L'Allegria Ratings and Reviews
This was the second time I had eaten at the restaurant. I was so impressed with the food during a Sunday lunch I wanted to go back for dinner. Sarah, our server, was well informed and answered all questions and made excellent recommendations. The food was TERRIFIC!
Wonderful food ,good service & a pretty setting make for a great dining experience...it’s nice to be able to split a pasta entree as an appetizer...the spaghetti carbonara was delicious and filling...veal was so tender no knife required....an added bonus was the live piano music emanating from the bar area..all in all a special evening..
One of my favorite lical restaurants. Excellent food across the board, in a very nice, cozy setting. Usually sit at a table served by Elena, who is excellent time after time. Service this time was fair at best, a young man who was new. Next time I will remember to specify Elens in my reservation.
My wife and I first discovered L'Allegria about nine months ago. Since then, we have dined at L'Allegria about eight - ten times.
The Wine List is extensive, with choices for both reds and whites covering an expansive cost range. The dinner menu is extensive and is supplemented by several specials.
The food - appetizers, salads, pasta, meats, chicken, veal, and fish - has been consistently well presented and delicious.
Server Rob goes out of his way to welcome us and serve us extraordinarily well. The other servers appear to be as equally welcoming and attentive.
My wife and I will return again and again.
L'Allegria always pleases. Their spaghetti carbonara is a hidden gem as an appetizer or main course. The polenta with pancetta is another home run appetizer . Basically everything they serve is excellent and well thought out in presentation and taste. Their pizza is also a knock out.I have eaten at the other Italian restaurants in Madison and Chatham and they really do not hold a candle to L'Allegria.
Haven't been to this restaurant in a very long time and we were quite disappointed. Our server was aloof, never filled our water glasses, forgot drink orders and was rude when we asked if they had blue cheese stuffed olives. Maybe he was having a bad day but that doesn't justify the bad food. Appetizers were bland and my dinner looked like it had come out of the garbage. Never again! Many, many years ago, they served very good food - don't know what happened.
Food was mostly good, only 1 entree of 4 was not good. Service was terrible. Hardly saw our waitress. We were never told what the specials were, where the menus were. Sat for 20 minutes before anyone paid attention to us. Waited 30 more minutes for appetizers, then 30 more minutes for entrees. Had to request for bread and water, this should just be offered. Spent over 2 hrs for dinner without dessert as we just didn't want to stay any longer.
We had a 7:15 reservation last saturday night / got there on time. Hostess said 10 minute wait. At 7:35 asked again. Told 10 minutes more. At 7:45 asked again- told 10 minutes more but pushed for "honest" answer which came back "not sure". Seated a little after 8.
Bread came - went to pour the oil and the top of the oil "container" came off - the oil spilled thankfully only totally filling the bread plate. Told the waiter- who said - " oh, that has happened before!".
The service is slow - the people there are very nice. Pasta is very good. The wild boar over risotto was mediocre.
They need to figure their scheduling. Seating reservations 45 minutes late is not acceptable.
I made a reservation on open table and left a comment that I was there celebrating my parents 40th anniversary. When we got to the restaurant, it had our name in the reservation book and what we were celebrating. The entire night went and not one person said happy anniversary or acknowledged the occasion. After saying something to the waiter they still did nothing.....didn’t even offer us anything. The food was eh and it’s very pricey. I cannot believe an upscale restaurant would act in this manor.
The worst dining experience I've had in years. Food took over 2 hours to arrive. Server only checked once with us to ask if we wanted dessert, and we had not received our entrees yet. They were totally disorganized. We left after 3 hours, 15 minutes. Food was bland and tasteless.
They tried to make amends by buying each of us a glass of wine and offered free dessert, but by then we were thoroughly disgusted.
We went out for my husbands birthday. The food was excellent but my fish portion was small. The service was slow for an empty restaurant. It was a 1000 points promotion for that evening. It was a problem to receive my points due to incompatible computers Eventually I received it,
