Dungenous Crab Benedict was phenomenal! And the potatoes rocked too! Excellent meal chased wirh a horseradish Bloody Mary! Awesome! Great and attentive service!
Romantic and cosy setting, we had a good date night! Food was delicious, with unusual flavors.
Our appetizer (brussel sprouts) were EXCELLENT, our entrees were good but not great. The ambiance and decor was also awesome - one of my favorite parts.
My favorite brunch place. Great food, and the sweetest service I’ve experienced in Seattle. I hope to become a regular.
We loved our server and his suggestions (we tried some, but not all, of them). The seafood was excellent and our only issue was that we ordered too much and couldn't finish it all. It is rather loud, but so is everywhere these days.
One of the better deals in brunch downtown. The crab cake Benedict was outstanding. The brioche and the homefries were also excellent. And my kid liked the burger. Recommended.
Out bartender/server was wonderful. Can’t wait to go back
Shaker + Spear is a must stop spot during every trip to Seattle. The seasonal menu changes combined with an unique cocktail menu means there is something new to discover each time. The service is impeccable because Mitch continues to define the epitome of great customer service.
Mitchell was great and the food was excellent, as always
The food at Shaker and Spear is outstanding. The standouts in our meal was the perfectly cooked octopus in a wonderful presentation, the Dungeness Crab dip, and the whole fried snapper. The cocktails were excellent and creative. The service was very friendly and just the right touch. The ambience on a fairly busy Sunday evening was crowded, but the noise wasn't excessive. Overall it was a great meal. It was, after the snapper, a little bit on the pricey side, but within Seattle high moderate range. I would go again!
A great space. Great quality food, great service. Was staying at hotel, and even though there were lots of other options around, we ate here both nights.
Our server made our first time dining experience very enjoyable. We ordered the Cod Beignets which was airy and delightful but was expecting the cod to be incorporated into the dough rather than in the middle. The charred octopus is a must order!!! The seafood was amazing and cooked perfectly, the only criticism I have about the paella dish is that the rice wasn’t at all crispy(crispy rice at the bottom of the pan is a must in my book) and the rice was a bit undercooked :(
Amazing service and very knowledgeable about the menu and cooking methods. Food was tasty with appropriate portions.
The food was ultimately delicious (the fries!!) however the service and timing was not. While everyone was very pleasant, our food took over 40
Great 31st anniversary celebration! Looking forward to our return visit!
Our server (I don’t recall his name) was outstanding. We had a large party of 9 for a work lunch. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere was perfect for a group setting, and the food was amazing. Five stars hands down. We will be back for sure.
Enjoyed a lovely meal at a working breakfast. Interesting menu options delivered by a friendly and well informed server who was clearly passionate about good food. Will not disappoint.
This was my second trip to Shaker + Spear, and I remain very pleased with all aspects of their food and service. They have a varied and unique menu, and the food is outstanding.
Great new restaurant in Seattle. Food was amazing, lots of items to share. Service was superb !
Excellent restaurant attached to a Kimpton property hotel. The cook on the seafood was outstanding and the flavor pairings were on point. I would highly recommend the charred octopus, if it’s still on the menu. On top of that, the service was fantastic.
This was my first time eating here. The service was friendly and timely. The food was good but nothing notable. In that respect, I was a bit disappointed. My expectation was to eat something original and bursting with flavor but it wasn't so. Bad acoustics - hence it was loud and hard to carry on a conversation without screaming. If you like a loud atmosphere, then this is your place. While the service is friendly and timely, it seems to be the norm nowadays to have your meal disrupted by the service. Constantly having to stop our conversation to allow the service to take place. The server becomes part of your experience. So it is good that they have friendly and courteous servers.
Food ranged from fantastic to above average. Service wAs uniformly great Noise level overwhelming; nothing to soften the sound. Chairs excruciatingly uncomfortable.
My guest from India loved the meal!
Wonderful, succulent food. Great spot full of atmosphere and great service.
Creative, fresh Northwest cuisine (the seafood and chorizo paella, sizzling in cast iron, was spectacular, and paired well with the fluffy rosemary popovers) with attentive, expert wait staff and terrific cocktails and mocktails. One of our favorite Seattle restaurants.
The food is always excellent, it is a small restaurant so reservations are a good idea
We went here for my sister's birthday brunch. The server was fantastic and we really enjoyed our experience. The food was great too.
