The food is ok. But the service was pretty bad. They made us feel that they want us to leave. They brought main courses when we still were eating appetizers. They pushed us to order dessert when we were eating. very rude and annoying.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary yesterday there, it’s was beautiful & excellent food but the portions are on the smaller side. We got the Omakase for 4 with cocktails & wine. It was quite expensive & my boys (young adults) left still hungry. But they helped us celebrate our very special occasion with a slice of pistachio cake from Lady M to share

I had the $98 nigiri omakase lunch. Although the pieces are smaller than in most other places, the quality is superb, and the chef did include more costly pieces like toro and uni. The miso soup was the best I’ve ever had and the kale salad was exquisite. I also ordered a $40 carafe of sake for myself. It was served with the carafe chilled in ice and was exquisite, too. Service at the bar was excellent and the attention to detail impeccable. I was impressed.

Sushi was the most delicious we’ve ever had. The tuna was fresh and the salmon was buttery good! Shrimp had a light sweetness that you could tell was fresh because it wasn’t tough or rubbery.. we would go back there again!

They wanted to kick us out for 545 reservation at 715 which is 1.5 hours . I was ordering constantly expensive stuff . Waiters were disappearing- had to constantly flag them down to get orders in . There were 2 empty tables next to us . Paid 550 and tipped a 100 dollars anyway because waiters need the money. It was only 3 of us - I paid 650 . Money was not issue but would never come back - disappointing to kick people out when they are constantly ordering _usually you would get at least 2 hours

This is amazing little hidden gem. They much better that some Michelin star restaurants we’ve been. Even though this place doesn’t look very posh, the service and the food it’s just amazing!!! You have to really try it! Because only here you do understand that you never really tried Japanese real food ( unless you have been in Japan) . We will be coming back!

We found Bar Masa in 2019 and fell in love. We go each time we are in NYC. One of our favorite dishes is the cucumber salad. Our favorite roll is the California roll with king crab. The service is always attentive.

Even though this is not the 3 star restaurant, we were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the fish used for sushi. It is on par with many of the Michelin star sushi restaurants in Japan, Asia, and the US. The flexibility was also appreciated - one diner can have omakase while the other one have a la carte. The menu is quite extensive for a bar restaurant, with many fund dishes like pasta made from shrimp and fish. The flavors of the dishes were all well balanced. The only disappointment was the Peking duck taco. We were expecting the skin to be close to that of traditional Peking duck. While crispy, the skin had no taste. They were generous with caviar and uni in many of the dishes. Uni was excellent. Caviar was so so. Bar seating does not overlook sushi chef, just bartenders. We were happy with our table.

Nowhere near 1 Michelin Star, never mind 3. Masa, the dining room, yes. The bar, no. Food was good, but not Michelin level nor worth the coin charged. Service was very good, but nowhere near Michelin rated. I doubt the Michelin rating is legitimate. I think they used the rating from Masa and transferred it to Bar Masa.

The service was great! Since we celebrated our birthdays(May 4 and Mat9), mentioned it in our reservation. Bar Masa kindly acknowledged it and gave us a piece of cake with a candle. It is truly sweet. At the same time, we ordered Sushi Assortment, most of them were delicious, but a piece of Uni sushi tasted terrible. It certainly was not met the standard of Bar Masa.
