Tavern & Table is the dream child of Cecil & Dianne Crowley, Andy Palmer & Jeff Condon. After years of working together on various successful restaurant concepts, they wanted to bring together the very best aspects of fine dining and casual hospitality in a beautiful and comfortable setting. Tavern & Table is more than a restaurant, it was created to be a gathering place where people sit in comfort and share small plates for the table or enjoy a hearty meal. The bartenders know the fine art of cocktail making and their interest in flavor and presentation comes alive in not only in the food but in barrel aged cocktails that are created in-house.

    I made a reservation for my birthday. My husband and I were bringing two friends who had never been to Tavern & Table. I was excited to show them Shem Creek and sit during dinner at your restaurant and watch the activity on Shem Creek. We arrived a little early, but told the hostess that we were fine waiting for our table. We were seated at a table that we could not see Shem Creek and when I asked if another table was available where we could see the water, I was told that the area that had tables available was reserved for those that made reservations. I explained that I had made a reservation. In the end, we were moved to a table where we were able to see Shem Creek. Our waiter was beyond great, and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, the problem with the table did put a damper on the evening as I do not like confrontation and am disappointed that after making a reservation in advance, I had to make a fuss to get a table where we could see the water.

    It's a great restaurant with a great view! The atmosphere is comfortable. The service was expedient and good. The menu had a good selection and I the shrimp and grits and it did not disappoint! Definitely worth a visit when in the Shem Creek/Charleston area.

    We have been coming here for many years, while vacationing in SC. It’s always been a favorite for the ambience and delicious food. This time, I was very disappointed that my peel and eat shrimp didn’t have the black “sand vein” (shrimps digestive tract) removed. While edible, it’s not very pleasing to eat and it is typically removed at better restaurants. It was not removed here, which our waitress said was a mistake and usually removed. Disappointing and we sent it back and it was removed from our bill. Not the end of the world. The wedge salad and burger ordered by another member of the group was delicious.

    The food was amazing, but the waiter was not very attentive. It almost seemed like we were not worth ANY real effort. I think that it was probably more obvious because the other places that we dined during our stay had wait staff that were VERY attentive. Ie would go back for the food, but pray that we get a different waiter.

    Service excellent. Ambiance excellent. Artichoke appetizer outstanding. Scallops very tasty but not a big fan of chorizo. If you like chorizo, big hit. Very modest portion for the price. A few scallops and a few fingerling potatoes. No veggie or salad included.
