   This is the third pre theatre luncheon we have scheduled....we love this restaurant! Lovely selections for the three course fixed price menu....can never decide! All choices so yummy! Owner always walks around greeting everyone. Just love this place!

   WOW! The food from start to finish was excellent, with ample portions. The wine list was excellent. The service was outstanding! The servers were extremely helpful with our selections and superb with attention to detail and service, but what really set them apart from other establishments was the personality, congeniality, and conversation. When we were done, our group of 7 either got hugs or hearty handshakes of gratitude from the servers. It felt like we were at a good friend's home and it was saddening to leave. I heartily recommend a nice dinner at Ocean Cut. You deserve it!

   My husband and I love Chicago cut so we thought we'd give ocean cut a try. We were taking to our table by a young boy, this through off the night. For a high quality restaurant why would a young boy act as the hottest specially on a Saturday night. The food was good for me but my husband steak was over cooked and not like how they are made at Chicago Cut as your menu described. Overall, we were unhappy with our experience and will stick with going to Chicago Cut.

   Best lunch deal in the city that I have discovered to this point. A $25 prefixe meal with 3 huge portions and tons of options. Innovative and perfectly cooked appetizer, main, and dessert. My crab cake could have been a meal all by itself, then I had the blackened tuna sandwich crunch and spicy on the outside warm yet still raw inside! Was so full I could not do justice to the blueberry / cardamom ice cream.

    Food is a rip off and totally not worth the price. You are better off going to a suburban steak house like Chicago Prime, Jameson or a seafood place like Bob Chins. Those places’ food are at least 10x better than Ocean Cut. The service is solid and the ambiance is classy, but again, not worth it. Here are my positives/negatives on Ocean Cut Positives: professional service, my friend didn’t like her cocktail, so the server, without hesitation apologized and offered to bring another one. My group wanted to go somewhere classy/trendy but not over the top fancy, and this fit the bill. That’s it for positives: Negatives: Food, food food! Want me to get specific? Ok I will. Portions suck. My friend ordered a crab cake appetizer, and no joke, it was one hockey shaped crab cake. Was the taste out of this world? More like, out of a freezer. Bland, poorly seasoned, gross. The bread at red lobster is a billion times better. I ordered a $49 Chilean sea bass. I know sea bass is pricey, so the price didn’t bother me. It wasn’t tasty at all. The “Japanese fruit” or whatever the hell they put with the fish was tough and hard to chew. Fish was not tender, and just, for lack of a better word, sucked. **bottom line, save your money and parking headache time and do not come here. If you want quality food from a steakhouse/seafood restaurant, go to Chicago prime, Jameson or Bob Chins. Hell, even go to red lobster. They are considerably better. I do not recommend this place to my friends, co workers, or family.**

    Everything about Ocean Cut is exquisite and excellent - the food, decor, service - all above and beyond. This was my third time here for the prix fixe lunch and all three times have been wonderful!

    The food was too expensive for what you receive. Lobster Mac and cheese was missing cheese...sauce. Beet salad had no lettuce and was swimming in dressing. Dover Sole was just okay. All and all just okay. Will I return, probably not.

    We chose this restaurant because we wanted to try a seafood restaurant we hadn’t been to and located near our hotel. Occasion was weekend getaway for my husbands birthday. We arrived a few minutes early and was seated at the bar while we waited for our table. The bartender was super friendly and helpful. We were seated at a table by the staircase and near the front door.. not a great location. Food was so so.. very pricy. Shrimp cocktail was over cooked.. three shrimp for $25.00. The entrees do not come with any sides and are very pricy and nothing spectacular. I had the swordfish Provençal and broccolini. Waiter was okay, a little quirky. Not much follow up during meal.

