Lidia’s Pittsburgh menu concept is a combination of the New York restaurants, Felidia and Becco.
Lidia's is located downtown in the strip district near the Heinz History Center, Benedum Center, Heinz Hall, Byham Theater, PNC Park, and PPG Paints Arena so it's the perfect place to enjoy a great meal before your event.
The menu features a daily pasta tasting, with homemade pastas that incorporate the season's freshest ingredients in addition to hearty Italian favorites such as the osso bucco, a braised heritage pork shank with barley risotto, the scallopine of chicken breast with roasted lemon, capers, and olives, and grilled salmon filet with seasonal contorni.
Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 4:30pm-6:30pm
The seasonal private dining menus capture the warmth of Lidia’s cuisine, evoking an authentic Italian meal in a lovely environment. Italian favorites are highlights of our three to four course dinner options along with our antipasti rustic buffet settings.View Private Dining Details
It was my wife’s birthday and I had asked that they do something special for her birthday for dessert- and they didn’t. This is the second time I have been there for a special occasion and my request has been ignored- it appears they are just not able to get it together!!! I will not be back.
The service at the restaurant was not great. Our server was very nice but we ordered the pasta trio which is served at the table. We waited to get each of the varieties and then waited even longer to get seconds any of the pastas. The cost of this type of pasta meal was too expensive for what we received.
The food is fantastic. We had the three pasta tasting menu and it was better than you can imagine. Pasta is unlimited and it is very hard to turn the servers away when they seconds and thirds. The Caesar salad is also delicious and the desserts are very tasty as well. Well worth a trip to have dinner.
Lori, our server, was fantastic as she kept things moving and was a real professional. Food was good as always.
We've dined at Lidia's numerous times as it was one of my father's favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. He was a restaurant owner and worked in the business in the DC area for decades and is extremely particular. We appreciated their attention to detail on this visit and acknowledgment of his birthday celebration by bringing a trio of gelato with a pretty birthday message & candle. However, we all felt that a bit of the 'magic' has been lost...unclear if overextended with too many restaurants, etc. but - although nothing was bad - it was all just 'good' rather than outstanding. Also, they eliminated Mimosas & Bloody Mary's during Sunday Brunch stating 'since they lowered their price'. However, I understand it used to be $19.99, then I believe raised to $24.00 and now $29.99 which, to my mind, is reasonably priced, but you can offer (1) cocktail with cheap champagne and not lose any money while keeping the integrity of the brunch which most other restaurants offer and knowing others in the party will order & pay for other drinks such as beer, wine, etc. to compensate for the couple of included drinks.
Apps and dessert were good. Entrees were just ok.
We visited Pittsburgh on three separate trips over the last two months and ate at Lidia's 5 times over the 8 evenings we were there. My wife and I and our guests had no complaints about the food and service. The food is excellent and we looked forward to returing.
Their soup of the day is the best, very healthy, but served only as a bowl during dinner hours. but no one left anything to waste. We tried appetizers including the scampi alla felidia, polipo grilled octopus, polpette pork/beef meatballs, burrata cheese/salmon, and schiachata flatbread, all great. For dinner, one guest tried the all you can eat tasting trio and they thought it was great, and they were filled up with the first serving of each. We tried all of the pastas, all excellent and different, and my own favorite is the ziti con polpettine (baked with a few small meatballs). The secondi menu provides a variety of different items to suit anyone's tastes as well. You can't go wrong with any of the home made deserts, tried all of them except the tiramisue.
The only negative thing I have to say is that there are only a handful of street parking spaces, and don't plan on finding one during peak dining hours. The valet costs $10 without a tip. We actually stayed at a nearby hotel and walked 3 of the times, went to an early dinner and found the last metered street parking space for about $2, and one time we had did the valet. I suggest that Lidia's offer some discount if you valet, say something off of the restaurant bill?
I ordered the pasta trio, and I really enjoyed two of the three pastas I received. I love that they give you options and salad and the dessert was delicious. I do wish you could take a little sample of each pasta home with you, we did ask for a couple extra scoops although we did not need them at the time and just wanted a little take out, but after an appetizer and salad we were pretty full and would have liked to take some more leftovers home for the price of the meal. Everything else was wonderful my only real complaint is that the restaurant itself smelled a little musty. Almost as if the carpets have gotten went and not properly cleaned. They did look pretty dirty as well. I still would definitely return!
Even though my eggplant parm was cold, it was still tasty. We've had mixed experiences at Lidia's over the years. We almost had an issue when we were taken to a seat near a table of 6 men in a corner. Not that we minded the men, it was that the WHOLE restaurant was open and to put us smack next to a large (loud) table was hard to understand. Luckily, we were able to convince the hostess to move us somewhere that MADE SENSE!
Everything was so good!!
Have been to several of Lidia’s restaurants. They are always some of the best meals and as usual the service was impressive.
The food was very good our waitress was exceptional! If dining during the week I recommend making reservations before 7:30 if ordering the pasta trio. It was difficult to find those servers for additional helpings. Yes they were yummy! My children wanted more. I had the steak it was awesome and cooked to perfection.
