Service was attentive and friendly. Great space, hip, able to accommodate small and large parties, comfortable chairs. Great food in decent shareable portions.
Great service and beautiful space.
The size of the venue and its decor are really great.
The only reason it gets 4 stars overall is that we found the prices to be way to high. Especially for the wine. Standard wine bottle is significantly above $100. They either should take less margin on those or provide cheaper options. You are looking at $90pp for 2 glasses of wine and a main each and maybe a shared starter. I would value it at $60.
Great for large groups though!
I have been here once before, and loved the food, but this time, two out of the three items we ordered were lackluster or not prepared well (almost like an experiment with one of the dishes). Hard to say if I would recommend it to someone now, or if I would return, as there are so many awesome options in LA. The service was solid, the Somm was...fine...she just didn't make us feel comfortable.
Absolutely wonderful, a go to for business meetings - quiet, great ambiance, excellent service. Well worth the drive for anyone if you're not in the Arts District
Always good, but yesterday’s lunch entrees (there were 3 in our party) were outstanding. Definitely will return with family!
Our waitress was friendly, but the hostess was incredibly rude as was the guy who brings the coffee. The food was flavorless and was completely different than the menu on Open Table. Bread gnocchi...yuck! The "bruschetta" was two small pieces of bread with bland beef cheek - hardly a tomato on the plate. Very limited menu - not one poultry dish or fileted fish. They also kept getting our drink order wrong. Great space but hard to have a conversation because of the accoustics. I really wanted to like this restaurant - so sad and disappointing.
2nd time dining here. Always teriffic. Great staff, great food!
Branzino had to many bones and scales. Beef cheeks were fantastic
This is always a good restaurant to go to, excellent food, exceptional service, can't recommend it enough!
Second time we’ve been here. The entrees were excellent. So cohesive and flavorful. The small plates is where it was lacking for us, the squash blossoms were amazing. But the panzanella Salad was overly soggy and the bread had disintegrated to nothing. The pepperoncini were super fried and were so cooked that they were also mushy and it felt like it needed more aioli and hazelnut. But still love coming here, we will be back but maybe next time we will do al mains!
Great food with a diverse menu for all tastes. The service was excellent and drinks at the bar before hand were well crafted. The noise level was lively but still easy to hold a conversation. The wine list had a good variety and range of prices, markup was reasonable.
Great environment and food. They seemed understaffed, as a result, we sat with food and no plates or cutlery, until we got up and asked for a some. The waiter handed it to us in the middle of the restaurant (rather than brought). In general, they need to better train their staff.
Truly wonderful service and exceptional food, what else can you want!
Great bar and unique cocktails to with its outstanding Italian dishes
Worth trekking all the way to the industrial part of LA!! Great food and great ambiance, spacious, comfortable, easy parking...definitely a winner!
Birthday and Emmy nomination celebration
Food was poor. This was an expensive restaurant and I can get better Italian food at the much cheaper restaurant in my neighborhood. This restaurant was all style, no substance. It was very telling that when we asked the waiter to recommend the best items on the menu, he did not seem very excited about any of them.
Great overall experience.
Dinner was nice - if you’re looking for traditional Italian food, this may not be the spot for you. I think we may have been expecting more traditional Italian food so we weren’t 100% satisfied, but the food we ate was cooked well and was presentable. A little disappointed that we came for a birthday celebration and indicated it on our reservation but nothing was mentioned upon arrival or throughout our meal.
Overall it was nice, but probably will not return.
I love the ambiance of Officine.. They maintained many of the warehouse elements including the high ceiling with the sky lights and north window wall. Having a conversation was easy. The menu is very interesting and we found many dishes to share. . All of the dishes were delicious and flavorful. After dinner, the Som took us next door to see the new Pizza kitchen.. I believe it was just opened. We want to go back and try it as well.
The waitstaff was professional. No 'I'm Bill and I'll be your server tonight." Questions were answered, and recommendations offered only when requested. We were one of the first couples seated, and we liked how new diners were seated so we were not overcrowded.
Great food, excellent service! We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our meal.
From the Factory Kitchen to Officine Brera, these people are doing a great job. We return again and again and are simply dazzled with delicious food!
I suggest the everyone within driving and plane distance give it a go when in downtown LA.
Nothing special. Expected food to be great given their reputation AND the prices. But NOTHING stood out, the food was simply edible.
