La Peg is a contemporary brasserie by Peter Woolsey located inside the FringeArts building in old city Philadelphia across from the Race Street pier. The dining room is dramatic with 45 foot tall ceilings with large windows to match that give every diner incredible views of the Benjamin Franklin bridge. Designed by Groundswell Design, the industrial interior pays homage to the building’s history as a high pressure pump station for the Philadelphia fire department. The food is casual American inspired with options for the curious as well as the non-adventurous. The service is relaxed and casual yet informed and unobtrusive. Come in for a snack, dessert, drink, or blow out meal, La Peg will satisfy any occasion.

It was a joint birthday celebration!!!!! We love trying new restaurants, so this was our first time at La Peg. The food was fantastic, the service was friendly, and the ambiance was perfect. If you’re tired of the same old restaurants we highly recommend giving La Peg a try.

The food was not good, the mashed potatoes had too much salt and no butter, the salmon was over seasoned and undercooked, we had to keep looking for our server and the alcoholic beverages were watered down with way to much juice

The small appetizers are quite tasty. The meal tasted good. The resturant left the double doors wide open and it was cold. I would have enjoyed this meal more of it was warmer outside.

Good service & nice atmosphere. We had veggie burgers and they were only fair. The Russian dressing & slaw spread on the burger was sour and didn’t complement the chic pea/cauliflower patty. The bun was cold and dry. And the burger was rather small. I know times are tough and that food costs are high, but it struck us as a poor value. On the plus side, the shoestring fries were tasty and hot.

The buffalo cauliflower and table snacks were good, loved the jam, sausage, and cheese. However, the crab dip and it was forgettable, the burger reminded me of a Burger King Whopper, salmon was slimy, fries were too salty, cookies weren't warm. Service was a bit slow—but it was during restaurant week and a bit busy. Overall, the food was just okay, but the drinks (Blueberry the Hatchet was DELICIOUS!) and ambiance (indoor and outdoor—dining outside under the bridge at sunset was fabulous) were great for the Restaurant Week value ($40 + drinks).

This was our second time at La Peg. We have had two great experiences at this restaurant. When you first walk up, you may think it's a bar atmosphere with the casual outside seating and bar inside. But, the food is anything but bar food. This visit they had a special menu and everything we ordered was excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive and appear to enjoy their jobs. Also, both times we visited the weather was perfect...sunny and not too hot. The views of the bridge are great too. It sits on the corner of Race and Columbus Ave, which can be noisy but nothing different than most city restaurants with outside seating.

There were open seats available on my birthday for 9:45. We arrived at 9:30 to only be turned away. If the restaurant is closed, why would I be able to make a reservation? Or worse why would an establishment allow us to book, walk over and not at least serve us drinks.

We went for lunch on a Saturday in August. The food was very good but the portion size was a bit small. They only offered outdoor seating. The staff was excellent. We will return for dinner for sure but maybe not lunch.

Service is great. Lots of outside seating. The ambiance is no where to be found, surrounded by two highways and a bridge...you'll have to scream to be heard between the cars, trucks and motorcycles racing along the Delaware River.

The waiters were very respectful. Environment was clean, outside and inside seating design is very appealing. However, the lighting inside the restaurant is too dark..table candles etc were unavailable. Outside seating is better for the visually impaired. The food and menu was to be desired. We started with a cold plate appetizer and for 6 crackers to eat with a small scoop of liver patte, cheddar cheese and smoked sliced ham with a large helping of jam??? What to eat the j with if you only have five to six crackers? Then the sandwiches and hamburgers were nothing to write home about. The whole entire experience has led me to believe it's just a over the top diner/neighborhood burger joint. The menu is dolled up to make the choices seem more than it really is. That's my honest opinion.

The food and drink were great, but the service is absolutely terrible. The server didn’t introduce himself, so I have his name from the receipt (Brando). He didn’t check on our food until after we were done eating, he didn’t bring out waters nor take the drink order (the manager did), and he didn’t run our food (the food runner did). He took our order (two burgers) but didn’t ask for their temperature- he just ran away. The only task he accomplished was bringing our check. Too bad, cause the food and ambiance are both good.

Fun atmosphere and the food and drinks were interesting. Server could have been friendlier and more knowledgeable about the menu. Other server pitched in to answer our questions though. Hostess staff rather aloof, seemingly because we are not hipsters. However, I would go there again - it's a nice change from Old City when we go to the theatre.

We decided to eat at LA Peg for the evening because of proximity to the hotel. When arrived, we were greeted and seated promptly. Our server was very friendly and prompt. She allowed us to enjoy our meal and conversation with minimal check in, which is very welcomed with Europeans. Our meal was very good, the blackened salmon was delicious, as wad the vegetarian burger that my wife loved.
