Pearl Raw Bar
Located on Main St, in the Fan District, Pearl offers a variety of seafood specialties including local oysters, shrimp and crab legs. The decor has a classic oyster bar feel. The front room is more casual with a marble bar, reclaimed wood tables and televisions. The back sun room is a quieter dining room with sky lights and garage doors that open to the outside in nice weather.
Saturday & Sunday: 10:30am - 2:00am
Took my wife there for her Birthday food was outstanding servers are great just a wonderful time will be back!
The oysters were good and the small plates we tried were good as well. This place has a great happy hour with several wines to choose from. I would strongly recommend Pearl if you’re looking for a solid happy hour destination.
This restaurant smelled like a dirty bar from the second we walked in. The waitress was all over the place and always seemed to be in a hurry to get away from the table even though there was only 1 other table of people and a handful of people at the bar. She quite literally threw our food in front of us and scurried away without saying a word to chat with the other servers/bartenders standing near the bar. The crab pasta special was okay. I wanted to love it but they just threw ice cold shell laced crab on top of luke warm pasta/sauce. It tasted great, was just lacking in some refinement. This is a date night place we probably won't return to.
Everything was great, wish I wasn't put in a back corner but overall not too bad. 1 pound of shrimp looked a little small like it was only a 1/2 pound but taste of the food made up for it.
We had a great time celebrating my husbands birthday, a party of 6. The wait staff were excellent, took table pic, put candle in the birthday boys dessert and very curtious! The oysters were fresh and delish. I even found a raw pearl in my fried oyster so you know it was fresh!
Service and Meal was Fantastic. Good value and great flavor!
Food was just okay, the garlic in my mussels were basically raw and overpowered it. My steak was very salty, I had to scrap the salt off of it. Our desserts came out before I was done with my entree. Felt a bit rushed, I looked around and there were still five tables still there.
I may try it again, if I didn’t have a choice.
We visited the restaurant for Restaurant Week. The fried oysters and waffles was an unexpected treat. Although our appetizers came at the same time as our wine, the rest of the meal was paced nicely. Our server didn't rush us and even asked if we wanted to wait a few minutes for dessert. This was welcome because we had eaten every bite of our entrees.
The Pan Seared Salmon was outstanding! Must have again. Wait staff was great! Thanks for a wonderful meal.
Restaurant week- one steak dinner, one salmon- both were okay. Couple close by had crab cakes- they looked like they would have tasted much better. desserts were both great. corn crab chowder bland. mussels were very good. All in all it was okay but was not overwhelmed.
Wine selection not great, food not great either. I think I went in with too high of expectations. Seems like a good place to get happy hour, not dinner.
The food was mediocre at best. Crab cakes were supposed to have no filler, I’ve had frozen crab cakes that were better. My husband’s pasta appeared to have no crab in it and looked like a bland mess. The table was sticky. Got there a few minutes before happy hour and when the waitress came over it had just turned 7 but she was unable to give us happy hour prices. A real disappointment since the reviews were so good.
Usually excellent but tonight the kitchen messed up, food was not brought to us all at the same time, forgot plate and gluten free plate was wrong.
Pearl's Raw Bar is one of the best seafood restaurants in Richmond. Me & my husband have been there several times for dinner, and we enjoy it every time we go. The service is impeccable. Never once have we had a bad dining experience at Pearl's.
I would highly recommend this restaurant!! You will not be disappointed.
Very good food happy hour was very good value bartender could have been more attentive but overall the experience was cool
One of the best menus in town. Our friends had the nightly special, which included a three course meal, husband and I chose from the menu, but couldn't resist the huge piece of cheesecake for desert! Definitely a place for a return visit.
Food was good. Steam sampler was excellent. Service was not that good, our wAitress did not pay much attention to us
Always a great place to eat!
Shared the large steamed seafood sampler. Everything fresh and tasting.
Im a huge fan of Brunch here, and raved to my girlfriends about how amazing everything always is.... Something was just a little off with my group of 5 during our visit. The entrees weren’t the best and seemed to be a little out of order and not as hot as they should’ve been. I’m confident this is not normal and that my next visit will be just as great as past times!
