   A steakhouse that maintains a nice dress code while playing loud, obnoxious pop radio hits is a cheesy place to dine if you’re paying the price tag of an elegant dinner. Never again.

   So we were put at a table in the bar that was exceedingly hot and uncomfortable, and despite efforts to improve that it stayed pretty uncomfortable the entire dinner. I was sweating the entire dinner. The French onion soup was very good but my steak was a little below average at best. It was cooked properly, but they didn’t prepare it properly because I had requested that they cut it as per their pictures and that was not done. The steak itself was tough, a lot of gristle, not very flavorful. I did report that to the waitress, but nothing was done to improve the fact that the steak wasn’t very good. The other people in my party did enjoy their dinner, so I might have simply received a bad cut/bad steak. The waitress was pleasant, and the service was good. Considering the price, I do not recommend this restaurant based off of the environment and a Steak that did not live up to the price.

   Steak and wine were excellent, although one did have to be sent back for being drastically overcooked. the “lobster” mac and cheese tasted worse than the store bought version. I honestly think Kraft is better than what they served. I did not taste even a hint of lobster. And to top it off it was $40.

    Outrageously overpriced mediocre food. Surprised they did not charge for the toothpicks on the way out (no mints!). Coffe came out 15 mins after deserts (unbelievable). Staff is all over people. The most confusing menu and ordering I’ve ever experienced. Find some place else.

    I should've known Mother's Day dinner would be a hot, buttered smothered, covered mess as soon as we were seated downstairs by the bathroom in a cramped table. Feeling safe, grounded and in a good , healthy space is so important. Next, our server didn't identify herself, which was red flag number two. The basement we were seated in was empty, yet the gostess seated a loud couple right next to us. After that, I was done. We were already earing our soggy ceaar salad, and we paid for that and our drinks and left. I was able to get a reservation at Ocean Prime for later thank God! Awful service!!!! While the server was just enough nice, they weren't really interested in making sire we were comfortable. I do not recommend eating here.

    Best meal of my life…no need to bore with regular details. The things I noticed: I asked for my NY strip medium it came to the table medium rare and I was slightly surprised that an expensive steakhouse would get this wrong. But what I missed was the genius of serving the steak on a hot plate. As the steak came pre cut I just spread it over the plate and by the time I served my sides the steak was absolute perfection! I just continued to flip the medallions for a few moments and that worked perfectly! We were therefor Mother’s Day so I feel speaking anything to service isn’t being fair. The butter cake is the best thing I’ve ever had! It’s worth a solo trip IMO. I would skip the Mac and cheese - not enough bechamel sauce with cheese roux. It was quite dry. The spinach was delightful and well seasoned. My husband said the crab cake gave him goosebumps lol 😆

    We LOVE Mastros but things were different for Mother’s Day… our waiter was very “flustered”; somewhat overwhelmed it seemed and spoke very loudly. We were spoiled in the past because we would be able to order one martini and end up with almost two servings because they’d leave the shaker with us tableside. They’re only one glass full now. Lastly, we used to love their steak more than Ruth Chris but my 22oz bone-in ribeye was more than half fat and undercooked. With 2 little ones we didn’t have the time or desire to send it back. Oh! How can I forget that a guest had an “accident” on the carpet near our table… which was just ignored by the staff until I reported it. That definitely ruined my appetite. It seems our next celebration will be at Ruth’s. They’re very consistent, which is what we used to think of Mastros. Very disappointing.

    The restaurant was too dark in the dining area. We could not see the menu. Wished the lighting on the table was brighter. The bar area was a bit too crowded because it was hard to get thru to the restrooms. Also wished the menu had pasta option. Enough of the negative lets talk about the positive. The shrimp cocktail had a awesome presentation. The baked chicken and brussels sprouts were cooked too perfection. My partner loved the baked potato with many toppings. The steak was cooked to his liking. He said the henessey side car he had was the best he has tasted.

    Excellent menu and service. We had nine people in our group and everything that we ordered was fantastic. You won't go wrong be eating at Mastro's. This applies to those located in AZ, Vegas, and DC.

    The decor is stunning and the atmosphere is great. We felt the service was rushed, the warm bread came out when we had menus on the table so by the time we’d finished deciding what to eat the bread was cold. The steaks come out on a hot plate, which is always a great spectre, however the steaks over cooked on the underneath side, which I had to cut off - disappointing when you pay so much for it. Very surprised others haven’t mentioned this in their reviews… They do not offer any steak sauces, we were only offered A1 sauce, which is very disappointing, definitely missed having a sauce with my steak, especially as the underside is was dry. The fries were $15 and enough for 3+ people but no option for smaller portion for less people. Overall the decor was lovely, service friendly but felt rushed, salad was tasty, steaks were good but became over cooked and dry on the underside, didn’t feel like looking as the desert menu or staying for coffee as the evening didn’t quite hit the mark. The restaurant is pricey and for this price would expect better. It was a nice experience but given there’s so many other options in Washington DC I wouldn’t recommend to others and wouldn’t return.

    Took 6 people out for a business dinner, it was a Sunday night and only about 1/3 full. After a full 30 minutes, I asked to talk to the manager and explained that we had not been helped except for bread on the table. While the manager was super helpful and basically acted as our waiter, the actual simply refused to serve us. I would not expect this at a restaurant positioned to be as high-end as Mastros. It really cast a shadow on the event. With all of the other high-end steakhouses in the area, there is really no reason to have to put up with disgruntled employees.

    Excellent food and service as always. The bone in filet was outstanding as was the Chilean sea bass! The only pseudo complaint I would have is that the recipe for the lobster bisque seemed to have changed a bit. I remember when there was nearly a whole lobster tail in the bisque but now, not so much. But all in all, another fine visit.

    It was my son’s 21st birthday and he had an amazing time. Steak is his favorite food and he ordered the bone in Ribeye and loved it. The server was very professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. We will definitely be going back and will recommend to friends and family.

    We were sat really close between two other tables so not an intimate setting we would have liked. The waiter only talked to my Boyfriend, asked questions, checked in. Did not ask for my drink order until 30 minutes in and my boyfriend had to order for me. It was my boyfriend’s birthday and I was paying for the dinner so I found it really offensive that he assumed he needs to cater to the man and totally ignore me. We got the twin tail lobster and 20 oz ribeye to split. The steak was really good. Could not eat the lobster it was over seasoned and dry.

    We had great service, but everything else was just ok. Preparations were not listed on the menu and after several questions for the waiter I realized that’s because there were no special seasonings or flavors. Everything was simply roasted or grilled, including the plain Brussel sprouts. Had to send a steak back that was not the correct temperature. For the price it should be great, and it’s just not. Other local steakhouses deliver on that for less $.