The dishes are designed with creativity, an artistic sense and passion towards food. I had ordered the octopus there, which seems to be one of the classic items there, had touched me a lot by how tender it is. While having the seafood paella as the entree, the squid ink had brought this traditional dish to the next level that made you feel so full (in terms of both satisfaction and the stomach). Definitely recommend for those who are in Seattle to give it a try when you get tired of your day-to-day meals.
My review is mixed because the food ranged from "meh" to outstanding. The "meh" was the smoked trout, arugula and white beans; the arugula was fresh and crisp but the dressing tasted overwhelmingly like white vinegar. Some places go overboard in the sweetness of dressings (i.e. using a sweet balsamic) so it was okay on that score, i.e. not swimming in too-sweet dressing, but it just didn't taste that good. The beans are pureed, which is okay in itself but they are under the pile of arugula so it made them hard to get at without getting bean puree mixed with arugula, and arugula can't "stand up" to a heavy coating. The smoked trout was so-so - not an improvement over, say, what you'd get with packaged smoked fish so readily available in the Seattle area. Now the outstanding - the rosemary popovers. The order came with two, and they were hot and freshly made, and tasted very good, with a hint of rosemary instead of being overpowered by it. And the service was very good as well. So I give the place "mixed reviews" - it is true that I did not sample very many dishes, but given that one of the dishes had several components, which I felt were mediocre, it gave an overall impression that left me feeling that I'm not eager to rush back and try other things.
This is more like a Seattle hidden away gem than a hotel restaurant. Great seafood. Good wine. My guest loved it!
Ours was not a good experience. First off the tables were way to close together and the noise factor was almost unbearable. I almost had to shout for my wife to hear me. Then the food was just average and very expensive considering the quality. A side of broccolini cost $7! And unless you were to limit your choices to starters, there were no vegan/vegetarian options. Although the wait staff were friendly there was an unexplained 'surcharge' on our check. We will not be going back.
Wow. Just wow. My fiancee and I were in town to celebrate her birthday weekend, and while we were very impressed with the food we had throughout Seattle overall, Shaker + Spear was quite possibly the best. The charred octopus is the best dish I've had in a while. We will definitely be making a stop here next time we are in the area!
I heard great things about this place, and we would like to give it another try. But the service was lacking, some of our food was just ok, and the prices were a bit up there. We ordered our kiddo a steamed milk (just milk, no flavor) and it was $5! Come on...Starbucks doesn't even charge that. The dungeness crab cakes were decent but the potatoes while had a good seasoning were missing that 'something. The rosemary popovers were just like my mom makes -so yum. We ordered the lemon ricotta pancake-while our waiter told us it would take 25min to make, it would be good to note that on the menu. And it took wayyy longer than 25min because we had already finished our meal before it even came, and then edges were burnt. The bloody Mary's were delish-but $12 a drink. I had the mushroom omelet and greens. The omelet was just eggs with mushrooms rolled in the omelet, but it was good. The salad was so salty I couldn't stand it. The strawberry jam that came with my toast was amazing, but I probably would've preferred less sugary. We'd like to give it another shot but this visit was just so so.
We had a very nice meal here, our only issue was that we picked out a $60ish bottle of wine, that they did not have in stock, the waitress recommended another Syrah as an alternative. Our party of 4 had 2 bottles, and when we got our bill the wine was over $100 a bottle.
Maybe we should have asked , but bad form to suggest an alternative at a different price point without calling attention to it.
Our second time here, better than the first, and the first time was pretty fantastic. We shared several plates and they were all delicious! Drinks were great, service was fantastic. Can’t want to return! If you haven’t been here, you have to go!
Adam is is a great ambassador for the restaurant.
The appetizers were great, and the deserts fantastic. The main courses suffered a bit from being too clever in the composition - execution was very good, but some of the dishes seemed to suffer for the cause of being unique rather than tasty.
Service was fantastic!
I took my wife and her mother (who was visiting from out of town) to Shaker + Spear. The person who greeted us was very warm and wished us a Happy Anniversary as soon as we got there.
We met Heidi our server and immediately kicked it off with her, very warm, knowledgeable, patient and attentive. We ordered the grilled prawn, salt cod beignets, diver scallops and branzino. Each dish was excellent and it made me very happy that both my new wife and new mother in law were able to relax and enjoy this place, the company and guidance of Heidi and get our long weekend together off to a good start.
Thank you Heidi and Shaker + Spear for a great evening.
Great service and great food! Thank you!
Great food that warmed the soul