Great atmosphere! Service was outstanding. Will def go back
With wife, son and daughter-in-law waiting on new granddaughter. Great as usual. Oysters were small, but it is July.
Everything was great, especially the fish. Excellent salads, particularly the Caesar but don’t add steak if you get anchovies. Very large servings of salmon and rockfish. Go at 6:30 and get a round of cheap drinks and reduced oysters. Steaks served exactly as ordered - m. rare.
Sit in the back for more quiet dining. Favorite night out without breaking the bank.
Really great find here! I found Pearl on Google looking for seafood places and wasn’t disappointed. The oyster sampler I had was amazing! We were also there on Crab night, and got one of the specials, which was delicious. Great food, service, and atmosphere. It was super jammed packed, very nice place!
It was quite hot so we ate inside, right next to a very active bar scene. WE couldn't talk much because of the noise level, but I thought it would probably be noisy. Ididn't realize how busy a neighborhood restaurant was on Monday night --oyster night.
The oysters were great, the rice not so great. I ordered a NA beer, Beck's, and was quite surprised that it cost $6.00
The server was attentive and freindly.
Went there for the oysters and they were outstanding, as were the other dishes we ordered. Lobster roll is a standout. Casual atmosphere and excellent service.
Phenomenal crab legs! Best in Richmond!
Great place to grab some seafood in the Fan. The back room is really awesome--much more spacious than the front room. The Happy House specials are the best! Enjoy!
Very bad gnats problem. There was hair in my food, but once server & manager was notified, they gladly reduced the bill & to bring out a fresh order.
Great neighborhood venue for casual dining. Despite its Fan location, I've never had trouble parking. Smallish, yet varied menu. Reasonably-priced. Courteous, efficient, and unobtrusive service. Arugula cranberry pecan salad with goat cheese is wonderful. Best sweet potato fries I've had anywhere. How do they get them so crispy?
Great menu but food is lacking. Soup and fries arrived at the table cold and the lobster roll had very little lobster - the celery is larger and more plentiful than the lobster. There was a very light crowd so there was no excuse.
Great atmosphere and Tuesday night crab leg special is awesome!
Waited 15 minutes before waitress even came to the table. Had to go ask hostess what was going on. Never refilled water glasses. Did not get half of my order and when asked about it, waitress apologized but it took another 15 min to get the additional item and then it was charred - 4 small shrimp for $7! I will say - the raw oysters were great.
Great place! Loved the back room. Service was awesome and the food was fresh.
Great. Good food and wine selection.
Food was good—BUT how can you be a place that serves crab and not have picks to get the crab out? Perhaps that’s why I had to send two forks back due to bent tines.
Also, there was a real fly problem. Recent article about what do the best chefs look out for when they eat out highlighted flies as a symptom of poor sanitation.
Our family loves going to Pearl on Monday Night which is "oyster night." We always start off with two dozen Chesapeake raw oysters. They are delicious and a great value at $10.99 a dozen. Other Monday oyster specials are also very good, especially the oyster stew. Besides oysters, there are many other excellent seafood options. The crab and corn chowder is great and makes for a nice meal with an arugula salad. Happy hour offers reduced pricing on draft and bottled beer. House wines are also reduced. There are two seating areas at Pearl. The bar area has wooden booths and bar seating. The rear seating offers more space and works best for larger parties.
We usually love Pearl’s but there were serious problems this time. We were seated in the back next to the garage doors. The garage doors were filthy and flies were everywhere. I killed 13+ flies myself and that didn’t make a difference. The server said they had the doors open at lunch. It was disgusting.
The oysters were okay. The rest of the food was so disappointing. The calamari was greasy - the breading was soaked with oil. Every component of my tacos looked as if it was prepared days before. The kids grilled cheese was solidified by the time served. Every thing served was lukewarm to cold (all the fries were cold).
Our server (Jessica) was friendly and attentive. She was the best part of the experience.
I am not sure we will return.
My wife and I visited Pearl for our 2nd anniversary, and we were thrilled with our choice! We had oysters, the tuna tower, the blackened tuna steak and the crab cakes, and it was all spectacular! Maegan was wonderful and a great help at choosing which oysters to order. We were also very pleased with drinks. We will definitely be back!
Great neighborhood spot for brunch!
