Meals aren’t about trends, shock value, or opulence.
Meals are about moments, memories and those who surround you at your table.
We believe in the complexity of simplicity, and the power of pure flavors. Our histories, vast and varied, deserve to be memorialized and romanticized by dishes that at once remind us of home and transport us to somewhere new.
We don’t make food for everyone else, we make food for you.

Everything was delicious! The marinated shrimp had so many layers of flavors - the conch croquettes had a perfect crispy crust and a nice creamy filling. Great drinks and service as well! Definitely recommend
Pretty unique menu. Well done. Good service. Pricey bit goid
It was unreal! The service was outstanding! The biscuits and butter are the best ! We loved everything!
fantastic top tier meal in nola
apps, starters, entrees were all outstanding
marinated shrimp with jalapeno jus
whipped riccota cheese
jerk butternut squash
each dish was awesome
no weak link!!
food was fantastic
mixed drinks were great
can’t go wrong with this restaurant!!
This was an excellent lunch. The cheese-chive biscuits with bacon butter and honey butter are fantastic. A special of the day - a pork tenderloin sandwich, with the tenderloin cooked so it was still pink and slice very thin - was very tasty. The fries were fantastic. Dessert left a little something to be desired; flavors were good but the texture of the "panna cotta" was more like a cake. Perhaps it was intended to be a budino, but the texture was still off. Service was very good.
Birthday dinner and everything wow’d our table. Food, service, sommelier, etc was excellent!
Good overall, wife had red snapper (delicious), it had duck, little dry, should have been de-boned B4 serving. Marinated shrimp tasty but, take a breath mint afterwards. Waitress knowledgeable, to a fault. She had had same questions about a never changing menu and it was evident. Ambiance was excellent, think was overpriced for quality of food.
Loved the chicken!
I spent a lovely evening with a few folks enjoying food, fun and friendship in an atmosphere that encouraged adventure. We all had different items and shared with each other. We all laid claim to the best dish, but the goat curry was tops in my mind. A small, well developed menu was complimented by local cocktails and a wine list with many jewels in it. Decisions were difficult, but every one was rewarded. The service was great and we lingered long. A worthwhile visit, by all measures.
We ate here for dinner while on vacation in NOLA. Service was impeccable. The food, from the delicious biscuits served upon sitting to the dessert was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and knew the menu inside-out. Overall an excellent meal.
This was my first time in for Brunch and everything was great. Our hostesses and server were attentive and very pleasant. I even got a personal escort to the preferred ladies room. The food was out of this world. I did not miss eggs benedict at all, lol. The brulleed Grapefruit was a huge hit with my date (his first time at the restaurant) and the look on his face when he bit into the French Toast was amazing!!
We were getting ready to leave Nola having had a terrific 21st birthday for my beautiful niece. It was a great finisher to the trip.
At first we were a bit bummed there was no lunch menu on Sunday but it didn’t stop us from having a fabulous second breakfast. I ordered the Avocado toast. It was awesome. Not boring at all. I should have just ordered that bc it was a big portion. I also ordered the French toast. Good Lord, it was good! I should have gotten coffee, but I had a Bloody Mary my brunch staple. The staff there was the coolest sweetest people ever. Great time!
The food and service were impeccable. We enjoyed several items, but the goat curry and the pepper pot stood out. The Cobia was also a must try. We did not have a bit we did not enjoy!
I had high expectations that were immediately crushed by the unsmiling and somewhat hostile reception at the desk. Service at the table was perfunctory and the food was just OK though my desert was creative and delicious. The verdict from my group was that there are many better options in New Orleans.
Service was downright excellent. The ambiance was great; love the vibe in this spot. We had brunch & the food was all very good but not mind blowing. It’s priced moderately for the fare and they have a very good wine list. We will certainly return. One of the best newer restaurants in the city for sure.
Great space , creative food- wonderful service...nicely priced wine list... happy to return
Amazing service. Great food!
We loved it and the service was excellent I don’t have anything else to say
Great apps, best handcrafted cocktails. Entree pasta w clams and shrimp to salty to eat, but the others items made up for this single misstep.
Excellent service and mind blowing food.
It's not often one goes to a restaurant and can honestly say that all the food presented during the meal gives the diner a unique taste experience. Fabulous food at Compere Lapin in New Orleans. Portion sizes very much fine dining - which suited us very well. I would, however, caution people who do not like spicey food or are trying to dine well on a low budget - but that's not the point!!
Never disappoints. Staff and food awesome. Champagne always ice cold. They remember your name.
Everything on the menu was perfectly spiced and seasoned. We were a table of 4 and shared several items. We all enjoyed everything.
We had recommendations to eat here and was so disappointed.
Second time here. Four of us had a pre-theater dinner recently. Two of us were to be described as picky eaters. The menu is very limited and not favorable for the food "traditionalists." (No steak & potatoes, etc). The reviews of Compere hype it a lot and include it in New Orleans top 10 restaurants. Our perspective from this dinner was------it's good and unique, but a "niche" restaurant. The food is Caribbean. The choices are that/ We had the pasta & clams, the goat stew and a shrimp dish, along with the coquettes and fried pig ear. All were good but not exceptional. I couldn't eat here too frequently because of the limited choices. The restaurant has that hip vibe to it and is probably more of that than substance. The copper rabbit drinks are unique and the bar has a seasoned staff. I would say Compere Lapin should be tried, but there are better choices for true New Orleans cuisine.
Exceptional. Such a great blend of flavors. Excellent wine pairings. Waiter, Cory, on his game superb recommendations. A must!
Great overall experience. I recommend it. Definitely going back.
Our server was top notch
Service was very slow. Upon arriving, I had to wait about 15 minutes for my table despite a reservation. On top of that, my server didn't come for another 20 minutes. My water was never refilled in my tiny 8 oz glass and was charged 5 dollars for water. The food was great and packed a lot of flavor. I would go for the food, but only on a less busy day.
Food was amazing. Great Caribbean flavors. The Caribbean pepper pot and the snapper are a must. The only miss was the soursup semifreddo, which was lacking in soursup flavor. However, despite that greatly enjoyed the dining experience here.
Absolutely stunning food & drink. Every single bite and sip, Glorious.
I was a bit disappointed that one of the signature dishes was not available. Server was not very friendly. Manager was fabulous. On the pricey side for what you get.
Visiting from Florida for the first time and decided to give it a try based on recommendations of our friends who have previously been here. Loved everything about it. Ambiance service and food was absolutely amazing. Kim took a really good care of us! Definitely will be back and recommend this place to everyone !
We had dinner at the place by recommendation.. ordered several dishes : small, main and sides and they all were over salted and had cilantro as seasoning.this is not what we expected. but the most diss appointments are from the servant who was servise the food.. First, she complained she was there since morning, second she was rude, she crashed the plate right by our table and never apologized. I would be ok with these if it would be some... burger joint. Definitely not my favorite of all places in NOLA
Great food in a central location. Each dish was well prepared and inventive. Great southern cuisine and hospitality. Several choices to bring you back for more fun. Spicey food is available, but the quality of the food is not dependent solely on spice. For the price, compares with the best places I’ve been. You will leave with a smile on your face.
Compere Lapin has established itself among the very good newer style restaurants of NOLA. Cocktail program is solid, wine list is good, service is on point, and the food delivers.
