Great location for post shopping or pre-theater. Good food and atmosphere. Service was very good including the "surprise me" wine. Young person clearing empty plates needs to ask before clearing. We were left with bread and garlic, but no plate.

The server Lauren was excellent - pleasant, flexible, accommodating and prompt. Food also very good — at our table creative pastas, tasty seafood. soup, salad and pizza for the kid. Unlike too many restaurants, the lower noise level and sound absorption allowed easy conversation for the five of us at a large round table. Highly recommend!

Loved visiting Osteria Via Stato again after a few years -- another great night here. I have regrets about ordering the special butternut squash pizza (wasn't prepared for the heavy nutmeg), but everything else about the food and experience was great. Go with the classics!

Avery was an amazing waitress, who took care of all of our needs. She was attentive, and was aware when and if we needed refills or anything else. The food is always delicious, and the seasonal soup was great. Recommend to anyone!!

First time there. The food was delicious (ordered the scallops). Our server was very attentive and sweet. It wasn’t super crowded so the noise level was low. The overall vibe I’m not sure but something was missing, I just can’t put my finger on it.

We had a great first time! Our server was 10/10-she needs a promotion! Not sure what her name was but she had curly hair and a nose ring and a great vibe! The food was delicious! I have a broken leg and was super accommodated!

We went to dinner for our 10 year Anniversary and had a pretty mediocre experience. We asked for an Alfredo or Parmesan sauce for our kids pasta and were told they could not make it. Can’t an Italian restaurant make a simple sauce? We’ve never been told no at an Italian spot before to that request. The Cacio de Pepe was not tasty at all. There was barely any chicken in the penne dish. The food was overpriced for it not being tasty. Spent $180 for party of 3. Nobody acknowledged our anniversary or offered anything like small dessert for us. What’s the point of open table asking if it’s a special occasion if restaurant doesn’t care? Pretty disappointed and we are loyal lettuce entertain you customers.

food was just okay, really nothing exciting. put in our reservation that it was an anniversary dinner, and that was not acknowledged at all. server did a really great job! but food was nothing special and our special occasion not being recognized is the reason that i cant give a high review. kind of upsetting, not typical lettuce service, unfortunately.

This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Chicago, but last night was a little be disappointed. The food was ok. I had chicken Mario and meatballs and they were kind of warm, the bread was cold and the worse part was they didn’t have the ricotta cheesecake and bread puddling! The service wasn’t impressive by any means. We had to ask for bread, water, spoons, the straw and the never offered refills for the soda. She was not really attentive. This is a shame because I really like this place. I guess it was a different experience…

Chicago's hidden GEM. The food is delicious. I took co workers to dinner as a thank you. I was told this morning when she walked in that she's going back soon. My service person was GREAT. I hope I will have him again when i go back.

We have been coming to OVS on and off for over 10 years now. It is just across the street from us, but not after COVID. We used to love their warm ciabatta bread with the aged balsamic and roasted garlic, actually it was the main reason why we went and it WAS free for the table. The short rib was also my favorite while the pasta dishes were also quite good. Never had the pizza. Today simply reminded me why we haven't gone back as much as we should. Both serive and food quality have gone down hill. This is what happens when you cut corners. The service was slow. From time of order to getting that tiny cheese board for $17.99 took over 30 mins. The pasta came when we just started on the cheese board. It was probably 60% capacity on a Wednesday night. The Cacio E Pepe lacked flavor and depth, and packed with grease. I haven't seen this much grease in a pasta dish since I went to a Olive Garden 20 year ago. The Cavatelli was Ok, the sauce was also bland. Whatever happened to OVS, especially being part of LEY, unless they make some changes soon, we won't be back.

Hostess was extremely rude. Manager refused to sit our group together even though we had a group reservation made a month early. They said they were too busy to move tables and yet they had 2 large tables free in our area. the entire time we spent there The waitress was pretty rude, never checked in once food came. Asked for salt pepper etc and never brought it. Once meal was done plates wisked away immediately. Felt very rushed . Would not go back.

Our waiter Tristan was amazing. We went during the Tomato event. I had the Angelhair pasta with spinach and shrimp, I asked for no spice. My stepdad got the one with spice. The server (not Tristan) never asked who was getting which one bc they were not differentiated on which plate was which. I was given the spicy. The gelato was amazing, but the Tiramisu was kinda bland.

The food was good, nothing particularly special or unique, but solid. The service was exceptionally slow and the waitress pretty disinterested and inattentive. On the other hand, the young bus boy was outstanding. Very aware of refilling our water glasses, clearing plates, finding our waitress for us when she was no where to be found-we tipped him cash separately to tell him how much we noticed and appreciated him.

We had a wonderful meal, highlighted by the amazing heirloom tomato appetizers. The food was excellent and the service was terrific. Glad to see the restaurant was bustling tonight. And, the panna cotta was topped by an amazing and unbelievable tomato jam - I’d buy it if I could!
