This is my second time here and I ordered the Ham Benedict. It was good, but the Server said that the Chef tends to cook on the medium side for the eggs so we didn't need to specify.....well not this day.....it was pretty runny but I never send eggs back as they ALWAYS start over and it means that you don't get to eat with your friends. Everything else was fine, we had a good time.

Fried chicken was great. My memories of shrimp and grits Cajun and fried gizzards differ from the versions here. Not a bad thing, but these were sweeter in every case. Service by Ashley was excellent

Very underwhelming, "southern/orleans" food. The greens in particular were stunningly bad - sugar-huh???? Overly reliant on the stalwart pig for any flavor - which is just lazy.

I'd been to Roux once before and enjoyed their fried chicken but it was a bit too noisy that night to enjoy a conversation with my date. I went again on a Monday and it was much quieter so was able to catch up with a long lost friend. We ended up staying a couple of hours and really enjoyed the food as well the lovely white blend they offered that evening by the glass. I'll definitely be back but likely on a Monday or Tuesday night when the ambiance fits me better.

We sat at the Bar and our Service was excellent! We had the Shrimp and Grits and it was fantastic, perfectly cooked shrimp and a rich spicy sauce. We also had the Chilaquiles and they were a little soggy but good flavor. The atmosphere is really mellow her and I love the industrial space. It felt warm and cosy. The hostess was really friendly and accommodating, and the Bartender was friendly and efficient! I will go back for sure!

We've gone to Roux twice now, and we loved it both times. Always start with the beignets - they are a delicious start to any brunch. No complaints about the staff. They are attentive and kind. I highly recommend these folks for a weekend brunch!

My partner and I had a great first experience at Roux. Our bartender/server was super knowledgeable about the menu and happily offered suggestions. We ended up trying some small plates that we probably normally wouldn't have...but were so glad we did! SO DELICIOUS!! Loved it all.

We love Roux! Great food and great service! I love the chicken and waffles. The chicken is perfectly fried and doesn't have too much batter. The egg and ham benedict also is a favorite. The staff always is very nice. I enjoy sitting at the kitchen bar and watching the crew make breakfast.

Drinks and small plates with friends. Both raw and pan fried oysters were excellent, but pear salad special a miss--too many whole raw hazelnuts, heavy blue cheese, limp arugula and scorched pear slices lacking pear flavor (perhaps unripe?). Not enough to prevent our return, though as we've had several excellent meals at Roux. Will continue to recommend to friends.

This was my second visit to Roux and we weren't disappointed. Our server was great (sorry I can't remember her name but it could be Ashley) and very attentive to our group although she was very busy. The fried pickles are excellent and even those at our table who had never experienced such a delightful item, loved them. I returned for the pork chop and I wasn't disappointed. Roux has quickly become one of my go to places.

We arrived early for a reservation later in the evening and were lucky enough to be able to get a seat at the bar. They serve food at the bar so we asked the hostess if we could just eat at the bar and she kindly let us know that would be ok. The bartender, Patrick I believe, was fantastic. Although busy, he managed it all well. What was interesting though, was watching the rest of the servers in the place. Everyone else working in the restaurant appeared miserable and would put a fake smile on only when having to interact with a customer, quite odd, maybe something happened that evening (I don't expect everyone to always be happy all the time, but the behavior was borderline rude with rolling of eyes as servers left tables). As for the food, my dish did come out cold, but I was offered to have the meal remade or reheated - I opted for a reheat as it was not going to affect my meal. I had the hush puppies and the jambalaya - both were delicious. So good that even though I haven't been to many of the restaurants in the area, I will definitely be coming back to Roux soon.

We had the shrimp and grits, which were wonderful, and the ribs, which were disappointing. The rids were dry and too salty. I think they had been sitting in the smoker for a little longer than they should have. The shrimp and grits however, were great and so were the fried oysters. Would definitely go again.

My second time dining at Roux was a bit disappointing. It took an hour to receive our food. Somehow all the beans in the red beans and rice entry were under cooked. Also it was a bit bland. Thank goodness we added on the fried chicken. Hush puppies were again delicious.

My friends suggested Roux so to be safe I made a reservation, upon arriving the resturant was busy and we checked in as our table needed to be reset so we decided to start at the bar. Frustration started after we told 4 people that we were waiting for the table to be reset and the 1 person that we didn't talk with attempted to give our table away to a walk in party of 4. There was no communication among the FOH and they were working at full capacity. Our server was pleasant but you could tell that he was stressed, another server (same girl) brought dessert twice to our table before we had dinner right after we told her that we were waiting on dinner. A simple error but no focus which led us to believe that they were just to busy. The kitchen seemed to be handling the busy night easily. My dinner was less than expressive, my salad was covered in grated cheese and was very salty, shrimp & grits bland well didn't remind me of anything southern and the red velvet cake was dry and flavorless. My friends which have enjoyed Roux on other occasions felt like it wasn't there night as they have had better experience there. I know it can be a frustrating time for resturants but on the same note it can be a time to shine. They have a cool location and probably have great neighborhood support and I wish them success, it's the fun thing about restaurant week trying places that you normally would pass.

