This is a great location and nicely appointed restaurant with great service. The food however was poor for the Sunday brunch in March. The fish sandwich came to the table with the bread burned and hard making it inedible. The Egg Sandwich Croque Monsieur; did not contain "soft scrambled egg". The egg was cooked more like an dry omelet. Perhaps the chef didn't show up that day but it was disappointing.

The restaurant offered inside or outside tables, but inside suited us because of the proximity of the road. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient, no rush, no pressure. The food was really good, and our only disappointment was the cost of drinks, all were too expensive.

My wife and I were here last year for Valentine’s Day and had such a good time that I’d thought I would surprise her for her birthday. As soon as we opened the door we were greeted so kindly. Our server Cliff was amazing! He really made my wife’s birthday dinner special. He was very patient, kind and knowledgeable. We will be back soon.

The restaurant was low on staff. It seemed like there was one server and one runner for the entire restaurant. The initial course came out in a timely manner and then the main took another 45 mn or so. Nobody ever came to check on us or ask us if we needed anything and we tried to flag people down but it was difficult. The server was very pleasant, just didn’t have the bandwidth to be attentive. It was a shame, because we were there for my father’s birthday and couldn’t even order dessert from the server (we waited for them to bring the menu for 15 minutes after the initial flag down and then just gave up).

Sauvage is a beautiful restaurant, well designed with great attention to detail and a very comfortable and inviting atmosphere. We enjoyed the duck for two, beautiful pink slices served over speatzle lightly dressed in a delectably aromatic sauce. The duck liver mousse pate with grilled bread that accompanied it was quite tasty. The wine list has many choices by the glass.

I was looking for a different place to dine with a friend in which it was their birthday. I noticed Sauvage was available and I had been here in the summer sitting at an outdoor table. Then it was good. The chef can come up with interesting combinations of flavors, if you can appreciate that. We were seated immediately since the place was relatively empty at that time. It did get busy and hour later. On the salad menu the waitress offered us the puntarelle salad. Puntarelle is actually the inner part of Catalonian chickory which is not typically grown in the US. It had a bitter leaning flavor and has a consistency of celery. The way they prepared it was masterful. It had a slight spicy Tonite to add to the flavor. Our bottle of wine came. I saw they had a Douro wine on the list and I had to pick it. It's a Tran Douro Express, usually from the Porto region of Portugal. It was very nice and smooth. We savored the taste very much. Our entrees came in which we ordered the Steak au poivre that is accompanied by potatoes au gratin and it's finished with a very crispy and delicious outside. It was good. Also had the pork porterhouse, which was not bad. Finally we ended the evening with a digestif, an Amaro! It was good evening. The waitress may have been new, she did not know all the wines on the list but it was not bother. For dessert we got the lemon meringue pie.

Sauvage is a nice brunch spot with nice decor and servers but that’s where the pros end. The food is nothing to exclaim about but is priced highly. Drinks are alright, but not worth their price. Would not recommend to friends or return.

I was a little disappointed in the menu at three-course menu at Sauvage for NYE. I'd like to believe that this was due to the prix-fixe selection. Each course was ok not fantastic. The staff was very polite and mannerable but seemed to lack expertise and understanding of the dishes. I would consider going back to Sauvage to try their full menu to see if it differs from my first experience.

Our first time at Sauvage was New Year's Eve. The service exceeded our expectations--just the right amount of attentiveness and not rushed, you feel valued as a customer. The food, a prix fixe special menu for the holiday, was delicious. The Parisian atmosphere is lively and casual, yet special. We will definitely go back!

If the food was barely just okay I would have forgiven the attitude. As we entered the restaurant we were led by the host to a table by the bar, the table appeared to be too small so we asked to be seated in the main room which clearly had more than five empty tables for two. The host/manager then told us that he cannot give us a table in the main dinning area claiming that he is waiting for other reservations to arrive, mind you, we also had reservations. The manager then relented and gave us a table in the main dinning room, probably because he realized that he made no sense. What made things worse was the incredibly tasteless food...we ordered four dishes none of which tasted particularly good. The host's attitude was further exasperating when it was clear that hardly anyone else came in to the restaurant, and it remained more than half empty, on a Friday night. I wish we hadn't stayed since even the food had no redeeming quality. My suggestion: get a new manager and new chef.

From the moment we walked in and were greeted warmly, we knew that we were in for a culinary treat. The waiter was friendly and helpful. The restaurant decor made us feel like we were in a true French bistro. Everything we ate was prepared perfectly and was absolutely delicious. The French onion soup was big enough for a main course. The steak and fish entrees were excellent. We will definitely return!

Decent food and atmosphere but really this place is all about the cocktails and those certainly didn’t disappoint - best Bloody Marys we’ve ever had in NY! Went for brunch at peak hour 11:30am on a Saturday, so the place was full as to be expected (even including overflow seating outdoors under the heaters on the coldest day of the year so far!) but had been surprisingly easy to pick up the reservation a couple of weeks earlier. Food was solid and on par with other good NY restaurants, although nothing overly special. Having to dock a star overall for the service: 1. Mentioned gluten allergy and was still served toast, 2. Breakfast plate was served without the breakfast sausage, and 3. Had to ask for butter - in all fairness our waitress was super apologetic and helpful in fixing the issues but at this price point you shouldn’t have to ask.
