French
Kiki's is a French Bistro with regional specialties and has the look and feel of a French country inn.

It has received 3-star reviews from both *The Chicago Tribune* and *The Sun Times*, and now in its eighteenth year, Kiki's Bistro maintains its well-earned reputation of gastronomic excellence and friendly, professional service. A comfortable French country atmosphere attracts an eclectic array of food-lovers, including celebrities, politicians, and acclaimed chefs.

Previous to Kiki's Bistro, Georges "Kiki" Cuisance opened Le Bordeaux at Madison and State in 1969. The restaurant attained a revered status among cosmopolitan Chicagoans, and when "Kiki" moved his kitchen to its current River North digs, his avid following of regulars and Francophiles pursued without hesitation. In an official proclamation the City of Chicago praised Mr. Cuisance for being at the forefront of introducing French cuisine and savoir-vivre to Chicago's developing dining scene.

Kiki still offers a wonderful, simple bistro menu with the great food to back it up. And the bartender to match with the martini's. We both had the prix fix and because of that, I had desert. A rarity for me. The Mouse Chocolat was wonderful. Interesting presentation and so good I didn't share with my wife. I recommend Kiki's to all of our friends. T

We eat at Kiki's periodically, and this was another excellent experience - good food and excellent service. They were more quiet than usual as the date was 09 Mar 2020 - right before the order came down to shut all restaurants in Chicago.

Returned to Kiki's after too long away. Such a delightful, authentic and warm venue, with outstanding menu options. Quality is consistent and excellent, and the wine list is expansive and very reasonably priced.

Go for the ambience. Warm, cozy, romantic if tha is what you are going for. The cassoulet is overrated. The beet salad was pedestrian. But despite that, it was a most enjoyable evening.

Exceeded expectations. After reading some of the less than perfect reviews we were pleasantly surprised. I had the frog leg appetizer (don't get that at home), the steak pomme frites and the bread pudding dessert. All were excellent. Wife had the salmon du jour that was cooked just the way she likes it, well done (ugh!). Can't understand a negative review of the pomme frites, they were just like they should be. My only complaint is that they tried to seat us next to the bathrooms even though at 6 pm the place was less than half full. However, when I objected we were given a very nice corner table. We have added Kiki's to our list of neighborhood favorites.

It pains me to write this review. Kiki's Bistro has been one of our favorite restaurants for years. We always recommend it to people as a hidden gem, and I actually just included it on a list of restaurants you must eat at when you visit Chicago. However, our visit on Valentine's Day was extremely disappointing. Our waitress (short gray hair and glasses) was downright rude and rushed us throughout the entire meal. Half of my food arrived cold. And we were seated right in the walkway, so servers kept hitting my arm and my husband's arm while they raced past. I even had my fork knocked out of my hand because I was bumped so hard. If this had been our first visit, we would never return. So disappointed that one of my favorite restaurants let us down so badly. The one highlight was the lady working the coat check. She was warm, gracious, and showed the kind hospitality I normally expect from a visit at Kiki's.

We hadn't been to Kiki's in a while. The food is very good. My friend had the Dover Sole and pronounced it delicious. I had the roasted chicken from the prix fie menu. It was excellent and more than I could eat, perhaps because it came with exceptional pomme frites! The lemon tart desert was perfect! I could have eaten a little more salad that the starter contained. (Go figure). They were not crowded on a Thursday evening so it was quiet and cozy. The tables are close enough that it could be quite loud if full. Service was terrific and they have valet parking. We will definitely be back.

So we've been to Kiki's many times and normally the experience is excellent. The food was great as usual but the service was really disappointing. It started almost from the moment we sat down. We received menus, but not the wine list. We realized that there was a 3 course prix fixe menu that had exactly what we would order available until 6:30pm. When we tried to confirm with our waiter that this would be ok (we sat down at 6:25) he said no it was 7:30! When we pointed out that it wasn't quite 6:30 actually; he said they were busier than usual so maybe that is why he was confused on the time. He did later bring a wine list and after I ordered a bottle listed for $85 in the menu . After leaving our table for a bit our waiter came back telling us it was actual $90 (not a big deal if this were the only thing that went wrong). We ordered all 3 courses (as part of the prix fixe menu) and waited for our food. The food was excellent as always. After our main course our waiter brought dessert menus (weird?). We ordered the same desserts, again mentioning that as well. After dinner I order a coffee too. The first cup was fine, when I asked for a refill it was completely cold. My wife pointed this out to our waiter, he did bring a fresh cup, but there wasn't even so much as an apology. Finally when the check came our desserts were on there in addition to the prix fixe charges. Again we pointed this out to our waiter and it was fixed but again without any attempt at an apology. So it may have been just a bad night for our waiter but it was an unusual experience for us.