My wife and I came here for Restaurant Week. From the moment we walked in, the experience was a steep downfall. First, we checked in for our 7pm reservation. But we were about half hour early and were forced to wait till our actual reservation time. I had asked them if we were able to get seated at one of booths but they said those were for parties of 6 people. There were about 2 booths that had at least 2 or 3 people in them. When we finally got seated, I realized the area that we were in was kinda crammed. There was a few different times where I was elbowed or bumped from behind by customers seated at the bar area. We ordered 3 different appetizers, hush puppies, mussels, and crispy pig ears. All 3 tasted great. Had no complaints. A few minutes after we finished the apps, our desserts showed up. Keep in mind that we were there for Restaurant Week, that mean 3 course meal (appetizer, entree, and dessert). We informed our waiter that we had not yet received our entrees. He apologize and took them back. About 15 minutes went by and still no entrees (shrimp and grits and blackened catfish). When they finally showed up, the shrimp and grit was drowning in red gravy. More than what I had seen in the pictures posted. Plus the taste of it was just too strong for our taste. So we never finished it. Blackened catfish was ok. The lobster cream sauce was very good. Now the dessert. The red velvet cake was ok, but beignets, they were not cooked enough. My wife took her first bite and she felt it right away that it still had that doughy texture to it. We checked all three of the beignets and we were disappointed. The waiter came by and asked us if there was a problem with our dessert. We told him the issue and he offered to give us a new batch of beignets, but we refused and asked that he take them away. We were very excited about coming here again to tryout other entrees but after tonight, this might be a place we'll avoid.

A party of three of us went to Roux during Restaurant Week. The special menu had a good selection of dishes. The mussels first course was really delicious. Two of us got the shrimp and grits entree and it was very tasty. The third entree, blackened catfish, was not that great. The desserts were bountiful. One piece of red velvet cake was delicious and really big enough to serve two. We got two orders of bignets and they were huge, three of the largest bignets I have ever seen and probably three times the size of the ones you get at Cafe du Mond in NOLA. The two orders didn't come out at the same time and the expediter kindly boxed the second order to take home. Unlike the food, the service was not what I would expect in this caliber restaurant. The place was busy, but not crazily so, and it took us 15 minutes to get water. When the server finally took our drink order, he did not understand the wine requested, even though the list is relatively short. Our first courses came out before the wine, hardly what one would like for a pleasant dinner out. When the wine did appear, after I asked the expediter what was up, the server struggled to open the bottle. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he was new but still...

Here for restaurant week, spent $100-ish plus tip. Dessert was too limited and there was a cake that the waiter steered us away from---probably rightly so. We got hushpuppies, mussels, ribs, shrimp and grits, binguette, and a few cocktails. Everything but the binguettes were great. Shame about the dryish binguettes since we got two orders per the bag dessert selection.

I was excited to eat here for the first time. The brunch menu looked fantastic, too! Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. I would understand if they were busy but people were coming and going before we even got to order coffee. In addition, they ran out menu items fast. They were running out of items even after we ordered (so we had to re-order our meals). Considering all the great feedback we heard, it was a bit surprising how poor the service was. It was about a two hour visit, with 20 minutes of actual eating. I would still recommend this place, but probably suggest staffing for brunch be reconsidered since they were probably understaffed (I like to think they weren't purposely rude).

Went for brunch on Sunday. Most tables were full, and there was a line out front. Glad we had booked on OpenTable as we got seated immediately. Roux has about 10 items specifically for brunch, but serves the entire menu as well. I had "The Cure" - two eggs over grits, with a meat, Creole seasoned diced potatoes and grilled bread. Really liked the grits - creamy with a hint of butter, and could eat the potatoes all day, not just at brunch. Others in our party went for the Fried Green Tomatoes Benedict. I can't tell you how that was because they wouldn't share any. Only disappointment was the coffee. If this was really meant to be The Cure, they need to bring me something less bitter to wash away Saturday night. But maybe that was deliberate, since I opted for a beer instead.

My husband and I made a reservation, but arrived early and were seated right away. The tables were so close together and crammed up against the wall that when I took a seat on the booth side, I had to push the table out just to get my foot past the table leg (I noticed the woman next to me have the same issue). It was loud in there, so much so that I had to practically yell to talk to my husband sitting across from me. It took about 5 minutes or so for anyone to acknowledge us or give us water, even though a couple of tables that were seated after us were tended to. I ordered a mint julep which was strong and my husband had some sort of rum. We had the dill pickle chips to start, my husband thought they were okay but I didn't care for them. The actual pickle was so thin that you couldn't really taste the flavor of the pickle, only the cornmeal breading. I ordered the jambalaya, it was bland and boring. My husband had the fried chicken, which was much better than my meal (I ended up eating some of his since the jambalaya was so disappointing). The only thing I really enjoyed were the beignets for dessert - those were very tasty. All in all, I thought the restaurant was small and noisy, the tables were too crowded together, the service was so-so, and the food was mediocre relative to it's price.

As an avid fan of their food truck "Where ya at Matt", I've been anticipating eating at Roux for a long time. Their po-boys and beignets are amazing and worth hunting down the truck for. When I heard that they were opening a restaurant, I had high hopes that it would be just as amazing as their food truck. Well, like many other restaurants, I was met with highs and lows. Ambiance was nice. Located in the cozy neighborhood of Fremont, there is plenty of parking. Inside is warm and feels like a comfortable place to settle down for the evening. We came with a party of 8, and sat next to the window off to the left. Table was plenty big and comfortable for all. Now to the meat of it... the food. Personally I ordered the rib entree as my main, and tried the beet salad and shrimp and grits from my wife. My ribs were awesome (even better the next day), although the accompanying slaw and okra fell way short. I also would've appreciated some sort of carb side, like a small slice of cornbread or something. It needed something else. (In addition to more bbq sauce!) The beet salad was good (but just a touch on the salty side). Shrimp and grits were also pretty good, but on the salty side. In talking with my other dinner compatriots, it seemed that the overall consensus was that food was flavorful, but all a little too salty for our palates. As for service, our waitress was nice, but not the most pleasant. I understand that the job is tough and it's a busy night, but a little more smiling could go a long way! All in all, I enjoyed the dinner and anticipating trying their other creole style food because I'm a big fan. If a little extra salt doesn't scare you, then I'd highly recommend this place!