    CHICAGO RESTAURANT WEEK'S SPECIAL MENU was my selection at OCEAN CUT, while my sister ordered Tuna from the regular menu. My prefixed included options from which I choose the Crab & Corn Chowder which was EXCELLENT. (Not just a small cup, rather a bowl was served up, and I shared with my sister who also raved about how this dish was full of flavor.) Second course was a problem: I had chosen the Black Cod with Beet Shavings as my entree, but it was taking a long time, and finally our suburb server, Marcus, came to apologize, and offered a Sea Bass substitute (worth the wait!); plus another pour of the Rose for us. Final course of a small round, chocolate, velvety chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, berries sprinkled on the plate left a wonderful taste in our mouths. The server apologized again for the wait, and adjusted our bill. We vowed to return and try a fish from the iced case. When you go, view the aquarium. (unfortunately it's angled along the wall to the restrooms; it could be enjoyed more were it facing toward the dining area. Too big to relocate now!) The mood is relaxing, and the lighting set for a nice dinner where you can actually converse. Ask for Marcus, and make your dining experience a good one.

    We went to Oceancut to celebrate starting a new job. Our server was great and explained all the food options in great detail. He was very helpful in explaining the varying tastes of the seafood options. We decided to try some new kinds of fish we had never tried before and everything was excellent. We had a wonderful meal.

    Excellent service,wonderful crab cakes. Best I have ever had. Ahi perfectly cooked with very special salad. Buehler Vineyards Chardonnay went beautiful with all. Cannot wait to go back. I know that dinner is great too.

    The restaurant was half full and bar area nearly empty on a Saturday night. This was a bad first impression. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive but on several occasions would stop, in the middle of talking to my wife and I, and move to speak to another table. That seemed a little odd. My wife had the King Crab legs and was very happy with her dinner. I had Chilean Sea Bass, thought it was average to maybe just a little above average. Overall we had a nice dinner but not the experience we’ve come to expect from dining in Downtown Chicago.

    I've been to Ocean Cut a lot for dinner and am a big fan of their other restaurants (Chicago Cut and Southern Cut BBQ), but this was my first time here for lunch. They had a great prix fix menu at $25 (app, main course, and dessert), and each section had a great variety of options. Definitely something for everyone. From the moment we walked in the door the service was impeccable, and the food was predictably delicious. This is one of the best business lunch spots in the city. If you haven't been yet I highly recommend it.

    I had been to Ocean Cut for a business lunch in December. Everything about the restaurant (food, service, etc.) was fantastic! However this past weekend was a different experience. There were 4 of us dining. I am sure the server is excellent at what he does - but he has such a thick Italian accent that we could barely understand what he was saying. Every time he walked away we each asked what did he say? We were thoroughly confused about what to eat. I guess that was our fault for not asking for someone else that we could understand. It was fascinating . . . we were at a top notch seafood restaurant. The server said the BEST thing on the menu was the 16 ounce bone in steak! He didn't say the best thing on the menu was any of the seafood. Another thing was that one of our party was not satisfied with the way her steak was prepared. We were brought a tray of desserts to make up for that. I'm not 100% sure that was the right solution. The 4 of us walked out of there after paying $650 scratching our heads as to what we just payed that much money for. What we ate and drank certainly was not valued at $650. So thumbs down for that experience.

    The seafood was very good. The variety of seafood in the "fishmarket" was outstanding. The wine list was extensive, however, very overpriced. And, very overpriced on some very common wines. Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc priced at about 5 times Costco's price. The waitress insisted on helping me with recommendations on wines from 3 vinyards, all of which I have visited in the last 2 years. Her effort was weak and way off the mark. The waitress' attempt at managing the bottle of wine resulted in glasses filled well beyond an appropriate level in an obvious attempt to empty the bottle before the main course arrived so that she would sell another bottle of wine. There does not seem to be any reason to pay the high prices at this venue.

    Waiter somewhat unfriendly. My tuna entree was good, my wife’s John Dory was too dry and minimally spiced. The oysters Rockefeller was in a word, poor. Salads adequate but not stellar. No complaints on drinks.
