Unfortunately, overcooked shrimp, inconsiderate/loud guests beside us who were not spoken to by staff and feeling humiliated for speaking up will prevent us from returning.

If you are on an expense account and don't care about food or taste, just a convenient location in mid-town to take clients to, then this is for you. My steak was raw, and I left half of it on the plate. I ordered the foie gras appetizer, which was also raw. Felt like wandering into an episode of True Blood inadvertently. Truly forgettable.

Chevalier is outstanding for fine dining featuring an exceptional menu and an elegant ambiance. The wine list is also exceptional for its diversity, depth and value. We enjoyed Domaine La Barroche Signature 2012 thanks to David. It's great and equally suitable for special as well as business occasions. My first visit was a special occasion and this one was business. We also had Cremant Rose and Bille Rose to begin the evening and ended with Moscato and Dow 2000. All in all, a wonderful time for our clients.

Generally speaking, total excellence. The room is most unusual in its height, graciousness and elegance. The appetizers and entrées are all imaginatively and excellently prepared. Be prepared for the superb Normandie butter. The desserts look great but flavor-wise, are not quite up to snuff. The service is very attentive and the ambience, other than occasional moments of too much noise, is wonderful. One thing they must do is do away with the music. It adds nothing but more noise. All in all, Chevalier delivers on most counts. I enjoy going there a great deal and will continue to do so.

We will sorely miss this restaurant. I can't believe they want to change it. This is the last week before they are gone. Tried the prawn dish, but that didn't suit as I think it was overcooked, but the fish dish of halibut was fabulous as always. The occasion specials brings me here everytime. We had a special truffle vegetarian appetizer that was to die for. We are so spoiled here. Service is on par with the best in the city.

From the moment we entered this truly beautiful room, we knew we were in for a special treat. As per my request, we were seated next to, not across from each other, at a perfect table. Our waiter, David, made us feel totally at home and guided us through the interesting menu. We were never rushed and as a result were able to savor each dish. We highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion, or if you just feel the need to pamper yourself some evening. This is a wonderful adult restaurant where diner can actually have a conversation. The sound level is perfect. We can't wait to return.

Quality, good taste and impeccable manners in all respects form an apt description of Chevalier in NYC. Greeted with charm, comfortably lodged in a tall tasteful room worthy of a modern palace, served with efficiency and subdued friendliness, food for the gods, refined and elegant presentation, notable wine drawn with knowledge from a serious list, all in a quiet atmosphere were combined to create an evening to remember. Chevalier's outstanding qualities would make a special day of any visit.

I was looking for a restaurant that would be able to let my mother know how much I appreciate her everyday. Chevalier was amazing, everything from the beautiful décor, warm greeting we received from everyone wishing her a "Happy Mother's Day", the exceptional customer service and attention to detail. I would love to thank everyone at Chevalier for making my mom's dining experience so special.

Chevalier, located in the Baccarat Hotel, is a fine dining restaurant experience that everyone in NY should try once. From the Baccarat drinking glasses to the beautiful utensil, the dining experience was superb. The service was attentive. We ordered the prix fixe lunch. My friend had the tuna tartare and the ricotta gundi. I had the Dungeness crab salad and filet of cobia. The Dungeness crab salad was wrapped in thinly sliced daikon. It was delicate and delicious. The filet of cobia was undercooked though. We finished our lunch with dessert - chocolate mousse and beignets. The beignets were delicious. You can smell them !!!!!! It was warm and fruity. Highly recommend it.

We were really excited to try this place. Unfortunately the food was not great and the service was really bad. I had the foie gras appetizer. The jelly topping was so bitter and string it overpowered the delicate foie. The short ribs are tough and I had to send mine back. They sent out another portion but it was still tough. I gave up and left starving. On the service, the waiter was not able to articulate the menu and his knowledge of the food was very limited. He didn't know the difference between foie moose, terrine and when I probed about the course he got annoyed.

Chevalier has always been equally appreciated for its cuisine & romantic, colorful setting. Valentine's Day was a total disappointment, underwhelming in every aspect. The restaurant's main floral arrangement was orange lillies; not a Valentine feel. The tables had very small vases with a sprig of green filler and 3 insignificant red flowers; our were dead. I asked what had happened here to learn that Charles Masson & his spectacular flower arrangements has departed. Chevalier is equally parsimonious with food. The $145 tasting menu featured hamasa which was without sauce or taste or delicate bay scallops. Next, the tiny nuggets of quail breast were perfectly cooked but would have benefited from sauce. Unbelievably, the braised wagyu short rib was dry and returned for [frozen] lobster tail which was described as garnished w kumquats but actually was glazed with same/overwhelmingly orange. The raspberry vacherin was an ice ball which when you broke it revealed cream and a nugget of meringue. The amuse was half of a baby beet. The post dessert sweets were equally sparse. It is quite possible to leave still hungry.Too many hands are involved with the service which has now become unsophisticated. One serve attempted to remove my dinner plate while my spouse was still eating. At the same time, it took 4 requests to obtain ice. Some folks were nicely attired but jeans and untucked shirts also were well represented. Obviously, never again!

I would say that the food was above average, but not great for the price. Some of the seafood was cooked right (Cod) and some was a little over cooked (Branzino and scallops). The bigger issue was the uneven service. When they assumed that my wine order was for a glass and not a bottle, they should have asked my girlfriend what she wanted, but they tend not giving her the feeling that she was being ignored. Water glasses and wine glasses were not monitored and refilled and I ended up pouring the wine. This is below expectations for a restaurant at this price that appears to be striving to achieve excellence. The wine was good, but that was more or less my choice.

NY is known as foodie heaven and this restaurant should be at the top of everyone's list. To be honest, I had never heard of it and only found it because a client and I decided to have dinner closer to Rock Center. The menu is decidedly French as is the music and ambiance. It is a very chic restaurant and given that it is attached to The Baccarat, it fits perfectly. The amuse bouche were delectable and generous and our appetizers were amazing. I had a sweetbread with polenta and a bit of cheese which no doubt took 5 years off my life, but I ate every ite. My guest had a seafood special which looked fabulous and since i wasn't offered taste, tells me he wasn't about to share. We then had the duck breast and lamb respectively and they were cooked perfectly. From a wine perspective, the somalier was very helpful and selected a beautiful Burgandy which complimented the meats and didn't cost a fortune. Neither of us wanted a full dessert so the treats at the end of the meal were perfect. All in all, a new top pick and favorite for me.