The service at Lidia's was great, but the food (lasagna, calamari, bread, spreads) were just ok.
The menu offered more choices than most restaurants. I had trouble picking one entree. I loved the short ribs - good choice.
Our server (Anone) was quite helpful with the menu. He was also quite personable.
We will be back again.
Four of us had brunch on Sunday. The food was delicious and portions were ample.
Our server was enthusiastic and attentive. The food was exceptional.
Excellent food and service. Thanks to Jason for his attention to our table. Pace of courses was good. A great experience.
The risotto tasted like Spanish rice. Very disappointing. Everything else was good.
Great service and venue! Friendly staff. Food was outstanding.
We treated our daughter to a 21 birthday salute & Lidias was perfect in every way - thanks for a memorable meal!
We have been to Lidia's other restaurants and were very much looking to trying out her restaurant in Pittsburgh, having driven from New Jersey. The menu and wine list are typical of Lidia's NYC restaurant Becco and some of the menu items were featured at that restaurant. Our only real concern with this restaurant was the exceedingly quick pace of ordering and food presentation. The food was very good, however, brought out so quickly that were were in and out in under 1 hour. Much too rushed. Had the pace been more conducive to fine dining, the rating would have been much higher
We went for our anniversary. No acknowledgement of the occasion from anyone.
Caesar salad was disgusting! It was wilted and soggy. Sent it back for a different salad, which was better but not great.
The Pasta sampler/trio (where it’s all-you-can-eat) wasn’t good at all! Pasta was served cold, and the pasta was over cooked. I didn’t want more of any of it.
The man serving the food at times was rude and very “quick” with his responses to my requests, indicating he had an attitude about something. But, his problem is not my problem. As a customer, I felt his attitude clearly.
The wait for everything was long, except for our table which they did seat us upon arrival.
Waitress brought us the bill folder with NO BILL!!!!! When she finally returned to collect, I asked her if the meal was free because it had no bill on the inside. She looked shocked! She left, and returned 10 minutes later with a bill.
Overall experience was really bad, unfortunately. It’s a place with a good reputation and I was expecting a lot more. Very disappointed with our experience.
I doubt we will ever return.
Very loud it was my 40th wedding Anniversary and asked for a romantic table but that did not work out
Lydia is my favorite TV show so I was honored to be able to eat in one of her restaurants.the noise level was a little high but it was a Saturday night the place was packed but we still got excellent service. The prices are a little high on the menu but the food was very good. A great place for special occasion dinners anniversaries birthdays business.we did use the valet parking as there is not a lot of parking in the area due to other events that were going on. I think there may be limited parking a lot of the time due to the area.
Service was good but good was not served hot. Needs improvement.
Outstanding food and great service. The weekend brunch is delicious.
Wonderful meal. Service was excellent. Would go again.
Food and service were excellent. Our biggest complaint is the noise level. I had a hard time hearing my wife across the table (which sometimes is a good thing,) but on a date night without kids I would like to hear her.
Lidia's restaurant represents well Lidia's quality cooking as portrayed on her tv show and her cookbooks. Large space but attentive staff and excellent food.
Not the same place it used to be when it opened. The pasta dishes were so bland. It’s almost like the cook had called off that day and the kitchen was being handled by trainees. This is to be one of my favorite places. Not anymore.
The pasta trio was phenomenal. Our server, Cenzo, was enthusiastic about the specials for the evening and was very attentive to our wants/needs. We will definitely be back!
It was ok, some food was overcooked . Waitress was kind of sour too. I wouldn't be thrilled to go back there.
It was a great experience and very delicious food. Love it and will come back to it!!!
The food is original and served in a pleasing manner. Our waiter was well informed and accommodating. Beautiful atmosphere.
Our reservation time was set for 615pm. I received a reminder email and phone confirmation of this time. When we arrived they had us for an 8pm reservation instead. With that said, we were eventually seated once they got a table set up. However, they sat us upstairs and since it was our first visit to Lidia's we were not aware of the differences from the downstairs to upstairs. Not the best for ambiance or service. The food was average, nothing extra special. I may return someday but doubtful.
Big fan of Lidia and been to her other restaurants but this one has very bland food. Just not much love in the food. Also downstairs seemed wide open yet put us upstairs which felt like a hotel banquet room. Would not go back.
First time there. Awesome food! They just kept bringing the pasta. Went to sleep that night in a sweet carby coma.
Very good service and pleasant atmosphere. The portions are generous and tasty. The pasta and duck dishes are true standouts. Will definitely come here again in the future.
Food was average at best. Good service, but eh with the food. No flavor on most of our dishes. No one was impressed to be honest.
Brunch with pasta tasting trio was delicious. Antipasti options were excellent, and they had a nice variety of hot and cold items. Dessert options were perfect finish to the meal and the small portions were appropriate after such a big meal of pasta and antipasti. Wine list was extensive and we were able to find one of our favorites quickly. Friendly service as well. We will definitely be back.
