   When we arrived for our reservation the host informed us that the restaurant was closed for a private party. I explained that I had made a reservation weeks ago and was never informed and received a reminder the day before. She was unapologetic. I’ll never go again. Opentable also should have notified me.

   To begin, my friend and I were the only people in the restaurant for our entire visit. That was a bitr unnerving. The front and side walls were all open and construction was going on on 13th street right outside the restaurant for the whole time. The noise was deafening. And there was loud music playing. The menu is small and very limited. And, in fact, the menu which was sent along with the OpenTable reminder the day before, was not the menu we had. The waitress was very kind, obviously trying very hard, but was a little clueless. Not sure what wines they had. Not sure of how to describe items on the menu. At the end of the meal asked if we wanted to see the dessert list, and when my friend (celebrating her birthday) said "yes", the waitress said, "Actually, there is no dessert list We only have three different ice creams". The food was generally good, except for a ring of greens (broccolini, I think) around my chicken (actually quite good), which was roasted to the point of being burnt. It was like ritual sacrifice. My friend's steak was well done, not medium as requested. All in all unsatisfactory. I ended up apologizing for taking her there. She was a good sport and said it was an "unusual" experience. But not one to be repeated.

   Me and wifey did an overnight trip to Philly. We found Maison on line with decent reviews. We got there for happy hour and was informed that they couldn't give us Happy Hour prices for some reason. Secondly, the menu they list online was totally different than what they provided in the restaurant. I was surprised they were out of several items on the menu when it was only 6 pm when we arrived. Lastly, they didn't provide an itemized check which I find very dubious.

   They were obviously short staffed but they struggled in other areas that showed this was not a one time occurrence. They had practically nothing available from the menu (every entrée had a modification, ultimately a downgrade), the service was very slow, never got one thing we ordered and the food was subpar. Three out of the four of us got sick later in the day as well. I was bummed that a space that had lots going for it visually lacked everywhere else.

   Great organic, local flavors and pairings! The drink menu is refreshing and well crafted. Sarah at the front desk was awesome, Nick provided excellent and knowledgeable service, the kitchen was fun and open. The restaurant is perfect for people watching and is open to enjoy the night air. Overall great, new, super local and fresh eats find.

   I was there for Sunday brunch. Menu did not match menu on the website, too few choices, no toast or bread??? Which is odd for brunch items, no potatoes come with or offered as sides?? Any egg dish should have this as a choice, whether it comes with, or offered as a side as your apple sausage does.

   This was the worst meal we've ever had in Philadelphia. We went for brunch and we both ordered the steak and eggs. It should have been called "Steak and egg" because the plate contained just one burnt piece of steak (rare on the inside) with one egg on the side, Sunny side up. Nothing else. The steak tasted awful, and we couldn't get the burnt taste out of our mouths. We will never return to Maison 208.

   This was my third visit to Maison 208 and the previous two visits were stellar. But something has definitely changed since my last visit. The issue is primarily with the management that evening. After adequate appetizers (the bone marrow was delicious, the poutine had severe cold spots in the fries). We were served duck that was recommended at medium rare and was still very, very tough and lacked any real flavor. Followed by a creme brulee dessert that was genuinely burnt ( not caramelized, just burnt). After complaining about it, we were told that is how the chef was taught and that's how he makes them and there was no changing it, not even an offer to change the dessert we ordered. No manager ever came of to check on our meal and ask how things were, despite that fact that the restaurant was nearly empty and there were only 2 other patrons. The manager seemed too caught with talking to his friend at the bar to properly do his job and be proactive in the service provided. This was one of the worse visits to any establishment I've ever had.

   This was horrible. Found hair in my food. So many good brunch places in Philly that this isn’t worth it.
